Uncle's Visit

Donald Haines and toddler brother Jackie Combs are packed off to boarding school when word comes that child-hating great-uncle Theodore Roberts (in his last screen role) is visiting from Australia. But the boys run away, and Roberts picks them up not knowing who they are.

Only about eight minutes of this two-reel comedy survive, and those minutes aren't in good shape. It's based on Walter Berndt's long-running comic strip, SMITTY, by attribution anyway. It looks like Amadee van Beuren's attempt to break into OUR GANG shorts, but under the direction of George Marshall, doesn't seem to be much of anything. Keep an eye open for a brief appearance by Billy Barty.
