Not nearly as good as his other shows but not as bad as reviews claim

The show isn't too bad. But it does feel like Cem's just "funny" ranting instead of doing stand up. If you're not Turkish or very well versed in Turkish culture this isn't for you. You might enjoy Cem's previous stand up though.

The funniest bit was the last joke about Nasreddin Hoca. Probably the best weed joke I've heard in ages. Considering weed isn't socially acceptable in Turkey I was surprised he included the bit.

All in all I really enjoyed it. I love Cem and his stand up. He's basically the only stand up I even know from Turkey but Esp some of his older stuff is brilliant. I hope netflix keeps making more Turkish content. On a sorta unrelated note I really appreciate that they have Turkish subs etc even in countries outside of Turkey that have large Turkish minorities. As my parents who don't speak English love the fact that they can watch foreign shows with Turkish subtitles and dubs.

If you're looking to learn about Turkish culture. Comedy is never really a good way to learn about a culture (as a beginner). You're better of watching something else since you won't understand most of his jokes or humor. If you're trying to learn more about Turkish culture and you're already pretty deep into it, then this might help.

Economy Plus

It's always difficult to watch Cem's standup shows after seeing the heights he had reached in his previous shows. The expectation levels are set high. This show does fall below par some of his previous work but, it's still enjoyable.

Like most of his previous work he pokes fun at cultural behaviours. There were funny ones and not so funny ones. There was even a moment where one of his jokes failed and there was an awkward silence.

He didn't engage with the audience as much as he used to. There was only one interaction which didn't end up being a laugh out loud moment.

Overall, I did enjoy it and would recommend it.

He lost touch with common people.

Too many contradictions he told in this 1.5 hours. Is it okay to stand up comedian can say contradict things because it's joke? No. Even lets say it's fiction charecter. Even this charecter should keep a line. Contradictions: "I can't take vacations. It was 1985 last time I went vacation." After this statement he tells jokes happened while he was vacationing on 3 millions euro cost yacht. And he claims he is very an average income guy. Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis C. K they talk about money too in their shows but never claims they average Joe. They say they are rich. If someone telling you lies for sake of jokes it's insulting.

His take on the people who wish to help others if they win lottery " if you are a good person what are you doing at lottery ticket line". I didn't know that buying lottery ticket makes you bad.

A lot of complaining / jokes about his fans who try to talk to him or take a selfie with him. Jokes are funny if you can get common ground and so you can say "yea it happened to me or I witness same situation. So no one has these problems. Obviously he lost touch with common people.

As Cem Yilmaz himself said, it doesn't taste old :)

As Cem Yilmaz himself said, it doesn't taste old :) Of course, I read the comments and there are those who say it's awful, of course it's not terrible and boring. It was nice and enjoyable, but other stand up shows were funnier.

Cem Yilmaz has always been and will always be the #1

Lately, Turkey has been going through very hard periods of time regarding economics, politics and social peace and acceptance at the top of the worldwide pandemic. Most professionals would refuse to perform under these circumstances because Turkish society has been experiencing such a breakdown over politics at every aspect of life and suffering polarization and hate. It is definitely not easy to make such people laugh under these conditions for sure. I am lucky that I live in the US so I did not miss the greatness of this show. Some Turkish people think he lost his connection with the Turkish people because he has started talking about the wealthy and rich. I am not sure what kind of nationality wealthy and rich people in Turkey are and why they are not considered as 'people' but it was so funny to hear about their life and challenges. My favorite part was where he brought awareness to the homophobia in Turkey. Cem Yilmaz is not only a stand up he is also a very talented drama artist. He can make any voice and imitate any person in this world. He uses his body language, mimics, gestures, his voice and vocals, his incredible ability to mimic others, dance, sing, etc. In such a way only drama artists employ. Anyway... he made me laugh a lot and that's what matters to me the most. No one in Turkey is as happy as 20 years ago including his unrelenting political opposers since he is known for his undeniable respect for Ataturk. Cem reflects this widespread cloud of discontent and unhappiness over the country in his performance without any hesitation. He is an artist not a politician so he shares his protests through his art.

Was not neccesary

Cem Yilmaz was and will always be #1 comedian in Turkey. However, this one never could keep up with the previous 2 (Fundamentals etc.). But I guess it's normal. It's quiet impossible to become even more funny. This one was just some nice talking with several jokes here and there.

Deserved Explanation on Fart jokes, Misogyny and Homophobia

I would like to start with hype of Cem Yilmaz hate. Believe it or not its a thing. It could be related some views or lifestyle of Cem Yilmaz or a fresh garbage idea of criticizing something well done make you look cool. Assume this comedy show deserves 1 star what comedy show will deserve 10 then. It was a show that I laugh more than enough and pushed to think when I didn't laugh. There was also great determinations throughout the show.

Lets answer some of the claims of other reviews too. Fart Jokes. Yes there is an s at the end like all the show contain fart jokes. There was one particular joke with fart (not on fart) and it was an explanation of childhood fantasy. Misogyny ? Easy to claim things there were not there. May we understand where did you get the idea of misogyny at this show? Of course not. Homophobia? Its a real thing and there is nothing to defend it in the show. Its normal to say that I do not sexually like the body of man as its normal to say otherwise. This is clearly not a homophobic statement. There was many other jokes too yet the review mislead people like the show has no other jokes in it.

Sometimes I feel like people do not get the jokes or not in the mood. Watched it with a friend and we both laughed like hell. A legendary show to me.

not bad

I'm really irritated of a woman's laughter amongst the audience from the beginning till the and of the show, she's laughing extremely (unnecessary btw.). The editors should have lower her voice down or completely removed. That's so annoying.

Not funny anymore :(

When I was a child, I remember his first stand up shows, I was laughing non stop, again and again but i cannot say that anymore. Time goes by, everything is changing and jokes of him a little old fashion anymore.

For his legendary reputation , I will give 5 but this is really not funny anymore. :(

A mirror to Turkish society

This show has been nominated by many as the 'worst' stand-up performance by Cem Yilmaz. However, I kindly disagree with this notion as I believe this chapter is the most matured, iconic and timeless version of his unique style and be watched even in the upcoming decades; even though he had indicated that he has no desires to be remembered for centuries.

I have been following all of Yilmaz's works over the years, as most of the Turkish generation X and Y did. I think this was his peak performance in terms of critics of the Turkish elite, mid-class and even the politics. Therefore, it is to be expected that this will not be appreciated by many in present and does not appeal to the masses; yet I wholeheartedly believe that this is the peak of Turkish comedical action and will remain there for many more years.

Every summit has a fall

It seems like it has fallen into repetition and the audience has changed.

Even by himself, it is humorously said that Cem Yilmaz has a tendency to fall after CM101MMXI Fundamentals (2013). Although Cem Yilmaz's way of creating the joke has not changed, interestingly, the audience he addressed seems to have come from the lower/middle-income to the upper-income. This gives the impression that he is making the same jokes for a new audience, not the audience he used to make.

When we look at it as a whole, the common elements that make Turkish society laugh are still a part of his standup. However there is something missing as everyone has stated. I think it's about Cem Yilmaz starting to do things that are in the shadow of his past success. In short, we are not satisfied because we have seen better.

Some laughs but the magic is gone

Watching this I cant help but think Cem only did this for a fast cash grab. Ive watched his other shows several times over and over and they are hilarious. He engages with the crowd, improvs jokes on the spot.

But this.. I don't know if its the limited time of 1.5 hours, he usually has double that. He never gets that laugh he did before, he doesn't feel as engaged or into it himself.

Its like I said, something he just did just because everyone does a show on Netflix and probably got a pretty good paycheck out of it. I don't mind that, its just, when you know he has the potential and this is what you get. Its pretty obvious he isn't doing his best. Or maybe the magic is just gone.

Some people in the rain

I think the audience is divided into two: 1- Those who compare it with previous similar works and ignore creativity and effort (which audiences can't enjoy almost any production they watch). 2- Those who just go with the flow and experience the journey of the story told, (if you are in this category it means that you laughed well 3-5 times, which may have exceeded 10 or even 20 for me). So, anything less than 8 points would be unfair, +1 also my own opinion because we laugh at very few things sincerely these days. It's EXTRA VALUABLE in this respect.

I want to leave a final word to first category: "Some people feel the rain, others just get wet." Ha bu da böyle biline.

Respectfully dear Cem Yilmaz

There are dozens of stand up comedians at Netflix. Best of these comedians maybe have maximum 20% of Cem Yilmaz's theathral skills such as story telling, dramatization, mimics, usage of voice etc. This is also art you idiots who are badly voted by comparing this show with previous ones. Show was not boring at all. It was quite enjoyable. Even if jokes were not his best, just see the art on the scene which he is performing by his unique scene skills. Thanks Cem Yilmaz. Your existance is even more than enough👏👏

Fart jokes and homophobia is funny?

I already started watching with very low expectations. Everyone said it was not funny compared to his old shows, but I wanted to give it a chance without comparing it to them.

I was very surprised how low the bar was thought... The show was full of misogyny and I was really surprised when the longest bit was about fart jokes. I did try to have fun and giggle a little bit in the beginning, until it got to the homophobic jokes. He constantly says the jokes are not homophobic when they are and he's trying to make everyone believe him, which is the saddest part. In a country like Turkey, this is really dangerous.

The jokes took too long. He would tell a story for 5 minutes even though the punchline was in the fist couple of seconds. You try to endure it but honestly there is no point.

You can sense how unfunny the show is by the audience as well. When they cut to them, you can see half of them not laughing or clapping and honestly it's just sad.

I get that it's hard to put on a show like this, but when your main points are misogyny, fart jokes and homophobia, it's really not worth to try.

Maybe if the swearing was lesser, it would have been better, but if you take out all those parts, you're basically left with nothing.

If you're watching it for the nostalgia, don't because you won't feel it. I certainly won't be supporting him after most of the comments he makes.

Mature in thinking, mercy in thoughts.

Cem Yilmaz is undoubtedly most successful and prominent Turkish comedian in recent era, where his jokes has always been picked carefully from the vast majority of how Turkish people behave in a way that it is funny in nature but acted as if it is casual. These conflict observations and perfectly timing in telling always held Cem at top. Cem is now 48, and rather then trying to serve the unexpected energy of age of 20's again, he now creates the synergy of 25 years' experience on scene with the cliches of stereotype behaviors, and performs as an comedian who probably has last years on telling.

Out of context, some incorrect comments would make Cem upset as blaming him of being homophobic or racist. Fortunately, those claims are the cliches that Cem is trying to explain with his humour, and those people again blaming Cem as he is trying to tell!

So bad

So bored. I didn't had fun. Same jokes over and over and over again. A lot of swearing. He said Ata Demirer's (comedian) movies are bad over and over again too. Fart jokes, misogyny and homophobia is fun for you then watch the show. Otherwise don't ever think about it.

Best regards to Cem Yilmaz I wish everyone a happy year

Best regards to Cem Yilmaz, the great humorist. I wish everyone a happy year. It should be known that there is only one man who does standup professionally in Turkey, not two. He is also Cem Yilmaz.

Brilliant

My girlfriend and I watched it on new years' eve and that was some amusing 1.5 hours. It was quite entertaining and we laughed a lot. So many people here are trying to compare his previous workpieces stating that he is no longer funny but I highly doubt about this is the common idea in turkey since his movies and shows are sittle attracting millions of people so that maybe that idea is belong to very noisy and small group. ( I don't want anyone to get offended, it's just my idea)

waste of time

I really disappointed after watching this show as an old fan. First of all he had a very low and negative energy. What I mean is it is like he had some tension or argument right before the show. He used offensively abusive language throughout the show. I took this as an insult or lack of respect to the audience.

The contradictions between his stories are too disturbing.for ex. He said he cant go on a vacation since 1985 after telling us his blue voyage yatching holiday few years ago.this kind of contradictions decrease his credibility.

His homofobic jokes were also disturbing. For me this show is a waste of time. Sloppy and poorly presented.

Legend

You will be talked for 800 years. He is genius and he is aware of it. Time by time it is getting easier for him to make a joke. If he want He can write new show in one night. And I think he s doing it very short time. But still amazing.

Curtains were beautiful

He says laughing wasn't needed in old times if you had an idea out of it. This show is missing an idea.

He is telling homophobic jokes and they were very harmful ones too like they aren't enough homophobic people in Turkey.

It definitely not platinium diamond or elite. It's so slow 1 minute he tells same stuff you get the joke first 5 second, old jokes were 5 second before you get the joke he starts another.

Only thing positive was curtains, they were beautiful. Maybe we expect too much from him because he was iconic and defined the comedy like last 20 years. It felt 4 hours of sadness with only 90 minutes.

Finally I need an apology from him for those harmful jokes before watching him ever again.

Keske daha önce seyredeydik...

Let me start with the negative comments here:

First, someone wrote here that he lost his touch with people: in this show, however, he has more references to the oral and written literature of Anatolia and Turkish literature than all of his previous shows combined. So, this comment is nothing but of ignorance. I am sure that those people have never read anything by Yunus Emre, Nasreddin Hoca, and the book of Kutadgu Bilig, and I am also sure they have never had a look into the musical heritage of Anatolia, Balkans and Mesopotamia. Talk about irony, right?

Second, the homophobia joke: his joke is that his joke would be considered "homophobic" even though it is a joke against homophobic people!!! And he says, in the joke, some people will think that!!! Another irony by the way.

And one last thing: what happened to your mouth?

Edit: IMDB (amazon) does not let me use the letter "sh" in the title.

Edit 2: Whoever wrote "As Cem Yilmaz himself said, it doesn't taste old :)" that is not what he said. In fact, what you wrote, or how you translated it directly contradicts with your comment.

Disappointment

Wow I didn't expect it to be this bad.

Cem Yilmaz is one of the best in standup in Turkey. Like everyone else, I laughed a lot, had fun in their old shows. So my expectations were high of course.

But unfortunately the show was pretty bad let alone being average. I rarely had a smile on my face. I didn't laugh once. Mostly i watched with boredom. The jokes are so bad, commonplace, been done many times before. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. I fell asleep for the first time in a Cem Yilmaz show.

Everything is changing but sad to see cem changed so badly.
