Stop making karla out to be a victim!! She was just as involved as he was if not more so. No one died until she came along. You can see in the tapes she's not traumatized in any way. Several times she was left alone with both Leslie and Kristin. She is pure evil.

These people are truly delusional in their belief that karma is not equally as monstrous as Paul- she was an absolute monster who went in for her interviews trying to look as demure and innocent as possible, pulling the wool over these people's eyes. She was a willing participant in the horrendous acts, and the tapes are proof of that.

Stating some insipid comment about 'this is Canada, this type of thing doesn't happen here!', yet it does and still does. Making excuses for Leslie's mother LOCKING HER CHILD OUT OF THE HOUSE, excusing the Homulka parents for allowing this monster to live in the house when their child was under 18, when he was far older than her, 'oh he was so motivated and ambitious!!', yet he is living in your home with no job and no potential fora career ? Then allowing their 15 year old child to become so intoxicated, and what Paul AND KARLA did to her is blatantly evident on the tapes, while he was a welcome addition to the family?

Karla and Paul should have been thrown in the prison and left to rot. There's no rehabilitation for demonstrably evil people such as them- how these officers could have allowed this to continue unabated for so long, and having no clue how to go about an arrest. Given their atrocities in the Barry and Honey Sherman case, this should come as no surprise to anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

This retelling is insane- portraying Karla as some innocent with no clue is a travesty to the victims she readily participated in destroying, and these filmmakers should be ashamed.

I thought it was well done. A lot of information I didn't know about the case, including the footage. These two are monsters. People complaining how easy they were on Karla didn't watch the whole series clearly. I'm glad to see they spent a lot of time on the victims, which is how it should be. Hope the police keep an eye on Karla though.

Side note. Leigh-Anne Plato is stunningly gorgeous, almost derails the documentary.

Although this documentary was quite thorough and held back no details of one of the most sickening couples and their crimes in history, the series ended up being bloated to the point of dulling the horrific impact of the overall story. I lost count of how many times they showed the same video clips to make the same points that had already been made repeatedly. Talking heads, who knew a great deal behind the scenes as well as some knowing the perpetrators personally, also seemed to repeat themselves far too often. Overall, my rating was lowered simply because we could have learned all the same information about this notorious case from a 2 hour series just as easily as the long drawn out 4 hour series we got.

Ken and Barbie Killers: The Lost Tapes (2021), now streaming on MAX, is a chilling and heartbreaking documentary. It follows the shocking story of a seemingly perfect Canadian couple-blond, attractive, and happily married-who are, in reality, serial killers responsible for the kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder of teenage girls. Directed by Jim Nally (Madness in the Fast Lane), the documentary includes interviews with those close to the couple, legal experts, lawyers, jurors, friends, and family members, offering a comprehensive view of the case. The couple's heinous crimes are almost too shocking to comprehend, and the accounts of their victims' suffering are both horrifying and deeply tragic. The film does not shy away from the emotional weight of the story, making it a difficult but important watch. The courtroom drama that follows adds another layer of devastation as the extent of their depravity comes to light.

However, one flaw is the overuse of repetitive footage between segments, which can detract from the overall experience.

In conclusion, Ken and Barbie Killers: The Lost Tapes is a disturbing yet compelling documentary that exposes the depths of human evil. I would rate it 8/10 and strongly recommend it.
