Right, you have to be a fan of the extreme Japanese gore movies to enjoy a movie such as "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead". Just look at the title of the movie, and you know immediately what kind of movie you are in for here.
So is it worth it? Yes it is. This movie is hilarious and just sickly over the top enough to be enjoyable. There are a lot of funny scenes that had me either laughing or just shaking my head in disbelief. And only from Japan would something be spawned. But of course, from the director of "The Machine Girl" and "Robo Geisha", a movie like this would have to see the light of day eventually. And personally, then I am glad that I bought this movie for my collection.
"Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is a great addition to any zombie aficionado's collection. But as I said above, preferably only if you enjoy this bizarre sub-genre of splatter and gore movies from Japan.
The story in the movie, well it is fairly straight forward, bizarre and twisted, but funny and enjoyable. A group of young people go out to the woods where they encounter a zombie, and they end up taking shelter in a small house; a house that is used by a doctor to keep his daughter alive through some very unorthodox methods.
The zombies in this movie are indeed something not seen before, so thumbs up for the innovative thinking here, despite it being so extremely weird. But you just got to love the way that they end up moving about as the parasites start to burst out from their orifices.
I will say that people in the movie were doing good jobs with their given roles, which really helped the movie quite well along a great way.
Effects-wise, then "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is not a spectacle of awesome effects and amazing CGI. It makes uses of some fairly simple effects, but they work out well enough, and just adds to the overall bizarre mood of the entire movie.
As a zombie aficionado I enjoy the occasional zombie spoof every now and then, and "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is a great Japanese zombie spoof that mixed enough ingredients of various genres into a strange, bizarre stew that simmers just right and becomes enjoyable in a sickening and oh-so-wrong way. As noted on the DVD cover "...What the f*** did I just watch?" - Hubert Vigilla, JAPAN CUTS - that pretty much sums up the spirit of the movie in the best possible way.

What did anyone expect with this title and director? I get it if you knew what you were getting into and still didn't think it was funny. But some of the reviews saying gross, disgusting, blah blah. Well yeah that is the point.
I was with a bunch of friends scanning Netflix and they quickly passed it by and I yelled STOP! We must watch this just based off the title alone and it didn't disappoint. There was ass, zombies, toilets, dead people. Everything they promised in the title was there in abundance and it was good.
I never laughed so hard at something so ridiculous. It did have some boring spots I give you that, but overall it was hysterical just based on the premise of a girl who couldn't fart because she was ashamed of it. Shakespeare couldn't have come up with a better plot.
If you are with a bunch of friends looking for something crazy, stupid and funny and have had a few beers, definitely watch this.

With such a title, no one expects great cinematic achievement, yet with similar story lines and themes as Prometheus with a trillionth of this budget, this parody will make you laugh much harder. The CGI is not as good, mostly, tongue-in-cheek, but just when you think things could not get more outrageous, the movie manages to top itself. Obviously, frequent use of asses sets it apart, but gross outs, goo, zombies, aliens, orifice penetration, the origin of man, creation, the meaning of life, betrayal, nerdy biologists, bizarre surgical procedures, self sacrifice, ass kicking, and survival feature prominently just as in the big budget film. Put yourself in the proper mood, and this movie will deliver.
You should expect it, right? A movie with a title like that (internationally: Zombie *ss) should be below the belt ... backside-wise. But shouldn't it still be sort of funny? Of course if you set your bar low, you might be able to laugh at quite a few of the jokes I reckon, but judging from the overall rating, I guess not many could oversee the flaws this had/has.
It's a shame, because movies with a punch line can be a lot of fun. Snakes on a plane, Alien vs. Ninjas and other movies have proved that to a better effect. Talking about effects, the ones shown here are decent enough for the small budget this movie has. Performances (if you can call them that) are borderline silly and closer to annoying, but might feel entertaining for some.

If you have watched Tokyo Gore Police and Machine Girl this is similar in its extreme. There's blood like those other two films, but this one is far more gross. As the title suggests, there are special effects that are pretty graphic. I don't recommend you eat before this film if you have a weak stomach. There are a few good fight scenes but they do not redeem the film enough. Of course, its not supposed to be real, but it borders on being disgusting. I give credit to the Japanese for being inventive enough to go to these kind of extremes, but this film is a bit too much to handle. I think teens, early 20's people who like zombie films that are out there may find this worth watching but it is not for mass appeal.
