What a pleasant surprise. This movie was much better than it was described. I thought it ws going to be preachy and full of religion. But, thankfully it wasn't. Just a story about a man who loses his wife and daughter in a car accident. Then moves into a lighthouse where his healing begins.

A couple minor details bugged me. First is after he was in the hospital for a brief stay, he goes and visits the graves of his wife and daughter. Not only were they already buried, there were tombstones already there. Highly unlikely.

The second thing that I found odd was the fact that the foghorn at the lighthouse would honk, once or twice, then wouldn't be heard again for a half hour or so.

These two things didn't make any sense until the end of the movie. I certainly won't be a spoiler, but it does explain these oddities.

Overall, I really enjoyed the performances of the three lead characters. They pulled the film off even though it seemed a bit directionless at times.

Huston and Cornish share a subtle but palpable chemistry, conveying the hesitant blossoming of connection in the face of profound loss. However, this burgeoning relationship ignites a destructive jealousy in Sam, who feels increasingly marginalized and threatened by Hannah's presence, setting the stage for an inevitable and emotionally charged clash within the confines of their isolated world.
