Story: very slow, dramatic, and (to me) not very interesting.

Actress & Actors and Acting: this is the first time to me watching a Denmark production, so I'm not very into it. In my opinion, the cast wasn't that bad.

Conclusion: In my extremely humble opinion, especially for the fact that this is the first time I've watched a Denmark production, this show was very slow. While the drama side can be welcomed by others, I didn't really liked it.

On the other side the story of the writer was well managed (still slow), but, sadly, that was the only satisfying thing of this show (and I repeat, it's just my opinion, someone else can find it good or even amazing).

This Series is a beautiful moving and deeply touching story. The filming is wonderfully constructed. The Danish are so good at creating wonderfully absorbing series. A very moving portrayal of Karen Blixen and perfectly casted. Connie Nielsen is spellbinding . Loved everything about it. The interspersing of the Gothic Tales with the story is achieved seamlessly. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a moving and memorable series that touches the soul. You can't but feel that the family bonds and challenges are real and leave you with deep emotions and perspectives of the struggle of single women in a man's world.

The first episode promised a potentially interesting watch with beautiful scenery and the stunning backdrop of a Danish stately home and grounds. . The second episode I was getting fed up with a narcissistic hugely privileged woman with really bad taste in men sulkingly and selfishly disregarding the people around her as not up to her sense of self importance. She wasn't the gifted , talented woman of her era, she was literally the epitome of spoilt brat. By the third episode I couldn't finish it,my time is too precious. As for her 'tales' interspaced in the drama I found them so annoyingly naïve and dreary, no wonder no publishers were interested. The cinematography was well done, the subject was not worth the effort.

I love Karen Blixen's work and was thrilled to see this, especially filmed at the beautiful family home, but couldn't watch more than a few minutes due to the handheld camera shaking all the time. It's like motion sickness. I know it's a special effect to reflect emotional turbulence etc (but a quick search showed it's not popular with viewers when not completely necessary). Connie Nielsen was perfect for the role and even in the minutes I saw was compelling and didn't need a shaking camera to convey emotion - she's already doing that so well you forget instantly that she's acting. The actors, the scenery, the writing, all gorgeous but I couldn't watch it. Very disappointed.
