In the opening montage (driving into/through Palm Springs), Casey, portrayed by Daniel Skelton, and Penny, portrayed by Lilach Mendelovich, drive by all of the hotels (and the hotel signs are flashed clearly but briefly on screen) which are given credit for crew accommodations in the end credits, The Hacienda at Warm Sands, INNdulge, Inn Exile, The Triangle Inn, and Warm Sands Villas. The characters ultimately check in to "The Triangle Inn, Palm Springs" whose sign is seen very prominently, and lingered over a bit longer, as they get out of their car. Other signs or advertisements for The Triangle Inn and the other cast/crew accommodating inns/hotels are seen fairly prominently throughout the movie.

A couple named Rick and Steve marry. This is a reference to Allan Q. Brocka's television series Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World.

After check in, Casey and Penny walk out to the pool area, and another Triangle Inn sign is clearly shown, "Discover The Triangle Inn Palm Springs, Clothing Optional Resort For Men, Gaycation Weekend!" In spite of this, they were still given a room with one bed and no protest from the front desk clerk, even though Penny is not a man (which, while not prohibited, would strongly not be encouraged by the management in real life). Single gender inns and hotel establishments are common for both gay men and lesbian women throughout the Palm Springs area.

There are frequent "breaking down the fourth wall" moments in the film (meaning that the writers and actors are "winking" at the audience), such as when one of the characters says "It's a long story, I'll explain it in the sequel."
