Trust me. Watch till 8th episode. Your patience will pay off.

Rest, please watch... Dont waste your time searching for the right review. It's fun!

I am writing this review because i have to cover the base word limit. Nothing important below there. That's just me explaining why i am loving watching this show. No spoilers...just my happy thoughts about the show.

Jusy finished watching EP 8. What a banger episode. The Nostalgia, the character development, the story arch changing. And you actually feel for the characters, their relationships with each other. And Peter's dilemma of choosing the side that with humour.

A very lighthearted but beautiful watch.

Much better than reviews suggest

This show is one of the better recent products the MCU has delivered and I'm shocked at the amount of negative reviews.

The animation is fantastic, mixing simple images with complex movements. It's very clean animation-wise compared to recent animated hits like the Spiderverse series and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem. It's unique enough to help the show stand out while staying simple enough to take nothing away from the other well done aspects.

I've also been very impressed with the voice acting all around. Many of the voice actors appear to be paying homage to the voices we are used to, almost putting their own take on those who came before them.

Overall this is worthy of a watch.

75%.

Such a breath of fresh air!

This show has a certain charm to it that's tough to put into words... But I can try!

If, like me, you've been a Spider-Man fan for more than 29 years, you've likely seen the New Yorker go through several shows, movies, games and everything in between. But, seldom does the medium convey the hero's innocence and nostalgia like a comic book read. And that's exactly where this show hits the spot!

It has everything you'd expect in a Spider-Man narrative, but with a lot of twists. Different characters, familiar origin stories and fresh faces.

A lot more people need to watch this, and I genuinely hope the showmakers continue to evolve this series.

Please watch all 10 episodes before even thinking of writing a review here. This show deserves better rating!

I was very skeptical about this show since it was announced. TBH, even its trailer and the lack of hype around it made me almost skip this show, but I am glad I gave it a chance!

I am a big Spider-Man fan, so I have watched or at least know about many different shows, movies, and comics about Spider-Man. Trust me when I say the show gets better after the first two episodes.

I like their decision not to make this show feature in the main MCU timeline, so we are getting many unexpected and less popular characters from the Spider-Man stories!

I just finished all ten episodes, and I absolutely enjoyed this show. The episodes surprisingly felt like a breath of fresh air. There was something exciting in each episode, and the fact that they released the entire season in sets of two or three episodes per week was a good decision. Other shows, especially superhero-related shows, should release episodes like this, IMO.

Though I am praising this show, there are a few things that some people may not like, or this show might not feel enjoyable to them, but this is a different take on the same character we all know and love. With MCU having the rights to almost all of their crucial characters, I am glad they are using them all without messing with the main timeline.

The animation style is not something I really liked, but I got used to it after some time. Though they have made some changes to a few characters' origins and appearances, I feel it is more like the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse decision, where they are basically just considering a different timeline than the most common one.

I am excited about the next season, and I just hope they do not make fans wait too long. I recommend you give this a shot, but if you do, please watch more than three episodes.

A perfect blend of the old and the new.

As a person who has been around Spiderman since the beginning, I can say this is a perfect mix of the old and the new. The original Peter Paker was smart but not an actual nerd. This is the Peter Parker updated for the 21st century so I guess you can't be smart without being a nerd. This means Parker will do some stupid things the original Parker would never consider. Since we are in a diverse culture I understand the changes in the supporting characters. The animation style is on point with the earlier comic books which is a nice touch and better than the original cartoon of the 60's. I am enjoying this version of Spiderman and can respect the vision they are trying to make.

Meh

I saw all episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It's not terrible, but it's not that good either. I would have preferred a Spider-Man '98 or a Spectacular Spider-Man season 3. This show, though entertaining at times, is overall boring in my opinion. The animation looks weird, some of the characters aren't that interesting, and now, I don't want to get all political or anything, but they made lazy race-swaps on Harry and Norman Osborn. It just felt pointless and stupid to do it. Anyways... I liked the tombstone storyline, it was pretty cool and all. I'm however, pretty disappointed that this isn't an MCU Spider-Man origin story. So overall, it's decent, but generic.

"6.6? Really? This show deserves a higher score."

I don't understand why fans are so hostile to a new animation.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Judging from the two episodes released so far, the quality is no less than that of Spectacular Spider-Man in 2008 and the Spider-Man animated series in 1994.

This is a Spider-Man story in a parallel universe, not a traditional Spider-Man story.

From the perspective of the play, the thought and ingenuity put into the first episode made the first episode so outstanding. It almost covers all the elements of Spider-Man adaptations.

Telling the story of Spider-Man from the perspective of a friendly neighbor gave me a big surprise. I like that Spider-Man gave the thief a second chance after catching her. I like Peter's daily life as a high school student. I like the interaction between Aunt May and Peter. I like that Lonnie is still strong in such a chaotic neighborhood.

The title cover of each episode is different. The arrangement of the music in the performance makes me very happy when watching Spider-Man swinging in city.

The second episode is about how Peter, a newcomer, balances heroism and daily life. The firefighting plot is really a classic in the Spider-Man story, and the screenwriter can still play new ideas in the classic.

The fight in the pet store is really interesting. Rescuing dogs, pet fish and birds really makes this character a lot cuter.

In short, I really think this is going to be a great Spider-Man show. When I saw the imdb rating, I was really confused by the low score. It deserves a higher score.

A great breath of fresh air for spiderman

A breath of fresh air; the story doesn't follow the usual narrative line typical of Spider-Man and reinvents itself by modernizing pre-existing characters, giving them new life. The characters surrounding Peter feel real and face their own struggles, especially Lonnie, whose story is phenomenal. This series is how I wished Spider-Man in the MCU had been introduced. Comic accuracy is also phenomenal: the feeling i had reading the original comics are the same i got by watching the show, Spiderman stories and Peter stories full of personal drama and "gossip".

However, the reasons that drive the character to become Spider-Man are not very clear and are barely explored. I see this as a missed opportunity to reinvent the character in this aspect.

A NEW SPIDER-MAN IN A NEW UNIVERSE!

I love the character development, the Pop art style, the voice acting, and the design. This is clearly not the same universe as the other iterations of Spider-Man. So I don't understand why people are whining about how it's so different from the other iterations of Spider-Man. I've been into Spider-Man since the 1966 version (in the late 70's reruns). I watched Spider-Man on the Electric Company in the 70's, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends in the 80's, the TV movie, and all of the films. They each have their own approaches and are special in their own way. I appreciate this fresh take and highly recommend it!

When apple pie becomes rhubarb crumble

Nothing wrong with apple pie or rhubarb crumble, but once you start changing the basic ingredients of one it soon becomes the other. I get it, the makers want to bring it up to date and take the story into a new direction etc. - inject a new cultural demographic. However, having seen many versions of Spiderman from the 70s, to date I am not sold on the amount of changes. Don't get me wrong, this is well worth a watch, it is drawn and voiced beautifully - with a well matched musical score and script, and the changes might keep some guessing what next. Alas this version of Spiderman has too many changes for me to call it amazing!

Instant classic, in 10 chapters it made more than Sony did in 8 years.

It's amazing to see how a series that nobody asked for and that had so little expectation becomes an instant classic.

Marvel, luckily, has been getting us used to having animated productions of the highest quality in recent years. Perhaps the exception to this concept is seasons 2 and 3 of "What if" but that's another topic. Live Action should learn from this.

This series did more in 10 chapters for the lore of Spiderman than Sony did in 8 years, obviously not much was needed, but the concept is understood. It gave us from the beginning a Spiderman that we should have seen already in the MCU and not after "No Way Home".

It has many successes, great villains, character development and much more. Possibly, its biggest weakness is the animation, in any case we know that a good script makes us forget that (right Invincible?).

You can see the love and knowledge that was put into the plot. We have just the right and necessary cameos. Excellent development of secondary characters and possibly we have rarely seen evolutions like that of Lonnie or Norman Osborne himself.

The ending, with the paradox of predestiny or canonical event within this universe, far from being simple seems to me a fair and necessary resolution.

Multiple doors are left open for plots in future seasons. We could even be lucky enough to see the Sinister Six after so long!

Otherwise, a must-see for Marvel and Spiderman fans, hopefully it becomes another mainstay (along with X-men 97 for example) for better stories and more material from this universe.

skews too young for me

I like a lot of series aimed at people much younger than me, but this is not one of those series. It has an afterschool special quality about it - well meaning but unsophisticated.

The animation is atypical so it gets points for that, but I can't say I love it. I watched a couple of episodes and the whole thing is surprisingly meh, a Spider-Man series that is less witty and less exciting than any I have seen, and I've seen quite a few.

And yes, now we're at that place where I've said everything I have to say, because there's really not much to say, and I have to come up with another paragraph to meet the minimum, which I've now met.

A great addition to the Spider verse

This show is a representation of how people struggle in the real world and Spider-Man is suppose to be a hero that gets back next matter what and he gives us hope for what we can't do and this show even shows How people today are be disrespected like in the real world and I love the animation style that looks like it is in a actual comic while taking elements like the Punching and Kicking also I love how Doc Connors is a Woman also Harry and Norman are great Characters and I can't wait to see other villains like Doc Ock, Scorpion, Venom and I hope Green Goblin in it because you can't have Spider-Man without Green Goblin but I love the Diversity of the characters and I love mix between a new story and a familiar one to understand that "with great power comes great Responsibility" and can't wait for the whole show.

Holy moly !!

I don't know why this low rating?? I know there are many changes about what we already knew in spiderman story and characters...but it's not bad at all, we need some of new things to get excited about , and not to get always the same thing over and over until it gets boring... right ???? Aaaaand at least watch it then rate it , don't destroy this amazing animation that we actually needs it !! The story is so cool and fresh , the voices are awesome..., anyway I'm so excited about season 2,I can't wait !!! , let them cook please !!!

The animations looks like telltale games series but it's not that bad.

A great "Saturday Morning" cartoon...but nothing beyond that

I'm not entirely sure who this show is for. While it can be simplified down to a "fun" new Spider-Man animated show, it unfortunately can't really be described as anything more than that. The show has the feel of a Saturday morning cartoon, which is totally fine, but it feels empty if you look for anything beyond that. The show's animation, and story (at least so far) pale in comparison to other new animated properties such as X-Men 97', and the beloved Spider-Verse movies. Speaking of X-Men 97' and the Spider-Verse films, those properties feel like they have something to say, or that they want to bring something new to the world of animation, superhero's, comics, etc. In comparison, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man feels bland and lacking of anything that makes it its own. In the first two episodes, the show retreads Spider-man's origin story, and has a fun mirroring of Captain America Civil War, but again...there's nothing new here. All in all, it has the perfect Saturday morning cartoon vibe, but don't look for anything beyond that. 6/10.

Surprisingly Amazing

I was a bit skeptical about the show when it first aired its first season but after watching this show marvel cooked. This show is actually a top 3 Spider-Man animated series. The story of classic Peter Parker is amazing and they never gave us his bland and already seen origin story, they gave us a better origin story that somewhere outside the multiverse. The side characters also helped and carried the show in different ways that sets up a lot for future seasons not to talk of the ending scene with Peter dad being alive. Wow well done marvel this show is truly incredible. Looking forward to more great seasons.

A Victim of Non-Creativity and Ticking Marvel Universe Boxes

I think where this series goes wrong is it is beholden to fit inside of the Marvel Universe brackets while making slight variations to set it in another "universe". As a storytelling device, this whole "alternate universe" plot essentially gives you a blank check to do whatever you want plot wise - especially with animation. A good example of this are the animated Spiderverse movies. Yet, this series essentially just makes a few "tweaks" to the Tom Holland universe storyline and repackages it as a new story. They change the race of a few characters, replace a few characters, but the overall imprint of the MCU still exists. It's like the show exists in limbo between the MCU Spider-Man story and an original, creative story. The animation is okay and not very original, the characters are one-dimensional and boring, and there isn't really too much to keep the audience engaged. It seems like this should have been fleshed out a bit more before being released.

Marvel Reimagined

I'm thoroughly disappointed with the latest adaptation. The animation is subpar and the unnecessary race swaps are jarring. It' the worst animated show I've ever seen. I'm baffled by studios' insistence on reimagining beloved characters in ways that feel disconnected from the originals. The changes feel gratuitous and lacking in creative merit.

The character designs are also oddly proportioned.

It's a shame, really, because the 1994 animated series were truly exceptional. They set a high bar for storytelling, character development, and faithful adaptation. This latest effort would do well to take a page from that show.

Fantastic Return To Form For The Spider-Man Universe

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a compelling new series on the early life of Peter Parker. It is created in a classic comic book animation style, making it something old that new fans can enjoy. The music is perfectly in sync with the story at every crazy twist and turn in this fantastic return to form for the Spider-Man Universe.

This ten episode series follows Peter Parker as "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" cruising the streets and teaching the villains that he encounters what happens when you mess with his hometown of New York City. However, when teaching these lessons, he gets caught up in some shady business that leads him to come into contact with his first big villain. The show has a legendary finale you don't want to miss!

The show's music, by Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson, is enough on its own to make it a must watch. When you add the great storyline and characters, such as Harry Osborn (Colman Domingo), The Scorpions, and the mysterious inventor (Hugh Dancy), to the mix you get something timeless. The actor who voices Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) is terrific at taking this well-loved character and making it his own. The show incorporates characters from the early comic series in new and interesting ways - which kept me, an avid fan, on my toes. Spider-Man without comedy is unheard of, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is no different. It has great comedic timing and one liners that make it an instant classic.

The main message of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is to always be yourself and push yourself to do your best. The series shows the importance of friendship, standing up for yourself, and working hard. Parents should note that this show has minimal gore and includes infrequent, but noticeable, cursing.

I give Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it for ages 8 to 18, plus adults. The series debuts with its first two episodes on Disney+ on January 29, 2025, with the remaining eight episodes being released weekly in groups of two or three until February 19, 2025. Finally (?)

"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" stands out with its blend of classic comic book aesthetics and modern animation techniques. Unlike many short-form superhero animations aimed at younger audiences, this series avoids simplistic storytelling and childish dialogue. Instead, it delivers well-developed characters, engaging narratives, and visually striking action sequences. By emphasizing Spider-Man's friendly neighborhood persona, it appeals to both younger and older audiences. With its stylized animation and mature storytelling, the show offers an enjoyable experience not just for "iPad kids" but for Marvel fans of all ages. I hope they dont mess this up.

Spider-Man as he should have been

An honestly pretty good show that fixes what the MCU Spider-Man needed to fix. The animation is a little weird but the story is right out of a comic book and the characters are a nice re-flavor of the Spider-Man story we all know and love. I also like how it's a pseudo "What If?" story about MCU's Spider-Man and introduces and incorporates classic Spider-Man mythos with elements of Tom Holland's Spider-Man story. I was also intrigued by the Marvel characters they introduced, and am eager to see how they play into season 2. The Osbornes, Amadeus Cho, Finesse, The Wizard, The Lizard, and Doc Ock are all characters I hope to see more of in Season 2.
