Solid revival

Daredevil: Born Again was announced several years ago, shortly after the character's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, this series has undergone a very troubled and very long production. Several episodes of the original show, which had no connection to the Netflix Daredevil beyond a few central actors, were filmed before a massive creative overhaul was ordered. This led to reshoots and revisions, turning the show into a sequel to the Netflix installment.

All this to say, it's clear that Born Again is two shows stitched together. Especially with the first episode, which squeezes probably a good two or three episodes work of plot into one in a desperate attempt to introduce the new elements of the show and refit the original story. This is the show's main problem, along with some of the elements of what would appear to be the original ideas not being very interesting or fitting with the tone of the reshot material. One story is a procedural drama, the other is Daredevil Season 4. Also brought with this new direction are a couple questions, such as how did Kingpin get out of jail after Season 3, and how does the whole Hawkeye/Echo story fit into all this?

Despite this, and some poor use of new characters (the villain Muse in particular), there is still a lot to love. Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jon Bernthal, and Ayelet Zurer play their characters just as well as ever. Cox and D'Onofrio in particular are extraordinary. Kingpin running for mayor leads to great suspense, as you keep waiting for the moment he'll crack and return to his old ways. When he finally gives in, it results in the single most brutal scene I've ever seen from a Marvel or DC property. I thought I was watching The Boys for a second.

Despite some tonal whiplash, Born Again is without a doubt some of Marvel's best post-Endgame content, and I look forward to Season 2, where a singular vision from the show's creative team will hopefully fix most of Season 1's issues.

A Solid Return for the Devil of Hell's Kitchen

This spiritual sequel doesn't try to be Season 4 of the Netflix series, nor does it fully reboot the character. Instead, Reborn threads a careful needle-it reintroduces Matt Murdock into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe while honoring the darker, more grounded tone that made the original show a standout.

Set after the events of She-Hulk and Echo, Daredevil: Reborn finds Matt grappling with a changed New York, a fractured legal career, and a city that no longer believes in heroes the way it used to. Wilson Fisk is back-newly reinvented but as manipulative and calculating as ever-and their decades-long feud simmers with renewed tension. The series doesn't pick up directly from where the Netflix show left off, but fans of that version will recognize familiar emotional throughlines: guilt, justice, and the cost of wearing the mask.

Charlie Cox once again proves he is Matt Murdock. His performance walks the line between quiet resolve and explosive emotion, never losing the wounded nobility that defines the character. The series leans into his dual identity more than ever before, showing a Matt who is at odds with both his vigilante persona and his place in the courtroom. There's more internal conflict here, and while it sometimes slows the pacing, it adds psychological depth that's often missing from MCU fare.

Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin is just as terrifyingly nuanced as ever. Reborn wisely avoids turning Fisk into a caricature of evil. Instead, he's methodical, personal, and hauntingly relatable in his conviction. He doesn't just want to reclaim power-he wants to rewrite the rules of the city itself. His return provides both narrative weight and emotional stakes that elevate the show beyond standard superhero tropes.

Tonally, Reborn feels like a hybrid of its Netflix predecessor and the broader MCU. The violence is dialed back compared to earlier seasons, but it's still more brutal than your average Disney+ series. The fight choreography remains a highlight-gritty, close-quarters, and visually inventive without relying on over-polished CGI. There's a hallway fight, of course-because there had to be-and it doesn't disappoint.

Where Reborn stumbles is in trying to balance its legacy with its new responsibilities as a Disney+ series. At times, it feels caught between two worlds: the mature, brooding storytelling of Netflix's Daredevil, and the lighter, interconnected world of the MCU. Supporting characters like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page are notably absent or underutilized in the early episodes (though rumors swirl about their eventual return), and the series introduces a few new characters who don't always feel fully fleshed out. The show is more restrained, but occasionally that restraint comes across as hesitation.

Despite these flaws, Reborn succeeds at what it sets out to do: reintroduce Daredevil to both old fans and new audiences without undermining what came before. It asks bigger questions about justice and morality in a world now crowded with gods, monsters, and multiverses. What does street-level heroism look like in an era of celestial threats? Reborn doesn't pretend to have all the answers-but it's asking the right questions.

Visually, the show looks great. The cinematography makes excellent use of shadows and urban environments, grounding the action in real spaces. The soundtrack is moody and minimal, occasionally invoking themes from the Netflix series while forging a new sonic identity.

In short, Daredevil: Reborn is a strong return-not quite the gut-punching triumph of the Netflix run, but a thoughtful, engaging next chapter in Matt Murdock's journey. It may still be finding its footing, but with Cox and D'Onofrio leading the way, the future of Hell's Kitchen looks promising.

Loved It

I can't tell you how glad I am that Daredevil and The Punisher are back and finally part of the MCU. As a huge fan of Marvel I'm a little biased because I pretty much like everything they put out. My bias aside, Daredevil was universally loved and thought of as being the best of all the Marvel shows. Daredevil: Born Again picks up right where the original left off and that's being an incredible show. It's actually my favorite Marvel show, with The Punisher a close second. All you have to do is read through the reviews to see how loved Daredevil and The Punisher are. Even the critics loved them. Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio were born to play Daredevil and Kingpin, as was Jon Bernthal to play The Punisher. Those three are absolutely the best part of the show. Now that they've brought back Daredevil and The Punisher, they need to bring back Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist into the MCU somehow. If you're a Marvel fan then Daredevil: Born Again is a must watch.

Excellent show - binge worthy

I started watching Daredevil Born Again without any background on the original Netflix series and honestly, I really enjoyed it. The story was gripping, the action scenes were intense, and the characters instantly pulled me in. After finishing Born Again, I decided to go back and check out the older Daredevil series to get the full picture, and I'm so glad I did.

The original show is just as incredible. The cast, the drama, the way the story unfolds it all adds so much depth to the characters and makes the entire universe even more compelling. Both versions complement each other well, and together they've made me a big fan of the Daredevil story.

I can't wait for Season 2 of Born Again. Whether you're new to Daredevil or a longtime fan, both series are absolutely worth watching.

Good but could be better

From any other company this would just be ok, but I have to grade Disney on a curve because they disappoint so often. D'Onofrio is a treasure as Kingpin. Cox was solid. (Warning a sort of spoiler is coming). I really miss Foggy and could use more of Karen. Bullseye is a wild miss, one of the best comic villains with a true style and they made him bland as hell. Apparently there will be a second season so hopefully the action will pick up some. I also hear we will get more of the Netflix heroes which would be very welcome. As a 66 year old comic fan, it's nice that Disney finally got something right. Keep the classic characters coming and lose Echo, Ironheart, Agatha and Ms. Marvel, all Disney inventions.

Solid Watch, Even Without Knowing the Original

I didn't see the original Daredevil series, so at times I wasn't totally sure what was going on or who certain characters were. But even without that background, Born Again held my interest and delivered a decent experience.

The show has its ups and downs-some episodes feel strong and well-paced, others drag or get lost in slower subplots. Still, it's better than a lot of recent Marvel content. It doesn't reach the heights of Deadpool & Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Loki, but it's a noticeable step up from many of the weaker MCU shows.

Overall, it's a solid watch with a darker tone and a more grounded approach. If you're into street-level heroes or just looking for something a little more serious in the Marvel universe, it's worth checking out-even if you're new to the character like I was.

Truly a work of art

Prelude: As a kid, I devoured comic books-but only the ones that could fully capture my imagination. They had to hook my suspension of disbelief, which isn't easy when the concept of "superpowers" often veers more toward fantasy than science fiction. As we get older, suspending disbelief becomes tougher, which may explain why many adults drift away from comics. Since the turn of the millennium, only a few live-action adaptations of comic characters have genuinely pulled me back in. Two standouts: every episode of "Jessica Jones" and every episode of "Daredevil". (BTW, both are only available on Disney+)

Review: Without spoiling a thing, I'll simply say that Episode 1 of "Daredevil: Born Again" is a masterclass in storytelling-from the writing and performances to the visual direction. Surprisingly, Episode 2 managed to surpass it. And that upward trend continues through the entire season, culminating in a finale that solidifies Vincent D'Onofrio as an even more terrifying presence in "Daredevil" than he was in "Full Metal Jacket". It's no surprise this series is set to return for a second season.

A good series - but it could be better.

How great it is to see the original cast of the series back, including Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Wilson Bethel, and Ayelet Zurer. One thing I want to highlight is that Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk had already appeared in other recent Marvel series, but they had lost the essence of their characters. This series brings that essence back, and as a fan of the Netflix version, I'm truly grateful - even though their characters were heavily affected by their appearances in other shows.

Before I continue my review, I need to mention that this series was released after many Marvel productions that lost their potential, so its release feels important. I hope it sends a message to everyone in the company - and to the entire film industry.

Continuing the review, it's really hard not to compare this Marvel series to the Netflix one. One thing I liked in this version was the fight scenes - they feel more epic and continue to be brutal. However, I still prefer the old series because the fights there felt more natural and realistic. Despite my preference, I enjoyed the action scenes in this series too - they're not bad at all. But one thing that bothered me a bit was that many of the best fight scenes take place in the dark or in smoke, which can make it harder for the audience to follow what's happening.

As for the screenplay, I felt it was very slow and lacked a clear purpose until the last two episodes. That lack of direction can especially be seen in the Muse arc - he's a great villain, but in my opinion, he was underused. Another thing I really disliked was how long it took to explain the lack of connection between the old and new series. Even by the final episodes, there was no clear explanation of why Poindexter did what he did at the beginning of the series, or how Fisk is free and has become the mayor, after being accused of killing Agent Nadeem in season three.

Despite the short number of episodes, I liked the arc involving the corrupt cops and I'm interested to see how they'll be dealt with in the second season. Still, it felt strange not to see other major heroes involved in such an important storyline - especially Spider-Man.

An honorable mention goes to Hector Ayala, portrayed by Kamar de los Reyes, who sadly passed away. Even though his screen time was limited, his presence was powerful and meaningful to the story. I really liked his character and wanted to see more of him. I especially enjoyed the courtroom scenes and his relationship with Matt, as well as his motivations. Overall, even with short time, he made a big impact, and as fans, we should honor him. May he rest in peace.

So, this series is great, but compared to the original, it still has some areas that could be improved - though I'm not sure if those issues were caused by the reshoots. Still, it's a good series to watch, and I'm definitely looking forward to the second season.

HUGE fan of the originals, but forever immune to hypes...

Daredevil was without any doubt the best thing ever to come out of MCU, along with The Punisher. I'm also a huge fan of d'Onofrio, who managed to portray one of the (if not the) best ''super''villain on TV. I've been cautiously optimistic ever since the announcement of its return, but now it's finally here and...

Rushed plot. Scenes and dialogue seem cut short. Too much cramped in 1 episode, resulting in a lack of suspense and character building. Fight scenes seem slowish and at times even silly as if they're cuddling. It's just trying way too hard to match the original, but failing miserably. The production just feels cheap overall, cutting corners all-over. Even the soundtrack and effects seem rushed.

I really wanted it to continue on with the level of quality from the originals, but it simply doesn't. The ratings and reviews here are once again ridiculous. It seems people's standards have been lowered to such an extend that they truly don't know any better any more, or they simply can't afford themselves to feel disappointed. Not that it's bad, but it's quite evident Disney just can't seem to do any thing other than destroy and dumb down. Having some extra violence and blood still doesn't save you from a lack of substance. I really can't be bothered watching any further, it's just that stale compared to the originals.

Awesome. No spoiler review here

From start to finish a great show. Within the dirsr 10 minutes I was hooked and on the edge of my seat. I'm not going to spoil anything in this review. Amazing to see the team ups, the storyline, and some of the shots in the scenes are brilliant. I can't wait for the next season!!!!! Best series present day. This also led me to the punisher which I missed originally(another brilliant show). Great work to everyone involved to make this show happen. If you're a marvel fan or even someone who just likes a well filmed action/drama show this is most definitely for you. Hopefully this will turn on more people so we get more seasons.

A Continuation. Which is welcome

I found the reboot to be thankfully like the 4th installment of an already brilliant series. I was worried that Disney were going to decimate what was one of the best Marvel adaptations ever done. But thankfully it is a faithful and enjoyable continuation of Hells Kitchen and it's gritty and dirty scenarios. Found the acting to be just as compelling, Denofrio being again a big part of that enjoyment. His Kingpin is flawless. Also liked the new additions with Lindsey, Daniel, Sheila and Heather all bringing something new and fresh. I really enjoyed seeing Murdock battle his demons and found the multiple sub plots on the various characters to be enthralling. Can't wait for season 5.

A solid return, hampered by 2 creative teams telling one story

'Daredevil: Born Again' had a rocky start to its creation, but it pulled off a rather impressive season to continue the incredible Netflix series. It has its faults and flaws, but it really hit its stride towards the end giving us a solid season overall. Charlie Cox is still an incredible Matt/Daredevil, while Vincent D'Onofrio shows why he is the one and only choice for Kingpin. Season 1 ends with a pretty explosive setup for season 2 that definitely left us wanting more.

In the end, 'Daredevil: Born Again' moved our characters forward from the Netflix series into its own MCU world with heart, drama, action, and some of the most brutal violence we've seen in a Marvel property.

Brad: 8.5 Josh: 8.5 Final: 8.5.

Great but not good as netflix Daredevil.

I watched all the season of netflix Daredevil and the punisher show after watching them my expectations are bit high and they delivered a good show but not good as OG netflix series. Daredevil born again have many flaws In which they have to work for next season.

But I am glad that new creative team who made episode 1,8,9 really saved the show from becoming another Marvel's mediocore and they are also making season 2 so I am very excited for next season. After facing many problems while the production of this show they really made a solid thing not good as netflix Daredevil but definitely a very Great tv show by marvel after Loki.

I really loved the performance of Charlie cox and Vincent D'Onifrio. Jon bernthal and wilson bethel really nailed their role and I am glad Deborah Ann woll is back as Karen page But they have to improve many things in upcoming season 2 of Daredevil Born again.

Like CGI, choppy fight scenes with to many cuts, rushed episodes, no character development of side characters , Length of episode is very small and I really felt that they wasted Muse.

But I guess marvel is back with their bangers projects so we can believe in marvel and the new creative team. Season 2 will be fire🔥.

Sorry for bad grammer english is not my primary language.

So happy he's back!!!

I truly wasn't sure what to expect with the new Disney+ series, but so far with this season I'm not disappointed. I thought it was going to be turned into some boring, watered-down, kid-friendly show but I was definitely wrong about that!! Lots of action and pleased to see all the characters returned. Also looking forward to more of The Punisher and the next super villians of the series. Also hoping Karen makes another return at some point. Very happy with the show so far, can't wait for the next season. I honestly don't understand any of the complaints and I'm sorry I finished the new season so quickly!

Daredevil The Second

I didn't watch the Netflix series before because it didn't catch my interest. Now I regret that. This show is a continuation of that story, and I only know the main events from those three seasons. I was too busy to watch the old show before this one started. Actually, I couldn't even watch this one on time either. Now I finally finished it, and I really liked it. It was great. The atmosphere was very dark and intense. Many people say the original Netflix series was even better, which makes me more curious now. If I enjoyed this one, I'll probably like the old one too. I think the characters were amazing. I also liked the music, the dark mood, and the fight scenes. Everything felt well made. For me, it's one of the best Marvel shows so far. I'm really looking forward to season two. Some viewers said there wasn't enough action, but I didn't mind that. Watching Matt Murdock deal with his thoughts and emotions, and his decision about becoming Daredevil again, was interesting to me. I enjoyed the drama and the psychology behind it.

Rushed

Great that it's back. Love daredevil and punisher. Storyline rushed, they could have done a lot more in it and with muse. More episodes for more story would have been the difference with a better review. Did prefer to some of the other marvel series that have come out as well - wasn't just another in the franchise had some story to it. Would love to see Jessica jones come back too, their dynamic in defenders was great

Different also from the Netflix series which was storyline and time to enjoy and appreciate the characters. Hopefully future seasons will have more of this instead of a rush to a cruscendo.

It was alright

I barely make reviews but I love the original show and was so pumped for this one to come out,I could hardly wait for season 1 to finish so I started watching the episodes as they came out lol! What I'll say is that 1-3 of the episodes throughout the season felt rushed which kind of took out the liking or even being intrigued with those 1-3 episodes, the new characters that we're introduced weren't too bad. I did like how the storyline was going though and loved seeing Karen,Foggy and Matt on the screen again after all this time and I can't wait for season 2(hopefully not as rushed though). This is why I give it a 8 out of 10.
