Not a bad movie, but not providing captions for Portuguese language was really stupid!
I am not a sci-fi addicted, nor an UFO believer, though this story interested me a lot. The plot is about a famous reporter whose son has disappeared in Los Angeles.
He must return to work and his boss sends him to Brazil, specifically, Quixadá, a town in the state of Ceará, in the northeast region. The city is small, but has some beautiful spots, as the rocks and the very nice dam (it is a semi-arid land).
The plot starts and has some good turning points but has some holes, which I will not detail to avoid spoiling.
The acting of Isaiah is good and Murilo Rosa is well in the role of Joao Batista, but they used the same actor to play the father and the son, what I think is a terrible choice. We don't believe the character of his son, because is played by the same Murilo Rosa. In this role he is not convincing.
The special effects are very good and they don't appear until the middle of the movie, which I think an excellent choice.
The soundtrack is sometimes over the needed, but I didn't think it was all too bad. What I really disliked was the edition/montage. Some important takes were given just few seconds while others banal where given much more emphasis.
Other bad choice is the constant voice over, by the main character, which is most of the time too explanatory and could be avoided. It was needed, if so, only in rare occasions.
I liked id because it is different than the usual Brazilian latest movies, only about favela or shallow comedies. And it shows a nice piece of land that, as long as I remember, has never been portrayed before.

It's hard to say why I liked this story so much. The Isaiah Washington's understated but natural performance really stood out for me. Perhaps some elements in editing this story fall short of the Hollywood quick-fix treatment, but they made this the kind of movie that draws you in without throwing everything at you point-blank so you won't miss it.
I am very gratified that the ending was not slick, however, the music cues, I think, were a little cheesy and rather made this too sensational for such a poignant ending. I know the music tried to make the point of that being a climactic ending, somehow, it is probably the only thing that missed the mark for me in this beautiful effort.
I congratulate everyone involved in putting this story out, especially with so much crap being spewed out by filmmakers these days.
I recommend this to any fan of science fiction who appreciates the out of the ordinary development of a story, and an abduction story that might have been produced by Hollywood types that like to give us slick and vapid movies in the guise of entertainment-in-a-bottle.

I could not thoroughly enjoy this movie because of the Portuguese dialog - And No Subtitles! Toward the end of the movie - where the dialog was very important - It was entirely One-Sided. If you are someone that is fluent in Portuguese, well Good For You!
I'm not and I missed out on the ending of the movie. It wasted my time.
This would have been a good movie otherwise.

great story, destroyed by awful production and directing.
The actors are doing a good job, at least some of them. But the director and producer seem to have been making a stupid and annoying soap opera. What is it with that annoying dramatic music throughout the entire film, it is disturbing the whole story, and it is not dramatic, it feels like I am watching a very very bad episode of a soap.
Misplaced music, bad sounding. Most sounds like phone ringing and stuff is like added after they filmed it, and so bad that you actually can hear it is in a studio. not very good produced I must say.
If this story was made in a Hollywood production it would absolutely have been better, the whole concept is great, but with such crappy filmmakers it must have been doomed from the start. This story need some great sci-fi filmmakers, then it would be a box office most likely.
Sorry guys put this is NOT worth watching at all.
