We Need Answers first broadcast in 2009 on BBC4 and saw the likes of comedians Alex Horne, Tim Key and Mark Watson asking 2 celebrities each week questions, based on the responses a text answering service would say. (Remember 118 118)
Alex's PowerPoint graphics, animations and little jingles he plays throughout are hilarious. The 'let's meet the contestants' tune is too funny. If you love Taskmaster and The Horne Section you can see some early Alex in full flow.
Tim Key plays the role of question master. At the start of every quiz round Tim emerges from a smokey set of swing doors, sat on a leather armchair on rails. This concludes with the chair coming to an abrupt stop with Tim almost falling out.
Mark maintains the role of main host and keeps the show going with added jokes and observations throughout.
The one part which always gets me laughing is when they describe the scoring. 2 points for a right answer, 0 points for a wrong answer and 1 point if its quite right. The quite right score is always proceeded by the guys doing abnormal body movements and hand gestures which grow in absurdity throughout the series.
Every show is split into the same rounds.
Round 1: Burning Answers and fiddly questions
Round 2: You or Him/her
Round 3: Physical Challenge
Round 4: Quick Fire Meltdown round
Final Round: House Prize Showdown
The loser has to walk off the stage wearing the clogs of defeat.
For a relatively small audience on BBC4, the show attracted some high calibre guests who were all heavily invested in playing along.
Preciously witty, and the comedic styles play on one of Tim Key's characters that he belittles Alex all time.
This show needs to come back, I would do anything for a pack of We Need Answers Dates.
