Even though there are some interesting ideas, no other aspect of this film works. Most of the acting is amateurish. It makes you realize how difficult it can be to act convincingly.
It is overly long. Parts of the score is probably the best ingredient in this film. The cinematography is nothing special. I lost interest less than halfway through but did finish the film.
No way is this anywhere, anywhere near a 10 film. To keep the reviews relatively honest, maybe those involved in the film should only put one 10 review on here. I can only assume all the tens have some connection to the film.
Again, I rented this and I regret it.

The less said about this film the better. I gave it a ''2'' because it at least had some ambition...but ambition alone isn't enough to praise a film-- it has to deliver on that ambition to be worthwhile. And this film does not.
However, a special commendation must be made to whomever was in charge of the PR for this film, since they evidently either convinced or paid-off a good amount of 'reviewers' to provide positive reviews on this site: of the 18 reviews posted, 16 of them are raves (most rating it a '10') and this is the only film they've ever rated. One person has a grand total of two, so they could be legit. And the one person who correctly blasts the film for its lack of quality (irazig) and gives it a 3/10 is the only authentic reviewer as they have multiple reviews.
The general numeric average for the film is 3.7... That's the true value for it.

"Altered Perceptions" stumbles through its story with lengthy, redundant conversations likely to compel even its most charitable watchers to internally give up. It qualifies to become a late-night flick like Soylent Green, a poor take on a sci-fi nightmare or a bureaucratic parody targeting the intolerance of the folks in control. Get ready to have your psyche shattered.
It may seem like a relevant, seductive, sci-fi brain-sweeper that is Jorge Ameer's most impassioned and edgy film so far, but it contains no rationality at all from one moment to another, with the situations scarcely even relating to one another. It may be one of the most explosive, hypnotic, sci-fi nail-biters since Demolition Man, spoofing natural tragedy and cultural criticism, but stuff becomes so faulty in the couple of hours it takes to watch this movie that real societal problems seem delightful by comparison. Still, that cannot be a valid justification to check out this movie. "Altered Perceptions" stages an overcomplicated tale that tries to mix types without any defined order, and it stumbles shy of its goals.
One extra star for the naked guy, though, just because it's quite a choice.

Imagine the events in this movie were taking place?! This is a different approach to society's doings, but with an actual realistic political perspective. What if the eldelry were commiting such crimes? We do live in a scary society controlled by politicians, which amongst everything else, they seek power.
Altered Perceptions is such an interesting film worth watching. It is not your typical Hollywood film with action and story timeline.
Wayne Dees is such a creative writer when it comes down to have an original Script. And Jorge Ameer is the eccentric experienced Director and artist that have this vision fulfilled. Watch it!

Just ordered the Blu-ray after watching this film because it's definitely a must for my collection. I found the film to be very relevant to current events happening in our political eco-system. What I also liked about this thriller is that it's very unpredictable. After looking up the film on social media I found interesting that the main star Oran Stainbrook is running for Utah Senate inspired by the events happening in the film and in real life. This film will make an impression on you and I recommend it very much because of its insight and foreshadowing. Keep in mind this film was shot years ago and yet everything that was film is currently happening. I find this very intriguing and fascinating! Highlly recommended specially for those who are still undecided on who to vote for this November.

We may think to ourselves that the people we disagree with are "sick." Why do they believe such absurd things? What makes them act so strangely, and too often violently?
But what if all those people -- and more and more -- actually were sick with an unknown virus that turns the world on its head? This is the world of "Altered Perceptions."
As the virus rapidly spreads, and the entire country reels from its effects, a family of two gay fathers and their adult son struggle to cope in an existence where friends can suddenly become enemies and alliances can shift because of a brain infection.
The government and the health sector work on the growing problem, but as always, too slowly and inadequately. Can anything stop the spread?
Director Jorge Ameer envisions the world of "Altered Perceptions" through the eyes of its gay protagonists, who are constantly in danger. He adds otherworldly special effects to the drama and includes a nude male Cassandra in the story.

I met Jorge Ameer in the DVD section of a popular record store in Los Angeles, California. We had a great conversation about the movie industry. And to my surprise, he told me that he was, in fact, a film director and said I should check out his film Altered Perception.
So I went home and watched it. Who would have thought a filmmaker could add anything new to the Sci-Fi genre? This movie does just that.
Oran Stainbrook, Danny Fehsenfeld, and Matt Fling performed outstandingly in this film.
Kudos to Jorge Ameer and his very ambitious independent film. I can't wait to see what he has in store next.

Definitely something you haven't seen before - tying together a lot of current applicable areas of conflict in todays bifurcated political world such as Covid, Covid vaccinations, LGBTQ rights and racism - tied together with a fictional virus to show how a divided world reacts to adversity.
A pretty strong cast, and while the lower budget is evident in certain shots / wardrobe, it plays well and has a tangibly indie feel that's refreshing.
It would have been nice to see a slightly more developed relationship between some of the main characters so we could sympathize more with their predicament/ very evident anguish later on in the film, and I thought that the music bed wasn't necessary to be constantly playing though out some scenes - but overall it's an ambitious and gripping experience. Just prepare for a bit of frontal nudity as well.

Saw this film as the opening night fil of the Marina Del Rey Film Festival. It is intense, amusing, shocking and very real. Great artwork in the title sequences as well, a very unique and interesting painting. Within the obvious story of the movie lies many layers of what ifs with several obvious real life characters bunched into the few that lead this film on our obsession with choosing morally bankrupt looney tunes to lead the country and the disastrous consequences of a total lack of critical thinking when it come time to vote for your elected officials. The protagonists Alex is on a serious career path seeking his due without realizing the profound effects his professional choices will have on his personal/family life as they are ideologically contradicting. He will soon find out what happens when you choose to sell your soul to the devil and the outcome of what happens when you attempt to get it back, but it's too late because the devil may already have plans for you. In this movie the devil is deceiving, cunning, a bold face stare into your eyes, a liar who will trick constantly at will without observing any consequence associated with his actions. He may be neatly packaged as a biblical prophet who will make things right should you choose him/entrust him your vote and your support. The Devil here is personified as the person who will see to it that what he promised gets delivered two fold and swiftly without thinking of any lies, deceit, empty promises or fraudulent or continuous proliferation of false statements that may affect or be the cause of extreme collateral damage. The scariest part of this movie is the foreshadowing - the way - the politician has already dutifully predicted several outcomes. This movie is what happens when crazy is left unchecked. It is a harrowing movie based on our reality with one warning after another that if we don't wake up soon enough to see through the sewage being spoken daily for our ingestion by these marginalized fringe politicians. This movie in particular details one specific - or maybe two politicians - one is getting constantly indicted the other hates Disney. These two jokes seem to have been merged by the writer into one character. This politician of which we shall not speak his name could very much cause irreparable damage, chaos and destruction so bad it could take several generations to fix our democracy to a semblance of what it used to be. I give this film a A for being so audacious and another A for all of the symbolism it may take several viewing for you to discover.

I watched this film in Cannes, and have to say that it was one of the more shocking films I've ever seen. The lead actor is excellent as the story navigates through a series of disturbing incidents that will provoke even jaded movie-goers as it makes commentary on our unprecedented times. Probably one of the most intriguing aspects of this film is that it presents scenarios that don't seem that far off from what could happen in today's America, as extremism is embraced by many in a more and more polarized country. It's like a psychedelic drug trip into a crazy future that may have seemed impossible just a decade ago.

Here is yet another film from renowned indie director Jorge Ameer. Alter Preception. What a mind bending this film is. That is up to date in todays political agenda. This man Jorge Ameer has over 30 movies produced, and directed. Streaming everywhere. That is Epic! Jorge Ameer has accomplishment so many movies. He is enveyed by so many. Most people only can dream about. A typical cliche in Hollywood. We have all heard it too many times. We are in development. Not Jorge Ameer. It is done and in the Film can. He should be invited to workshops like New York Film Academy. To help young Film makers. How to bring together the right team. Starting with an exciting plot. Then executive producer. And the collection of fine actors. I look forward to his next adventure on the silver screen.

Jorge Amir does an excellent job of weaving a complex narrative around many potent issues of our time. From politics and LGBTQ+ struggles to global pandemics and time travel, Altered Perceptions offers something for any avid Dystopian Sci-Fi fan.
But what hits home the hardest is the timely nature of the narrative. After covid, the divisions in our society are more prevalent than ever and tribalism has bubbled to the surface not only in the US, but throughout the world. AP is a film I "used to" believe could never play out in real life, but now with the current social climate, I'm not so sure. You should check it out.

This movie will be offensive to some and too real for others. Jorge Ameer and team have crafted a polarizing and disturbing film. Written by a shrink there is some very real stuff happening here or at least it could happen if we don't get desired results this election. The movie portrays what could happen if crazies from the right get control of the White House. We can see what's happening right now with the House Republicans. This is art imitating real life. It's a bit too close to reality and my comfort zone for me. This is intelligent cinema at its best and a cautionary tale. Everyone should watch this movie and while you are at it. Don't forget to vote! I purchased the blu ray just to see the extras to see the thought process from cast and filmmakers behind the making of this film.

"Altered Perceptions" offers an intriguing cinematic experience, especially for those who appreciate thrillers with unexpected twists. My overall impression of the film had its share of positives.
The film's title effectively sets the tone for a journey into a dystopian world, exploring the profound impact on the human psyche when faced with toxic circumstances. It's a unique take on a post-pandemic world that's struggling to find normalcy but gradually reveals a darker, more complex reality. This ambitious concept is a commendable aspect of the film.
In a movie landscape that often sticks to conventional storytelling, "Altered Perceptions" dares to be different with its non-linear narrative structure. While it may challenge some viewers, it also offers a refreshing departure from the norm. The exploration of human behavior in the context of a viral threat adds depth to the storyline, provoking thought and discussion.
The film's portrayal of how individuals cope with the virus, while not flawless, attempts to capture the unpredictability of human reactions and the diverse range of emotions that emerge in such situations. It serves as a reflection of the complexity of real-world dynamics, which is a noteworthy endeavor.
In conclusion, "Altered Perceptions" is a film that pushes boundaries and provides a thought-provoking cinematic experience. It may require some patience to fully appreciate its unique narrative style, but it ultimately offers a fresh perspective on familiar themes. If you enjoy films that challenge traditional storytelling conventions and explore complex human dynamics, this one is worth giving a shot.

Entertaining, suspenseful, thrilling, and, at times, a little comedic. Altered Perceptions is a fast-paced, thought-provoking film with a storyline that faces many of the current challenges of modern-day society. How can we all be so connected, yet see things so differently? With access to more knowledge than ever, how can so many be misinformed? Be ready to laugh, cry, and everything between! If you're like me, one watch-through just won't be enough to grasp all that's happening. Very glad to have witnessed this film at its premiere at my local theater. This was my first Jorge Ameer film, and what an introduction!

Director. Jorge Ameer's "Altered Perceptions" is a post apocalyptic feature film released in 2023. The screenwriter, Dr. Wayne C. Dees, a neurologist by profession, was inspired to write this narrative during the pandemic shutdown. As a scientist, Dees addresses current issues at hand with acumen. In this riveting thriller, a pandemic sweeps the nation in the face of civil unrest, rioting and deepfake news. Adults over age 60 infected with the scourge experience extreme danger to themselves and others.
The characters in this film, a politician, a few seniors and others are likable despite their foibles. In the midst of the chaos and crisis, a time traveling prophet presents as a source of. Inspiration. "Altered Perceptions" is an important film portraying the tenor of the times.

**Movie Review: An Unsettling Mirror to Reality**
In an age teeming with cinematic tales, very few truly manage to resonate with the audience's pulse and reflect the reality of society. This movie, with its gripping narrative, does just that. Right from the onset, it ensnares the viewer's attention with a storyline that isn't just fiction but an uncanny representation of societal dynamics outside of the US.
One of the standout elements of the film is its storytelling method. It doesn't present the narrative in a straightforward, linear fashion. Instead, it meanders through various intricacies, much like the complex webs we find ourselves entangled in real life. The director's choice to delve into the peculiarities of human behavior, especially in the face of a looming viral threat, lends the movie a depth that's both haunting and thought-provoking.
The "strange way people deal with the virus," as pointed out, isn't just a mere plot device but a mirror to our own world. The unpredictability of human reactions, the myriad of emotions, from denial to panic, and the often irrational choices we make in the face of fear are all laid bare in this cinematic masterpiece.
In conclusion, this film isn't just entertainment; it's an eye-opener. A stark reminder that sometimes, the most compelling stories are the ones that echo the truths we often choose to ignore. A must-watch for anyone seeking more than just a movie, but a profound experience.

Michael Hanson had an amazing performance!
If you're into thrillers and movies that have twists and turns and is unpredictable then this is your film. I enjoyed the journey this movie took me on and how at every step I couldn't predict the outcome.
The title captures the essence of a dystopian world where nothing is at it appears and the neurological impact of what happens to the human brain when the mind becomes toxic.
"Altered Perceptions" rides on a post pandemic world where things are starting to become normal again, before realizing a darker deeper reality that has taken over humans minds.
Must see! 10/10 recommend!

Wow the conflicts and clearly realistic scenarios that are developed in this film through many twists and turns will make you head spin! A great film about those seeking ultimate power and control mixed with a pandemic conflict that will keep you guessing. The concepts presented are part a a greater possible reality. The film title says it all "Altered Perceptions"
The writing on this film is strong and Jorge Ameer - producer and director (plus some small acting parts) did a great job bringing this to life. Excellent work.
I want to see it again just to look for things I missed! I deserves a look. Must go check it out.
