Terror Train

Not bad, original is better ofcourse.

Not bad at all, original is definitely better ofcourse.

But still not a bad remake.

Acting is mediocre but still ok for this, some of the actors are annoying but you can't expect to much from this.

Some good kills, but low budget, gets abit boring at times but so did the original.

Can't expect to much on a train I guess.

Don't go in expecting to much, but I was reasonably satisfied.

Overall a 6 out 10.

Give it a watch on Tubi, it's worth a watch.

I must say I liked this a hell of a lot more than David Gordon Green's disgraceful Halloween Ends or the ridiculous Jeepers Creepers Reborn..

Not Quite The Trainwreck I Expected

Terror Train is a serviceable remake of the original 1980 slasher. It pretty much follows the original beat for beat with a slight sting in the end.

Like the 1980 version, the movie is full of red herrings and only 5 or 6 people really matter despite being on a crowded party train. Robyn Alomar does well in the lead role and makes for a decent final girl.

I was expecting to hate Terror Train but i found it surprisingly less annoying than i thought i would. There are some bad cringe moments but it manages to keep it to a minimum. It was nice to see some of the costumes from the original make an appearance here as well.

Like i said, serviceable.

Pointless and subpar remake

Terror Train (2022) is a near replica of the 1980 version, sans the original ending which still ended up being obvious anyway.

The main problem with Terror Train (2022) is there was no point in remaking the original with a less attractive and more lame cast, paired with a smaller budget. I'm guessing most of the budget went toward renting costumes and filming a rail yard, no money left for hot bimbos. The premise of a slasher on a party train has so much creative potential, yet it all goes to waste here. A looser "remake" with a sexier cast, and more competent director that better understands the art of suspense and fun that goes with a slasher movie meant this could have been good. But really what do you expect these days? If you're the mood, just re-watch the original.

On a side note, special shoutout to Tubi which has low key become the best streaming service available. While it's main appeal is it's massive library of older movies, at least their originals tend to be minor and on the side of trashy low budget entertainment like a Terror Train remake. Still better than the garbage that other streaming services offer.

Lazy and Unnecessary

The original is a pretty standard slasher beyond its gimmick and predictable villain. I always thought the magic thing was weird. At least they got David Copperfield.

This is one is basically the same. The first 90% is one for one. The only difference is the final twist which you can figure out because they stole it from another classic slasher movie.

They just added the most blatant, cheap modernizations possible: a more diverse cast, social media, selfies, dropping trendy terms like "polyamorous", "snowflake", "canceled" etc...

The "Boy Who Cried Wolf" thing doesn't work after the 5th time.

Eh, not that bad

I watched the entire movie and felt compelled to write a review, so there, you have that.

My expectations were low, but I actually enjoyed a lot of this movie. It was pretty predictable. Even without seeing the original, it was pretty obvious who the killer was from the start despite trying to throw a string of red herrings at the viewer.

It was mostly well-acted with a few flat performances, but nothing terrible. The kills were mainly off camera but the gore was pretty good when we got to see it.

This movie was mostly a money grab, I think. It didn't seem to have the love for the genre that a lot of the low budget horror movies have, but like I said, it was still entertaining.

Watch the first. Save this for another

Makes the same mistake so many reimaginings do. It follows the source material too faithfully and in doing so, fails to differentiate itself in any meaningful way. The character names, the storyline, and even some of the costumes are carried over from the previous incarnation. It's fun to see nods to the original in a remake but they tend to work better when peppered in, rather than constant and impossible not to notice. The problems with this reboot extend beyond the filmmakers' desire to retread familiar ground. The characters are also uninspired and there isn't really a standout player to inspire audience investment. This version of Alana (played this time by Robyn Alomar) is kind of spineless. She comes across as a very kind and considerate person but she spends so much of her time doubting herself and apologizing that it's hard to warm to her. She's likable enough on a human level but she doesn't have enough backbone to effectively function as a protagonist. If she doesn't have faith in herself, what reason does the audience have to get behind her?

Never gets on the right track.

A killer crashes a wild college Halloween party on board a moving steam train in order to exact revenge for a cruel fraternity prank three years earlier.

Even Jamie Lee Curtis couldn't save the original Terror Train (1980) from mediocrity; this remake lacks any such star power, and since it follows the original's slasher-by-numbers plot fairly closely, it never builds up a head of steam.

More elaborate deaths and more gore might have helped, but there is a lack of originality in virtually every department, making this an instantly forgettable slasher dud. And if you can't guess the identity of the killer and their (loco)motive fairly quickly then you really need to watch more horror movies (Friday the 13th, for example).

3/10.

Atmosphere And Costumes - That's It

This remake pretty awful, but I have to give credit to the producers recapturing at least most of the original's eerie atmosphere, the dark night on a train scenario. Also, the clown definitely beats the Groucho costume, and the Lizard was an upgrade too. The killer is more intimidating because of these changes, and that rocks. That being said, everything else ought to be thrown into the garbage disposal. The usual overdone political correction and the bad acting add up to a snooze-fest, not unusual in remakes, especially STS (Straight-To-Streaming) remakes. The original is no masterpiece, but it definitely holds your interest on a cold winter night due to the interesting characters involved, such as the weird magician. I got the impression these actors had to hold back from laughing at the cheesy scripts they were given, understandably. It amounts to nothing more than a joke, after all. So, I recommend exiting this flick after you've had a good look at the cool costumes and then switching to something better on TUBI.

Generic, but still enjoyable...

Now, I am not familiar with the 1980s horror movie "Terror Train" from director Roger Spottiswoode, so just how much of a copy and paste job director Philippe Gagnon did of the original I have no idea. In fact, I didn't even know about the 1980s movie prior to stumbling upon this 2022 movie and finding out that it was a remake of an older movie.

Writers Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin put together an adequate storyline and plot here. But of course, I am not familiar with the 1980s movie, so I don't know how different or alike the two movies are. So I cannot compare this remake to the original. And with that being said, then I will say that I enjoyed this 2022 movie for what it was. Sure, it wasn't a groundbreaking horror movie, but it provided me with adequate entertainment.

The cast ensemble in "Terror Train" was good, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Tim Rozon on the cast list, and he was quite good in the movie. Just a shame that he wasn't given more screen time.

For a horror movie, then director Philippe Gagnon didn't exactly break any formulas or go up and beyond what you would expect from a movie such as "Terror Train". But it made for an adequately entertaining enough movie, and that was good enough for me.

My rating of "Terror Train" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Terrible remake

Wow...bad, predictable writing and terrible acting are the headliners in this remake of the the original movie. The ridiculous need to focus on checkboxes, and demonizing certain people is laughable and pathetic at the same time. The lack of original storytelling or any memorable charachters really brings this down a notch. The generic low quality kills and poor effects add to an already sub par outing. The whole clown thing is so unoriginal and so early 90s. Another example of a decent movie being turned into a predictable and uninspiring remake, and missing on all marks. Do yourself a favor watch The Terrifier series of films to see how a slasher movie should be done.

Unimaginative

Dull supposed horror movie. I didn't realise this was a remake until afterwards so it fits that it is bad as with 99% of remakes.

The acting is nothing special although I've saw much worse. The characters are obnoxious and unlikeable so you're rooting for the killer. Who can't despatch them quick enough.

The political correctness is of course peppered throughout the film. They must not be able to get financed unless this crap is included despite the fact that this is a proven turnoff for moviegoers.

I'll have to watch the original and compare for myself and I do hope that it's better than this rubbish.

Tedious, forgettable, pointless remake

The original "Terror Train" is actually a pretty forgettable slasher if you ask me. It seems to be well remembered though, and I wonder if that's because it stars the undisputed scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis.

I'm surprised it took so long for them to remake it, therefore. Everything gets a remake and a reboot and a "requel" in this day and age. The phrase that there is nothing new under the sun has never been more apparently true than it is in the world of film in the new millennium.

There are worse remakes out there than this "Terror Train". The late Tobe Hooper's take on "Toolbox Murders", no great shakes itself, was painfully bad. However it is hard to think of a movie more forgettable than this. The only part of the movie I liked was one amusing character, who I thought might be like the Jamie Kennedy character in "Scream", but then the idiot filmmakers killed him off.

Other than that I just wasn't able to pay attention to "Terror Train". It never interested me at all.

Far better slasher remake than expected but suffers from some flaws

Taking a special train trip together, a class of graduating college students on a special New Year's Eve trip find the experience ruined by a masked killer onboard killing them off in retaliation for a prank gone wrong years ago and must find a way to solve their identity and stop him to get off alive.

This was a generally solid if somewhat useless remake. When this one works is the recreation of the setup which gives this one quite an effective starting point for the events to continue. Offering up the fire prank at the hazing initiation that's close enough to the original but has a slight edge that manages to give it enough of its own touch to be a worthwhile motivation that gets revealed later on. That continues with the interactions on the train which features the same general setup including the groups' sexual hookups behind each others' backs, the main party including the exploits of the sleazy magician interacting with the group, and the series of interactions with the dwindling group discovering the killing going on that makes the story fun. That leaves the film with a highly effective and more enjoyable series of stalking and slashing scenes. The first few scenes with the masked figure sneaking around the train picking off stragglers in sequences that are linked to the concept of no one realizing it's an actual attack undertaking the mindset of a prank. Later scenes here, such as the bathroom encounter, an ambush on an unsuspecting coed expecting a sexual tryst, and a series of chases around the back of the train, have a lot to like with the costume-switching going on keeping the group in the dark on who to trust. The finale, featuring some fantastic confrontations between the survivor and the killer, gets quite a lot to like involving some suspenseful moments and decent gore effects which make this one better than expected. There are some big issues to be had with this one. The main issue with this one is the seemingly obvious one with the unnecessary and questionable need for this one to be a near shot-for-shot remake of the original. Featuring the same general prank, the same general setup, and the same general party on the train being crashed as a form of revenge which causes the film to recreate so many scenes verbatim that so much of the suspense and surprise gets taken away. As well, the inclusion of some rather obvious work done to make the killer obvious renders a lot of the twist ending here underwhelming as a result of pretty much telegraphing everything way too easily. Beyond these factors, though, this one wasn't as bad as it could've been considering its origins.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, and Brief Nudity.

Mostly the same as Terror Train the oraingal

Ok so Terror Train ( 2022 ) The remake available to watch on Tubi ! & Made by Tubi it self . This remake is very much like the original Terror Train released in 1980 . Starting JLC . This remake has Descent enough performance's but likeable charter to be honest . Direction is of ok standards & production but your not going to remember this one ! Ending is different this time around. Unfortunately our lead lady is not likeable this time around meaning the role , they try to make simphetic but that doesn't really come off carwise like we did with Jamie Lee Curtis in Terror Train back in 1980. One it a view l think onces it enough.

The reviews are too harsh on this picture and in all honesty, this is about as good as the original film

Terror Train (2022) is a Tubi Original that I recently watched on...Tubi. The storyline follows a fraternity and sorority on a train ride filled with partying, dancing, drinking, smoking, a magician...and a killer. As the killing begins the bodies are well hidden, until they're not. The group that finds the first body tries to sound the alarm 🚨 but no one believes them and the killing continues until enough bodies pile up where it's impossible to not pay attention. Who is killing everyone and why?

This movie is directed by Philippe Gagnon (Sometimes the Good Kill) and stars Robyn Alomar (Riot Girls), Tim Rozon (Flashpoint), Matias Garrido (1 Up), Nadine Bhabha (Letter Kenny), Corteon Moore (Slasher) and Mary Walsh (Happy Place).

I'm going to start with the reviews are too harsh on this picture and in all honesty, this is about as good as the original film (which I only scored a 6-6.5). The costumes and magic tricks in this are pretty cool. Loved both the lizard and clown costumes. The kills scenes are pretty average but the blood splatter is solid. I enjoyed the opening clown kill before the train leaves. The acting is on par with the original and just okay. The circumstances are fun and the movie unfolds well. The dialogue is very average and the magician is extra cheesy, but so was Copperfield in the original.

Overall, as I previously referenced I would score this about the same as the original and give it a 6/10. It's an above average addition to the genre that's worth watching once but I wouldnt go too far out of my way to see it.

Stop pushing an agenda

Can we stop remaking movies and just changing the actors and pushing an agenda. I understand everything has to be diverse but give me a break. If you found this movie enjoyable then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. The main actors are terrible and it's more like it's a hallmark movie with blood and gore. The main actress is to miss goody, emotional and sounds like a smoker. We need to stop remaking movies and come up with something maybe that will keep our interest. The only thing that will keep you awake is the actresses voice because it's so annoying. I would rather watch reruns.

Unnecessary

An unnecessary remake of the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher, Terror Train. The original is by no way a cult classic as fans of slasher films gush, but why remake the original when there are many more original ideas still out there?

The remake, just like the original, has the novelty of a guessing game about who the killer is. Surprisingly, I guessed right. Come on, folks. You couldn't guess the killer's identity and why?

For what it's worth, this movie did keep my attention, and I didn't mind the multi-racial cast. Would I recommend this film? Only if you haven't seen the original. Final thought. Most likely this movie will be forgotten in a few years.

Watch the 1980 version instead.

It should be law that if you can't improve upon a film, then you aren't allowed to remake it.

The 1980 classic is just that, a classic. It has atmosphere, suspense, cool masks, David Copperfield is so creepy you think HE'S the killer and a twist you never see coming.

Then there's this movie. They've tried to copy the opening scene and it doesn't feel believable. The OG had the nerdiest looking guy alive so you could believe he needed a hand finding a girl, remake nerd definitely doesn't fit the mould. The movie includes fun phrases like "cancelled", "you do not have my consent to touch me" and there's lots of people holding their smartphones to film literally every thing that happens no matter how lame. If you just want to see a lot of fake blood then I guess you'll like this version. They've tried to change the plot with the constant 'who dunnit' but it just starts to feel ridiculous.

The one thing that's creepier in this version is the 40-something magician hitting on the college student. Gross dude.
