Natalie Hall who plays Cindy is delightful! But what I truly enjoyed about this film is how the prince sees through the facade and figures out very quickly who the real designer is behind Rebecca Roslyn's designs. Not only does he obtain this information quickly, but he is not easily fooled in to thinking otherwise...and he is incredible supportive of someone who he views as an incredibly talented, hard working, under appreciated designer.
When his group of friends intentionally trick Cindy in to underdressing for an event, the prince goes out of his way to try to make her feel comfortable by also dressing down. This isn't the only way he tries to build her up and make her feel comfortable...at one point in spite not being able to sew, he helps Cindy remake dresses for the ball under an extreme time crunch. He is really beyond too impossible to be true! But that is why we watch Hallmark, isn't it? Therefore Prince Ronan is perfect, as ordered!
I appreciated how the romantic rival, after initially doing something mean spirited, turns a new leaf and champions her rival before the last five minutes of the film where they usually cede there defeat. I also really appreciated the actress who was the grandmother (I think) who was real and honest...and telling like it was from the onset.
"Spontaneous, in the moment, out of character."
As mentioned, Natalie Hall is delightful and you should watch this film.

Most of hallmark's new actresses look alike to me so i was pleased to realize this wasn't the same one who drives me crazy in other movies. While no credit is given to the fairy tale authors of cinderella (whichever ones they might choose to credit) it is apparent early on that this is a cinderella remake when the main character's name is given as cindy cordella. Which becomes a bit distracting when the other characters are introduced and you try to figure out which part from the traditional story they'll fill. This cinderella does have a nice bit of gumption but she keeps burying it. I would've scored it higher but it ended on a bit of a wtf moment when her ball gown was so unflattering and then there was the bizarre dance break.

The whole royal meets commoner and falling in love scenario was already very old and done to death by the time 'Fit for a Prince' was made. It is a scenario that Hallmark over the past seven years or so have recycled quite a lot and very few films that have this concept do anything fresh. Did like the idea though of 'Fit for a Prince' incorporating elements of 'Cinderella', a personal favourite story of mine since childhood. So it was not entirely a doomed from the get go case.
'Fit for a Prince' doesn't do enough with the 'Cinderella' story, everything with the fashion is poorly utilised and nothing new is done with the scenario. Really do have to agree with what has already been said, 'Fit for a Prince' is a very bad film and among the worst of the 2021 Hallmark films. And joint worst of the 2021 Love Ever After films along with 'Beverly Hills Wedding'. Hallmark did do some good films in 2021, with 'A New Year's Resolution' and 'As Luck would Have It' being standouts, but 'Fit for a Prince' is one of the major misfires.
Did think that the scenery was quite nice.
When it comes to the redeeming qualities, that is pretty much it.
Natalie Hall is too saccharine as Cindy and Jonathan Keltz is rather bland and wooden. The two don't generate any chemistry together, and the relationship itself is poorly developed. With it being rushed and like there were parts intended to be there but left on the editing room floor. Which would account for why the editing was as choppy as it was and why the story felt jumpy and incomplete. Nobody in the supporting cast stands out and the characters are neither interesting or easy to like, too one-dimensional and bland.
Other than some of the scenery, 'Fit for a Prince' is pretty cheap looking. Especially the choppy editing and pretty hideous fashions that look more shoestring budget than lavish. A big problem for a film that has fashion playing a big part. The music is too constant and over-scored, not uncommon for Hallmark but this is one of the worst Hallmark films in this regard for this year. The direction is characterless and leaden.
The script is full of cheese, over sweet schmaltz and awkward. The story is thin, incomplete feeling and does absolutely nothing new with a continually recycled formula. Which makes the film feel very fatigued and it is not good fun watching a film knowing throughout how it's all going to map out five minutes before the event happens.
In summary, very bad. 2/10.

This film had so much potential - just needed better writing and better character coherence. The 'ugly sisters' should not suddenly turn into charmers even with a 'fairy godmother' aka grandmother in sight.
I also did not find most of the dressed particularly special which was disappointing.
But forgetting the gripes, this was fun entertainment and better than most. It is the untapped potential that is grating, not the movie itself.

7.4 stars.
A woman designs all the clothing for a very competitive designer. The designer is Raslyn clothing lines and designs etc... Ms. Raslyn has been taking all the credit while Cindy (Hall) does all the designs and hard work. Cindy has three assistants. Reggie is the main worker that we get acquainted with. "Fit for a Prince" is mainly about how Raslyn's company has been hired to design the wardrobe for an upcoming royal ball. Prince Ronan happens upon Cindy while she's working at the shop and is immediately smitten by her beauty and savvy. The rest of the story is about how an American designer is "Fit for a Prince" and whether it's possible for them to be together in the end.
This is the same royal story done in at least a dozen other Hallmark films. There is absolutely nothing original emanating from "Fit for a Prince" other than Melinda Michael. What a lovely creature is she? I hope to see her in more Hallmark immediately, do not put her on standby.
The storyline reminds one of Cinderella in some fashion. First you have Cindy who is similar to Cinderella (hence the name Cindy) in that she is a talented commoner who is kind and benevolent to her underlings. Next is Raslyn herself who is an amalgamation of the evil stepmother and an uncaring boss. Julia (Michael), Gloria and Brooke are like the evil stepsisters. Julia has been chosen by royalty to be the Prince's consort and makes it frigidly clear to Cindy to stay away from him. Cindy's underlings are like the animals that befriend and assist her. Prince Ronan takes on dual parts, one of the Fairy Godmother and the other as none other than the Prince himself. He is her staunchest ally, most gracious admirer, and counselor through it all. He is the one who believes in her, and helps all the rest to see her potential as a worthy, and wonderful person.
"Fit for a Prince" fits the mold too neatly bearing no spontaneity or divergence from the accepted blueprint of royalty romances. Two positive aspects however: there is a thread of entertainment value, and a remnant of chemistry between the leads.

I'm usually not real critical of HM movies. And, because I don't read reviews prior to watching movies, I was not prepared for this debacle. Everything about it was bad, and I'm not going to go over them because all the other reviews hit the low points on the nail head.
I will add one more complaint, and it's getting to be a common occurrence in HM movies. THE MUSIC WAS ENTIRELY TOO LOUD. OMG. First I thought it was our sound-bar, but it wasn't.
I think I've only reviewed one other movie this low.

First, this wasn't a super well written script, I did like how they touched on the Cinderella elements- but the writing didn't hold up to make it all come together. I loved the old grandmother in this and all the characters did just a fine, decent job. I really like Natalie Hall though. I love everything she is in. I just feel like Hallmark doesn't give her the scripts she deserves. I have seen her in Charmed, Unreal, her Netflix film and she is really a good/funny actor. In fact she's a standout among so many other actors in these shows and has electric energy on camrea. I really Hope Hallmark gives her a really good script one day as she seems to have chemistry with anyone she is oppsite and can play any role. Keltz was good too. I felt like he was strong with with Hall and I believed him as a prince. The writing lacked but Keltz and Hall kept my interest.

Did anybody else see this or was it just us?
Not really plausible in 2022, maybe somewhat believable years ago.
Otherwise, typical royal/commoner Hallmark fare😃

Ok, Hallmark movies are delightfully campy and predictable so let's put all of that aside. And these other reviews do a great job pointing out plot holes and seamstress flaws. But I stayed until the end to see what amazing dresses would come out at the reveal. Ya'll. It's Sears 2001 prom catalog. They're beyond plain, boring and not suited to the actresses. If you're staying for the dresses go ahead and flip the channel.

Loved the storyline - while it is a typical "prince & commoner" type story it is different with the dressmaker theme. Totally enjoyable if one sits back and relaxes ! Personally I like Hallmark for that reason - I call their movies my "bedtime stories " after a stressful day in the real world !

I love the guy who plays the prince. The other actors were good, too. But even by Hallmark standards, the writing was horrid. Also felt like the write just gave up half way through and said, "Gotta end this thing now. Let's wrap it up."

I'm not a fan of royal romance movies although I find some OK where the lead woman is a princess and the man is the commoner. I find it interesting that 2 years ago Natalie Hall did a Hallmark movie where she was the princess and now she is the commoner.
I hated this from the start. The writers went out of their way to draw Cinderella parallels even to the point of calling her Cindy Cordella (not exactly sure of spelling on last name). There were other obvious references also. So you have a pretty good idea how the story is going to go and being Hallmark, you know that every detail will work out for HEA.
I have to admit, there were a few good one on one moments and a couple of minor surprises. I liked what they did with the t-shirts. And Brooke's parting line to the Prince was clever. But I spent more moments cringing than liking.
Other reviewers have rightly noted the idiocy of putting your rack of expensive dresses practically on top of the chocolate fountain and of eating pizza practically at the same time and workspace as sewing the dresses. And this is another movie where the lead with no knowledge or experience in the super-skill task can actually help do in one night what it took 3 skilled people do in 2 weeks.

I really love Natalie Hall she is way better then most. I have seen her in a few films now and she is also becoming a favorite. To me she made this film work. It was cheesy but she made the world and script come together. She brings a different energy then most actors I see on hallmark plus she is funny, not irritating and comes across genuine. She also has such ease and beauty when I watch as a viewer like an old hollywood movie star. Her voice isn't annoying like most actress on Hallmark. It only kept my attention because I like her so much.

Fit for a Prince was annoying right from the very beginning. I didn't feel much chemistry for Cindy and Ronan and felt their "romance" was moving to quickly. Plus I simply didn't like much of the other characters aside from Cindy friend, Reggie who seems to be the only one with common sense. Overall, I would not recommend this film to anyone and it was basically a cringe fest.
