Apart from the angry folks from the countries that the movie depicts, that gave 1/10 to this movie, it's a nice movie overall.

It's not a masterpiece and it's actually right on the path of the movies that De Niro has been doing for the past few years. Despite it not being great, I really liked it for what it is. It's supposed to be a thriller with two war veterans and it's just that. It's nothing ingenious but it's a totally decent movie that would be a 6.5 in my book.

Travolta was good, De Niro is always great cause I adore him as an actor! The action was as much as I wanted, the scenes of the fighting were really realistic and kept me at the edge of my seat. Even this back and forth thing that one was freed and the other was freed and so on and so forth, was nicely done and was not tiring.

It's a nice rental for a relaxed week night, with some pop corn or a pizza, if you can handle eating with bloody scenes!

Just a short comment for all the people complaining about the history facts.

There wasn't a Serbian Army? true that.. but there where: Arkanovi Tigrovi (Srpska dobrovoljacka garda), Knindze, Crvene beretke, Skorpioni, Seseljevi dobrovoljci, Dusan silni, Beli orlovi (Seseljevci, Osvetnici, Cetnici), Srpski sokolovi, Siltovi and many many more.. and they where not Japanese or chineese or Canadian people. It is to hard to understand to foreign ppl and learn all of them.. so they can say just "serbian army", even officially it wasn't their name.

Please look at the big picture and do not stick to these 2 words.

Travolta's Serbian slang is not perfect but he is acting good. I am sure Serbian actors don't speak perfect English to.

If is a movie. Not the greatest one but still a movie and no one said it is based on a true story.

This movie has a decent premise but not the best execution. War veterans with unfinished business fighting out a final battle in the woods long after their war is over. But unfortunately, the film plays itself out with these two guys going back and forth at each other after the first couple of exchanges. I'd say it goes off the rails towards the end of the second act and it just gets hard to believe their fight could be drawing out this long as they keep turning the tables on each other.

The climax ties the ridiculous action together a little bit with a sort of drawn out explanation of how they keep fighting with each other because they like it in their own way. It hints at the idea that there could have been a good movie in there as it wraps everything you just watched and couldn't really believe in a little fancy bow.

Unfortunately the plot, which funny enough is quite simple and straight forward, is just too absurd to believe.

The interesting moments saved this from being a terrible movie. But the action, the plot and the characters held it back from being a particularly good one. DeNiro and Travolta give passing grade mail in performances that work well enough for the story they were tasked with. But the dialogue was a little subpar.

Better options out there, but if you're bored on a Saturday night, it's not the worst thing you could watch.

I think the problem with this film is the actors are always placed on a extremely high pedestal and any slip up or under par performance and they are shot to bits. I definitely agree with people when they say this film wasn't a 10 star blockbuster but also disagree with the ratings of 3 or below. I believe De Niro and Travolta performed as well as they could with the script that was provided.

Nicolas Cage was to be Benjamin Ford originally but was replaced by De Niro, I think i would have expected Cage to lower the standard of this movie a lot if he actually was cast in the end.

One of the main criticisms of the film was Travoltas accent. I mean it could have been a lot worse but it still was noticeable. I think casting a actor with a genuine accent would have been the smartest bet. After all De Niro would have been all it took for me to watch this without Travolta in it at all.

I'm not familiar with the war at all so can't comment on any of the accuracy of it or any faults they have with it.

The main part of the movie with the cat and mouse chase through the woodland around Benjamin Fords home was very suspenseful not know what the outcome of there very own war of revenge. The couple of torture scenes may be hard to watch by some people as they are quite graphic. Apart from the accent issue i enjoyed the movie. The story was there and the actors defiantly were. Maybe the script could have done with slight tweaking but if you can overlook that then you will enjoy it. 5.5/10

For starters, the movie gets absolutely everything wrong about events of the Bosnian war, but since such ignorance is expected from Hollywood, there is no reason to hold it against this particular title.

The premise of the movie is good, the basic story is decent, but the script could have been better written, the two main characters' stories never get satisfyingly developed. If this was directed by John McTiernan as originally planned, this would have been a great movie. Sadly, instead we got the guy who did Daredevil and he once again delivered a bland, uninspiring product. Acting is OK, Travolta did his best to hold a consistent accent (it was the wrong accent, but hey!) throughout the movie, while DeNiro looked more like he was only concerned with the paycheck.

All in all, the movie is not terrible, I guess it wouldn't kill you to watch it if you have nothing better to do for an hour and a half. The sad part is that this could have been a much, much better movie, perhaps even a classic.
