Apparently the bigots are out for blood and give this show bad reviews for a few kissing scenes between two 13-year olds. Honestly some people
Need to chill out! This was an excellent series, stellar acting and such a fascinating plot! Give it a chance and you'll like it or even love it! I didn't have many expectations when I started watching and now I'm so upset it's already over. I do hope the show gets renewed as the finale leaves a lot of room for a new storyline. Do yourself a favor, ignore all the nasty reviews and watch this series as you won't be disappointed, even gave me the chills.!
I watched it once and gave it 7 stars. I watched it a second time and I feel I have to give it a 9. I don't give it a 10 because it's not a great production and the editing and acting could have been better.
The Chosen One is an amazing, original story. Hundreds of movies and tv shows have been made about this topic, but this one is completely out of the ordinary. It's definitely a memorable story. The story starts with very little tension, and that increases steadily until the last few minutes of the last episode!
The use of music is very clever, as it reflects the feeling of the characters at the time and not the reality behind what's really happening, so nothing is too obvious; not to Jodie and definitely not to the audience. So you don't need to blame yourself if you couldn't connect the dots, although you had all the clues! This makes this series extra memorable.
The kids' performance is brilliant, to the point that they made me cry laugh and cry with them. Juanito Anguamea (Tuka) and Alberto Pérez-Jácome (Wagner), in special, were amazing. The adults, on the other hand, felt a little flat. I think that of Dianna Agron, in particular, because she was playing a key character (Jodie's mom Sarah), which really needed to be on point. I would also blame her for Bobby Luhnow (Jodie)'s poor performance in some scenes playing opposite to her.
This series deeply touched me and the story will be in my memory forever. I learned that this is only 1 part of a 3 part story originally published as comics. I hope they do a 2nd and 3rd season to tell the rest of the story.

A series that from the first second keeps you attentive And it manages to cause in you the anxiety of wanting to know what is happening, it manages to maintain a constant rhythm and a dialogue that does not bore you at all. From the first chapter you can see the wonderful and paranormal world that awaits you, a world without being created by cgi Making us empathize with the people of the town and satisfy the curiosity of what would happen if something like this happened in real life and the social impact that this would have on the people, in this case the people of the small town. Without a doubt a series that is worth watching!!
Millar's original core idea remains (it's one of my favorite books of his) but execution is all over the place.
Some performances are very weak, but it's understandable given how weird dialog and pacing are. Some dialog feels very unnatural and forced. Like the writer is trying to make a point as fast as possible instead of making characters get to the point by talking to each other like actual human beings. It feels rushed, desperate to get to a point not minding HOW it gets there.
Even though is poorly written, premise is captivating enough to get you attention, but that's all Millar, not the show-runners. Some characters are very likable (Tuka, Wagner), but other are very cartoon-y (pretty much every antagonist)
Cinematography is great.

I'm not sure why the review score is so low but this tv series was amazing. I went in with zero expectations and came out wanting a season 2. I have never written a review but this definitely deserves one in hopes more people discover this gem on Netflix.
I gave it a 9/10 only because I wished it was a bit longer( which is a good thing). The ending sets up for a possible second season and the story definitely would be amazing as it was in season one. The characters are likeable and don't make any stupid decisions. There is no modern day politics or agendas just a great story with a great cast.
