This movie deserves 0 stars and the title should be changed because it's a very very bad look for the other Ouija movies which are great by the way. The acting in this movie is the worst acting i have ever seen and this is no exaggeration. Everyone involved with this film should be ashamed because it's god awful I would be embarrassed as hell. If I were you I would definitely start looking and thinking about a new career cause acting has never looked so bad. This is a waste of money and time so go watch any other movie anything else I mean anything because you will be disappointed if you try to watch this one. Complete garbage and it's offensive to the paranormal movies that are great.

Whoever did the sounds n music for this should never work again! Constant, loud noises, cracks, bangs n shower noises! It's irritating AF! And it looks like it was made in 2005 not 2025! The footsteps are super loud n it all sounds so off putting! The girls are great in it.

It honestly sounds like the movie is being filmed next to a 4th grade music class when the teacher has left the room and they are just messing around! Wooden blocks being his together, a bass drum banging n awful sudden bursts of really loud crappy Orchestra music! It annoyed me throughout the whole movie, sometimes silence is a lot scarier!

Much like everyone else here I chose to watch this thinking it was part of the Ouija franchise, which actually weren't too bad for what they were. It definitely is NOT, and it doesn't take long to realise.

Ouija: A New Beginning toes the line of falling into the 'so bad it's good' category, but much like in every other area it falls short of that too.

The acting is terrible, and I mean terrible. There isn't a good performance in the whole thing, although to defend the cast slightly they aren't given a lot to work with in the first place.

For example at one point a guy finds a LITERAL dead child while out for his morning run, and just nonchalantly rings someone to tell them.

The special effects are drama school, but the sound design is the real horror show here.

The music doesn't feel right, the audio is often muffled, and dramatic stings play for absolutely no reason.

A car drives down the road - dramatic sting. The waitress arrives with some food - dramatic sting. Someone blinks - dramatic sting.

I think the production company purposefully made it seem like this was a prequel to the second Ouija film (which was a prequel in itself) to trick people into watching.. and I'm ashamed to say it worked.

Please, don't fall victim to the same fate and give this one a miss.

I put this on thinking its new why not, I don't mind a horror even on in the background, however the hair and make up aren't great, the dialogue is even worse its not engaging or thought provoking and the music composition seems out of place and amateurish. I don't want to be unduly harsh but I think the problem is ouija the beginning gives the impression that it is at the bar expected from other films with similar names almost as if its part of a franchise but it isn't. Overall my standards were set with the title and it was let down by the delivery. If you want a low budget nice try movie maybe for if you have younger viewers I can't see it being an issue the only reason they will be up at night is due to the shock they suffered at how badly executed this 'horror' was. Needless to say that I had, of course, never heard about this 2025 movie titled "Ouija: A New Beginning" prior to stumbling upon it by random chance. And with it being a horror movie that I had neither seen nor heard about, and with my love of all things horror, of course I opted to check out what writer and director Jason Hawkins had to offer. Sure, I harbored zero expectations, as movies with the word "Ouija" in the title are usually laughable affairs.

"Ouija: A New Beginning" had snagged a staggering 3.3 rating here on IMDb at the time I sat down to watch the movie. So that wasn't exactly proving that I would be in for a stellar movie experience here. But I still opted to give the movie the benefit of the doubt.

The storyline in the movie was pretty straightforward. It wasn't as if writer and director Jason Hawkins had conjured up a particularly bad script here. The problem with the storyline was that it was very, very formulaic and generic. If you've seen one movie that deals with the Ouija phenomena, then you've essentially already also seen "Ouija: A New Beginning". So yeah, you're not in for anything overly impressive here.

Of the entire cast ensemble, I was actually not familiar with a single actor or actress aside from Elissa Dowling and actor Neil Green. And that was actually a good thing here, as I enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen whenever I sit down to watch a movie. The acting performances in "Ouija: A New Beginning" were fair.

The movie doesn't really make use of special effects, so there was very little assistance to be had here in terms of sprucing up the movie.

I guess they were not able to copyright the basic name and concept of Ouija, so just like when Amityville became a hit there were official sequels but even more knock offs or mockbusters, this is clearly a mockbuster exploiting the popularity of the official 2 films produced by Universal Pictures and Hasbro. I popped this on thinking it was one in the series of the other Ouija films, but it's not. The young girls who play the sisters did a great job and I hope they go far in their careers. I think the giveaway that it wasn't linked could have been the bad hair and makeup, or possibly the bad dialogue. Maybe the story? Who knows. Just a warning it's not what you're thinking it is.

I don't like it when filmmakers jump on the back of successful films by pretending they're something they're not. Like adding Ouija to the title. Or Amityville.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to watch paint dry while actors mumble through a script written on a napkin, Ouija: A New Beginning has you covered. This cinematic disaster manages to take the concept of a haunted Ouija board and do the unthinkable: make it boring.

Let's start with the acting, which is less "scared of ghosts" and more "confused to be on set." The cast delivers their lines like they just woke up from a nap and are still unsure what movie they're in. Emotions range from wooden to slightly less wooden, and not a single performance makes you care about anyone's fate. Honestly, I was rooting for the spirits-if only to put these characters (and the audience) out of their misery.

The directing? Imagine someone trying to build suspense but accidentally filming a slow-moving soap opera instead. Scenes drag on forever, with all the energy of a DMV line. The only thing terrifying here is the editing, which seems to actively avoid anything scary.

And then there's the story. Calling it "silly" is generous. It's a convoluted mess of clichés, plot holes, and nonsense logic. You could probably summon a demon faster than you could figure out what the heck is going on in this script. Best of all, despite being a Ouija movie, the actual board is barely in it. It's like making a Jaws sequel with no shark-just people standing around talking about maybe swimming someday.

Pacing? Think molasses in January. Scares? Nonexistent. Atmosphere? Only if you count the fog of confusion you'll be stuck in while watching.

Ouija: A New Beginning isn't just a bad horror movie-it's a masterclass in how not to make one. It'll leave you terrified that you wasted your time and money.

I dont even know where to start.... Random sounds and music that didn't fit the scene. The acting was unbelievably CRINGE. Even the background actors were awful. The lighting was bright and washed out. The dialog was horrific. Only made it 20 minutes before turning it off. I dont think ive ever had to turn something off that fast before.

It was the best film of the year.. hands down , this has got it all. It reminds me of Twin Peaks , its just so out there with its originality , and the acting was up there with the performances of Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee , the womens performances brought in influnences of Jamie Lee Kurtis , of Neve Campell and Weaver segorny , yes ... this is the kind of film that will still keep coming up on peoples favourate lists for decades to come , possibly centuries to come ... really , how come films get made like this ? I mean , how come films get made like this ? Do i need to say it again ? How come ? They are so good that once you have seen it you can put it back on and just watch it back to back , thats what I suggest you do , this is my third night of repeat watching of this film , I prob have never watched a film 3 nights in row , but thats what I did , it was so good that there was no competion out there to compete with this film ... you enjoy this film , you are lucky to have found this film , and luckier still to have the choice , yes the choice , the choice to watch this over and over , every single night , 7 days a week , 365 days a year ... now that is not luck , that , that , that is fate ...

It's slow at the start for most of the cast; it is their first time in front of the camera. You can tell it's all amateur and low budget, and a good storyline. A lot of background noise for a low budget film. It's actually very good, and I would ignore what the critics have written and slayed the film. Actors, we have to start somewhere. Fair play to the whole team; they have done a brillaint job and dont let the 1star reviews put you off ,i checked other work most of the cast have done and for some of the cast its first their movie and i wish them all the best of luck. The The script's influence resurfaces in parts of our conversations as children.

This film suffers from a staggering lack of quality across every aspect of its production. The acting is uniformly poor, with performances that feel unconvincing and amateurish. Worst acting I've seen in a while. The script is equally underwhelming-poorly written, lacking coherence, and riddled with clichés. The overall story is weak, offering little in the way of originality or emotional engagement.

At times, it feels more like a rushed student project than a professionally produced film, with subpar direction and an absence of cinematic vision. It's difficult to even classify this as a proper movie given its glaring deficiencies. Unfortunately, it stands out as one of the worst viewing experiences I've had in recent memory.

This was just awful. Scenes that made no sense. No flow, bad acting and the sound...geez. I can't really say anything as that would be the whole movie and I don't like giving spoilers. Bad concept, and not follow through on any character. Wa this someones class project? From start to finish you will wonder why, like I did.

'Ouija: A New Beginning' is downright hysterical to watch. If you need a 'so bad it is good' film, this is a perfect option. You will be laughing at so many of the bizarre filmmaking choices on display.

The sound effects in this are hilariously terrible, as this one piece repeats constantly throughout scenes. You get to hear an obnoxious 'dun-dun' sound frequently and it even drowns out the dialogue at points. Certain scenes had incredibly obvious dubbing as well.

Every single performance was phenomenally terrible. They all deliver the poorly-written dialogue in such campy ways. The narrative is horrendous and attempts to create a 'clever' twist that is thoroughly silly.

The cinematography and editing is absolutely ridiculous, even for a more amateur production. This is a great 'so bad it is good' film to watch with friends.

The acting is some of the worst I've seen, honestly. I had to make sure that this wasn't an English dub over a different language. The script feels like it was written by my ten year old self rather than full adults. This movie had potential with a different script and better direction. I genuinely think that I could have made this a much better movie, as someone with absolutely no experience in film.

So at first I was disappointed because I realized right away this was not part of the other ouija movies. However, I loved the acting even though it's a b-movie vibe the entire time. There was just something endearing about the wonkiness and awkwardness of it. Especially the teachers at the school. Very Napoleon Dynamite-esque. It was a fun watch if nothing else.
