Well done documentary except one small error

Okay, this is a great documentary and is unlike these recent multi episode documentaries that are repetitive and so drawn out it's almost an insult to your intelligence. I love documentaries and some of the caliber of some of them lately are such a waste of time. This one really delivers. I remember this case. I'm from Boston but I never got this level of detail back when I followed the case in the media.

My biggest gripe is the very 1st episode and the most important detail is this took place in NEWTON, MA. They have it in the main opening credit as Newtown. For me, this led me to wonder what else they got wrong if they could spell the name of where this all went down inaccurately displayed in the opening credits? I can't help it but this lack of attention to detail bugs me. In the end, I still would rate this as a very compelling watch despite the major error but I'm that person that has to mention that.

How come so one sided?

This series jumped right in, very little background outside a bunch of small town Brits saying she could not be guilty. So I was curious what both sides were as I had not heard the story before. This series focused on the defense side, but only gave window dressing to the actual substantive testimony of some defense experts. So I thought good, we are getting past the fluff to fact. But then back to fluff and only a brief review of one prosecution witness. Then the horror of the conviction, and that single prosecution expert rethinking thier role. Great. But that was it, coupled with insults to America, and she was free due to a judge throwing out all judicial proceedings and going alone. Just be a man and cancel trial and decide from your pulpit. Then ending credits say it a British documentary. So now I understand the slanted story line. A baby killer walks free, congratulations Britain!!!

i you dont feel...

Dented after watching this then youre not human. Im a grumpy old man, with a grumpy old opinion, that i do not want to share, other than that this is a piece of brilliant documentary making, and whatever the nays and jays that roared all over the world, even here in tiny little norway back then at the weestart of the digital age, a roar of justice that really never will be settled... so let them all rest in peace .

A great documentary that reflects both sides and the third parts and the intense mediacoverageas well, so go ahead and watch and sense how it all felt back then.a must see whether you like it or not.

Finally, a documentary that isn't bloated with filler episodes

I am sick of the 6-10 episode documentaries that never quite get to the point. This documentary remained focused on the story, featured almost all of the key people involved, and kept a balanced viewpoint. If I had to nitpick, I would complain about the repeated use of certain video clips, but it never felt like they couldn't get the necessary footage for the story.

It's a sad story, but it's worth watching.

Loved it!

The miniseries is absolutely fascinating, I really enjoyed watching it!

I had no prior knowledge of the case, so some of the twists and turns really surprised me.

"Stepford" Mother

The glazed-eyed stare of the baby's mother, coupled with the fact that the shaking could have happened a day or two earlier than the 911 call convinces me the mother is the true murderer.

There is an excellent episode of Law & Order: SVU that is likely based on this incident. The nanny is initially accused because the child was in her care at the time of the child being nonresponsive but it is later determined that the shaking was actually done by the mother 2 days prior.

I am firmly convinced that the mother "did it".

That glassy stare in every courtroom photo just screams guilt. Like she's thinking "Oh my God, did I shake him too hard the night before? Was it my fault?" Meanwhile, an innocent girl, a child herself, was put through the wringer.

I lived in Boston when this happened. I was a paralegal at the time and watched this case closely, as we all did. Nothing will convince me that the POS mother ISN'T the one responsible for the shaking that lead to Matthew's death. Her since then posturing does nothing to assuage her absolute guilt.
