The shows vying for the Drama Series prize are Australia’s The Newsreader, Argentina’s Yosi, the Regretful Spy, France’s Drops of God and India’s The Night Manager. Three of those countries also are in the running for the Comedy Series prize as Australia’s Deadloch, Argentina’s División Palermo, France’s Hpi — whose American remake High Potential premiered on ABC this week — battle South Korea’s Daily Dose of Sunshine.

Argentina also is in the running for the Arts Programming award with Virgilio, alongside Poland’s Piano Forte, the UK’s Robbie Williams and Japan’s Who I Am Life. Winners will pick up their hardware November 25 at the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City.

Fifth Season, the production company behind “Severance” and “80 for Brady,” has been hit with another round of layoffs due to the historic Hollywood double strike.

The cost-cutting measures impacted 30 executive and administrative roles, totaling 12% of the company. Thursday’s layoffs follow a previous round of cuts in April that decreased 2% of its staff, including eight executives.

“Today we made the difficult decision to reduce Fifth Season’s headcount due to the impact on our business operations as a result of the ongoing dispute between the AMPTP and WGA & SAG-AFTRA,” a spokesperson for Fifth Season said in a statement. “This resulted in the loss of 30 positions across executive and administrative roles, approximately 12% of our workforce. Our team is extraordinary and the reduction of staff by even one individual, let alone many, is heartbreaking”

Fifth Season, the company formerly known as Endeavor Content, is cutting around 12% of its workforce as a result of the impact of the dual Hollywood strikes.

The company, which is behind series such as Severance and Normal People, is axing 30 positions, across both executive and administrative roles.

It is the second time this year that the business, which is now majority owned by Korean studio Cj Enm, which paid $785M for an 80% stake, has had to make cuts following layoffs in April.

The company is run by Graham Taylor and Chris Rice, who are Co-CEOs. Joe Hipps runs the TV side of the business as EVP, TV Development and Production and Alexis Garcia runs the film group.

On the TV side, it is also behind See, Killing Eve, The Night Manager, Tokyo Vice, and upcoming projects such as Alma Har’el’s Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman for Apple.

The play’s success is a remarkable achievement. Transferring the drama from the Almeida Theatre in Islington to the Noel Coward Theatre was a risky proposition to start with and it was always a gamble.

All those involved were nervous, including Morgan, I understand.

The production team wondered whether audiences would be drawn to a story about Russian oligarchs and the rise to power of Vladimir Putin. But, as producer Sonia Friedman says, the play is both “incredibly timely and relevant,” although she notes that Morgan “wrote the bulk prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

Hulu’s released the first batch of photos from Culprits, an upcoming thriller set to stream this fall. The first-look photos tease what Hulu describes as a darkly funny crime series without giving much away.

Culprits stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Generation), Gemma Arterton (The King’s Man), Kirby (The Good Place), Niamh Algar (Raised by Wolves), and Kamel El Basha (The Insult). Tara Abboud, Kevin Vidal (Working Moms), Ned Dennehy (The Peripheral), and Eddie Izzard (Victoria and Abdul) also star.

The eight-episode season was created by J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed), who also serves as an executive producer and director. Disney+ Emea’s Johanna Devereaux and Stephen Garrett (The Night Manager) executive produce, Claire Oakley (Make Up) directs, and Morenike Williams (Killing Eve) is a producer.

After Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” ignited a stagnant post-pandemic box office in January, hits have been sporadic. While there were sparks across India’s various language-specific film industries, including the Hindi-language “The Kerala Story,” “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” and “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” the Telugu-language “Waltair Veerayya” and “Veera Simha Reddy,” the Malayalam-language “2018” and “Romancham” and the Tamil-language “Ponniyin Selvan: II,” the overall box office remained sluggish for the first five months of 2023.

The Indian box office caught fire in the June-July period with hits including the Hindi-language “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” Marathi-language “Baipan Bhaari Deva,” Punjabi-language “Carry On Jatta 3,” Telugu-language “Bro” and “Baby” and Tamil-language “Maaveeran” keeping the turnstiles ticking over.

Updated: Following the full buy-out of Endemol Shine India from CA Media, Banijay has combined Endemol Shine India and Banijay Asia under the leadership of Deepak Dhar, who has been appointed the founder and group CEO of the merged entity.

Having led Endemol’s Indian operations between 2005 and 2018, before launching Banijay Asia and overseeing its strategic growth, Dhar will now continue his focus on leading the wider group’s content strategies, partnerships, new business, and alliances, in addition to building both companies’ reputations in generating new IP which can travel the world.

Dhar will now “finesse the structure of Banijay in Asia, setting group-wide roles, as well as dedicated creative positions within the respective production labels,” the company said. Key personnel-related news is expected in the coming weeks.

Banijay has taken full control of Endemol Shine India.

The move sees the Big Brother and MasterChef indie giant buying out CA Media’s 49% shareholding in Endemol Shine India for an undisclosed amount.

Banijay Asia CEO Deepak Dhar takes on the same role at Endemol Shine India, with the fate of former Chief Exec Rishi Negi not immediately clear at press time. Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India will effectively become much closer and sit alongside each other under Dhar’s purview.

Dhar previously led Endemol’s Indian business between 2005 and 2018, before becoming the founder of Banijay Asia as a joint venture with Banijay. He now oversees the wider group’s content strategies, partnerships, new business and alliances. CA Media had owned 49% of Endemol Shine India since 2012.

According to Banijay, Dhar will “finesse the structure” of Banijay in Asia in coming weeks and create new group-wide roles and dedicated creative positions at the two labels.

The Night Manager (Disney+ Hotstar)

Sometimes the biggest of strategists can go wrong. The minds that decided to split writer-director Sandeep Modi’ s The Night Manger into two (messily amputated ) halves , have done the series a huge disservice.

Part 2, as it were, is a vegan’s delight. All the meat was in Part 1, and even the principal performances were more accentuated by the predominant emotions in the first-half. The second-half is all about nemesis. And not of the subtle variety.

There are no new revelations for us to chew on. We know Aditya Roy Kapoor’s Shaan Sengupta has infiltrated the antagonist arms dealer Shelly Rungta’s organization.

We saw in Part 1 that Shaan won the ruthless Rungta’s trust by staging his son’s kidnapping and rescue. Miraculously the little boy disappears in the second half.Maybe he got kidnapped again,this time for real, and we don’t know about it.

The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan is adapting Stephen King’s short story The Life of Chuck, with Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill attached to lead the movie.

Per Deadline, Hiddleston will portray the titular role of Charles Krantz, whose life story will be told in three separate parts. Meanwhile, Hamill has been enlisted to play a character named Albie, which serves as his latest venture into horror after starring in the 1995 adaptation of Village of the Damned and 2012’s independent British film Airborne. The Star Wars vet also had an uncredited cameo appearance in 1992’s Sleepwalkers, which was King’s first time writing a screenplay not adapted from one of his existing novels.

Based on the critically acclaimed 2014 Anthony Doerr novel of the same name, Netflix's All the Light We Cannot See has a high bar to clear, but its excellent cast appears to be up to the challenge. The miniseries centers on two teenage characters whose lives intersect in the throes of World War II — Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl, and Warner Pfennig, a German boy forced to fight for the Nazis. The All the Light We Cannot See novel won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and the miniseries will release on Netflix on November 2, 2023.

Netflix released the first teaser trailer for All the Light We Cannot See on April 18, 2023. Though no dialogue is spoken, it's clear that this is an emotional, character-driven miniseries. Exclusive: In February, we told you a second season of The Night Manager is finally under way for the BBC and Amazon, and we can now confirm Disney+ Hotstar is readying the next part of the Indian remake.

The Night Manager: Part 2 will launch on June 30 on the Disney streamer in India, with stars Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur returning as lead characters Shaan Sengupta and Shelly Rungta, respectively. Based on the John le Carré novel, the first season of the show launched this year, seven years after the original UK-u.S. series for the BBC and AMC launched.

The first season has in effect been split into two parts, meaning this is not a second season.

“It’s overwhelming to see the response for the first part and I am grateful for the love received by everyone,” said creator and director Sandeep Modi. “The Night Manager: Part 2 is twice the action and thrill.

Exclusive: The BBC’s controversial Narendra Modi documentary may have been banned in India but local viewers are still finding ways to watch it, according to analysts.

Global analysis firm Parrot Analytics ranked India: The Modi Question amongst its top 10 ‘global breakout shows’ outside the U.S. for the first week in March, the most recent week for which it has data.

The consumption data tracks viewing across YouTube, social media and includes piracy, which Parrot Communications Manager Wade Payson-Denney said is “particularly relevant in this case as the content was banned in India.”

“The significant global demand suggests that Indian consumers worked around the ban,” he told Deadline.

Parrot’s metric gave The Modi Question a market multiplier score of 14.7, meaning that, for the week to March 3, the show had 14.7 times more demand than the average show worldwide across all platforms. This metric places it in amongst big budget...

Mumbai, April 9 (Ians) Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur, who believes in following a strict diet regime and healthy lifestyle, shared how he used to gorge on a half kg ice cream tub in one go without any hesitation on his cheat day.

He said: “Most of the time, I follow a diet so when it comes to enjoying food, one should make use of the cheat meal. There is no use enjoying one or two scoops of ice cream. And ice cream is literally like air.”

Aditya, who started his acting career in 2009 with the movie ‘London Dreams’, rose to fame with ‘Aashiqui 2’ in 2013 and also acted in the romantic comedy ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ followed by ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’, ‘Fitoor’, ‘Ok Jaanu’, and ‘Kalank’, ‘Ludo’ and was also seen in the web series ‘The Night Manager’.

Tom Hiddleston met his Night Manager counterpart Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time last night.

Hiddleston, who played Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager for the BBC and AMC in 2016, jumped on a video call with Kapur while attending a lively screening of Disney+ Hotstar’s The Night Manager India in London.

We’ve obtained exclusive images from the screening.

Also in attendance was Night Manager India director Priyanka Ghose and series creator/director Sandeep Modi, who set up the call when Hiddleston unexpectedly arrived with David Farr, the writer of the original BBC and AMC series.

“We went to the London screening with zero hopes of seeing Tom but to all of our surprise he walked in along with David Farr,” Modi told Deadline.

Hollywood star Tom Hiddleston rang up Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur after watching his performance in the Hindi adaptation of the series ‘The Night Manager’.

Aditya took to Instagram to share his excitement on receiving a video call from Tom called.

“The Og Night Manager watched our show yesterday! He had some kind words to say. Bas aur kya,” he captioned the image.

The picture shows a shot of Tom’s face as Aditya took a screenshot of their chat.

The Disney+ Hotstar show is an official adaptation of the English series, which starred Tom in the lead.

Mumbai, March 12 (Ians) After working in ‘Main Monica’, ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Shehzada’, and ‘Selfiee’, actor Akashdeep Sabir has now been roped in to play a negative role in Sonu Sood’s upcoming film ‘Fateh’.

Speaking about joining the cast of ‘Fateh’, he said: “I am delighted to join team ‘Fateh’ and to work alongside my dear friend Sonu Sood. It’s a negative role and I’m looking forward to doing an evil job to the best of my abilities. This will be a change after a few roles where I had to play a humorous character. Looking forward to this one in particular.”

He added: “My second innings as an actor has been very good and I’m getting diverse roles and some very big co-actors and directors to work along with, something I really missed in my first innings. I hope the viewers too like what I’m doing.

Mumbai, March 1 (Ians) Actress Tillotama Shome, who plays the character of Lipika in the recently released streaming show ‘The Night Manager’, has said that in real life, she is a very calm person who could do away with the adrenaline rush unlike her character, though she has a few things in common with Lipika.

Talking about the same, the actress said: “I am definitely less messy than Lipika. I will not put myself in a dangerous situation. I am quite okay to live without the adrenaline rush of the brave and the strong.”

However, there are two things that she shares with her character as she further mentioned: “I would like to think that I share Lipika’s sense of responsibility and middle class reality.”

Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone co-star has addressed rumours that the actor is leaving the series.

Fans of the Western drama were recently shocked by the claims that Costner would step away from his role as the head of the Dutton family.

The reports stated that Costner’s alleged decision had prompted creator, Sicario and Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan, to bring the show to an end. A spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey is said to be in the works.
