Bad Shabbos

Do yourself a mitzvah and go see "Bad Sabbos"! This movie is pure comedy gold-sharp writing from Daniel Robbins & Zack Weiner, clean humor that actually lands, and joke after joke without a stale moment. The ensemble cast is so in sync they could be a well-rehearsed kugel recipe. Every scene is packed with laughs, clever dialogue, and just the right amount of absurdity to keep everyone entertained from start to finish. If you need a break from the daily schlep and want a feel-good comedy that actually delivers, this is the movie to see! Trust me, you won't regret it-your funny bone will thank you!

This film has a cute premise and some funny moments but lacks tighter editing, directing and dialogue. As a result it's a bit of mess, with a claustrophobic set that exacerbates the tension without heightening it. The family dynamic is mundane where it should be more explosive and at times the plot nearly falls apart because of it. The acting is so-so but I really blame it on the script.

As a minor flaw, the portrayal of sabbath had convenient inconsistencies; if you can't drive or use the phone, why are there lights, music blasting and cooking? I'm not an expert, though I mention it because it seems like the whole weight of it being a big sabbath dinner might have had more impact if the rules were more strictly adhered to.

A great new addition into the cannon of Jewish cinema. A silly and smart slice of hectic life in a Shabbos night.

Well written. The characters and plot really develop as the story it takes hold.

I would recommend this movie for sure. I think one of the redeeming qualities is how Judaism and connection to israel and ancient roots and community and family all intersected in the film in a time where the conversations sadly aren't as mainstream or supported. So refreshing to feel seen in the media like this now.

It feels like you're really good about dinner my friends and family of course with a crazy turn! Unexpected and quite delightful.

Will be remembered fondly.

This film is a must see! A perfect ensemble cast film that flows seamlessly. All of the actors are top notch and compliment each other perfectly. No one steals the show but Method Man has some great scene stealers. Kyra Sedgwick was the perfect ying to David Paymer's Yang. Milana Vayntrub is on her way to stardom after this film. She is so funny.

The directing is perfect. Very much has a Mike Nichols/woody Allen feel. An amazing well written script and screenplay. This is a perfect movie for an audience viewing. The audience at Tribeca laughed out loud non-stop. It is also a great story about family and what it means to be family. Considering all the other movies out there, this has to rank as one of the best comedies to come out in years!

Best family movie ever; very, very funny, and heart warming, about a family that stays together and loves each and protects each other no matter what; all inclusive movie showing all faiths having fun together and supporting each other; strongly recommend from teenagers to grandparents; Well written and beautifully directed by a rising star; Great cast. The movie is about a prank that went terribly wrong, with lots of laugh out loud moments, and fall out of your chair hysterical shockingly humorous situations; Some amazing new and seasoned acting veterans round out an incredible cast with a mensch of a director.
