All the actors did pretty well. They seemed like child actors but looking at their bios, some of them are older than they look. So that shows the make up and casting was done right. The narrative and story is good, it follows the path of 'trying hard to fit-in with the crowd' well and how attitudes of teenagers change when their dynamics with people around them evolve, has been shown well. The flashbacks of the mother are sort of a mystery. Music mixing is nice. Role of father is also nice. In a way a one time watch for sure. Not a disappointment if one like teenage friendship dramas, like boyhood etc.

Kudos to Trevor Anderson, Fish Griwkowsky, Vaughan Murrae, et al., as Before I Change My Mind was likely the most original teen comedy I have watched in a decade or more. I watched the film more than once and suggested that others view it. I really loved each lead character and each had some emotional depth that I did not expect in a light comedy.

I was an 80s teen who was briefly obsessed with Jesus Christ Superstar, which made this film resonate all the more. The synthpop soundtrack was perfect, and the locations chosen were superb! Pastels and neon were all the rage, as were malls.
