Clearly not a 10! I have no idea how anyone could honestly rate it that high. It was nice and clean but the acting was daily soap opera or below. Overall plot was OK but much of the " comedy" was forced. I am not sure why Barry Corbin was there, I am a fan but the grumpy grandpa role was forced to say the least. The eventual outcome was not hard to predict as the current boyfriend was clearly a over acted phoney not suited to the female lead. So the interest is just how the impending train wreck will unfold. The acting got better and more natural as the movie progressed. Not a bad way to pass a little time on a rainy afternoon.

With Thanksgiving being my favorite holiday and since it wasn't a vulgar movie, I've inflated my score. Plus it's a treat to see Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite.
The actual story was a cookie cutter Lifetime-style romcom where a woman represses feelings towards her ex and has to endure her current beau, who is a complete piece of work. All the while she is tackling with a decision on whether to sell her company and has pressure from her family to get back with her ex.
The three main characters (the esquire, Samantha, and the comedian) were bland as white bread. No discernible chemistry between them and it wasn't interesting to watch them. The first half of the movie felt too satirical and overdone.
The remaining cast provided some comic relief. Once the grandpa, father, and Heder's characters had their chance to do some one liners, things picked up a bit. The romantic parts of the movie are commonplace and forgettable, but otherwise the running gags (such as the grandpa's penchant for sweets, the dad deep frying a turkey, and Charlie's nerdy personality) made it a bearable film.

So the movie is a waste of time. I find nothing particularly interesting about the plot or the characters. However, I want to know who designed these sets and costumes. I have never seen uglier clothing and furniture in my life. The giant ugly cheetah print chair, which just so happens to be sitting right in front of the sofa, in the center of the room. The women's clothing is painfully hideous. I was so distracted by the ugly shoes and outrageous color and pattern choices, that I really wasn't paying attention to the story. It felt so cold and unnatural watching them in the settings they were in, looking the way they looked. They didn't even appear friendly with one another. It just feel like strangers having an awkward weekend together.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. No idea where all these 10-star reviews are coming from. This is barely a movie yet somehow still manages to commit severe crimes against cinema.
A lot of these 10-star reviews are praising this film for being "clean". "Oh, it's so nice to have something clean to just put on in the background". Are you ok my friend? There are infinitely better things to put on for the whole family to watch. I feel sorry for anyone who's aunt or mother throws this on for the kids to watch while the Turkey is cooking. I am convinced that these 10-star reviews are either bots or humans that have never seen another movie.
This "movie" makes me want to skip Thanksgiving indefinitely.

Maybe it gets better, but I turned it off 15 minutes in because the acting was SOOO bad. I love a good, clean, family-friendly movie, but can't watch movies that feel so unnaturally fake due to poor acting.

This is a truly awful film that I cannot believe was ever made. The stand out worst aspect of this was the guy playing Luke. Awful acting, douchey guy. Unwatchable, but we managed to get through most to laugh at this truly terrible mess.
I usually like Heder's work, he's a great actor and can bring life to most roles. And to be fair, he wasn't the issue with this film... but he was surrounded by people who shouldn't even be doing community theater. He couldn't save this with the people he was surrounded with. The writing was problematic as well, but it's possible better supporting actors could have saved it. Probably not.
In closing, I don't know who elected to make this film but they should be fired.

I don't have the energy for this. The movie sucked...I mean it really sucked. The writer of this movie must be very delusional. If I had to choose between changing soiled adult diapers all day or watch 10 minutes more of this movie, I'd bury my hands in Huggies!

This is a clean, enjoyable movie. The plot is predictable but there are not many movies out there today that are not predictable. The acting sometimes seems stiff but other times it seems fine. Jon Heder and Barry Corbin make this movie work. It didn't seem specifically like a "Christian" movie but the dad's prayer over Thanksgiving dinner impressed me.
It is telling me my review is too short so let's see what I can come up with. This has all the qualities of a Hallmark movie but I found it on Hulu live so I know it isn't Hallmark. It is good to see others making clean movies.
This is worth a watch.

There's no way someone watched this and went "yeah that's fine"
Bad acting, worse script, even worse sound design. The whole story is just about a lady cheating on her boyfriend with her ex. Woohoo.

Very enjoyable. Funny quirky characters. Typical plot for a holiday movie: 2 guys, 1 girl, yada yada, but what made this movie fun is the comedy and the characters. Great clean movie for the whole family. Need more movies like this. The story is about Samantha, a successful fashion entrepreneur, who brings her boyfriend Bryce to meet her family for Thanksgiving, only to find her ex-boyfriend, Luke, also in attendance. The family includes her grandfather, her parents, her brother Charlie, who is married to Annie and has 3 kids. Annie also happens to be the sister of Samantha's ex-boyfriend, Luke. Barry Corbin is the cranky, dessert-stealing grandfather and is very entertaining. Jon Heder is all grown up and plays Charley, married to Annie and brother to Samantha, and is quite funny as an involved and supportive, but goofy at times, father, husband and brother. Kevan Moezzi plays Luke, a stand up comic (not much of a stretch since he is one in real life) and the ex-boyfriend of Samantha, and he is very hilarious. Jason Gray plays Bryce (aka "Esquire"), Samantha's quirky and high-strung boyfriend. He's one of those guys who's funny without meaning to be, you know, everyone is laughing at him not with him cuz he's so weird. His acting was great and he was lots of fun to watch. Pat Finn, who plays Samantha's dad, was also kind of a scene stealer; very funny guy. Alaina Beauloye plays Samantha's mom and is lovely, but also is trying to keep her crazy father in line and away from the desserts. Brooke White plays Jon Heder's wife, Annie, and she is very animated and excitable as she pushes Samantha towards reuniting with her brother, Luke. Summer Bellesa plays Samantha, the lead role, but she is probably the least colorful character. Fun movie for all!

I adore both of these folks and they are two Instagram accounts I ALWAYS check out it's how I found this. I have all Brookes albums she's amazing - bringing awesome 70s singer /songwriter vibes today. I wish she'd be in more films as I also loved Banner 4th of July. And Jon I've adored since Napoleon I I'd Dynamite and Blades of Glory. He was in Brookes video for Get your boots on too check it out! Anyway my family EAGERLY preordered and thoroughly enjoyed this - all ages can enjoy it.

What a predictable turd. Like eating at a shady Brazilian restaurant but buying the Pepto first. Five minutes in you could already tell the "Hallmark Holiday" plot. Gal is engaged to guy she's not "really" in love with but only realizes he's a loser until she's around the ex that she never really got over. It really took that to realize the guy wasn't the one? Barf. If it wasn't for the funny Barry Corbin as the grampa who you can't help but love and laugh at, this wouldn't have been worth the time I wasted watching it. There is nothing endearing about the lead actress, the "ex" she realizes she still loves, the family that surrounds her, or really anyone else in the movie besides the grampa.

Terrible acting
Not funny
No story
Colouring was awful . . .all of the Caucasian actors looked anaemic . . .
Really terrible and would not recommend.

I didn't find anything particularly "funny" about this movie. To start with, from the way people behave: Samantha's family invites her ex-boyfriend to spend the holidays with them and nobody told her. Then he tries to win her back after breaking up with her years ago, without much apologize or reasons for breaking up in the first place. Kids kick an adult, nobody reacts, no apologize either. And don't get me started on the big boyfriend's reveal at the end...
The actors are equally bad, except from the little girl maybe. There is absolutely zero chemistry between the leads, whether it is between Samantha with her boyfriend or her ex-boyfriend. Pass!

Just like his stand-up comedy this movie is tasteless and baseless. I don't understand why Maga conservative people make garbage movies like this when they have no basis? Like just give up your career and look up to do something else. This is just terrible. This movie seriously makes me want to watch paint dry at least that's somewhat entertaining to look at the science of how paint actually dries on surfaces, which would be more entertaining than this movie. It would even be more entertaining than this guy's comedy specials if you even wanna call them that or any Maga rally for that matter. Lol.

The acting is terrible and everything is forced and awkward. But it's a very formulaic "feel good" clean holiday movie so there IS some comfort in that. It's the kind of movie to have on in the background when family is over for the holidays. No one needs to really pay attention and you dont have to worry about language or violence in front of grandma or the kids. You can fall asleep watching it and not feel like you really missed anything good.
The one other good thing about the casting is it was nice to see the leading lady wasn't stick-thin. She's gorgeous and has a realistic, lovely figure. So that's nice representation for those of us normal-sized ladies!

Actors and actress were horrible, story line was boring, and honestly I didn't like it at all. But, it is not such a movie that no one enjoy it. If you are looking for killing some time with your family and just watch something funny, it could be good. But don't expect a lot of laughter. Have fun.

Before I watched the movie I read an interview with the writer/director, Adam White, and was curious to see if he pulled off creating a Hallmark-esque movie that men could enjoy. I also read reviews highlighting good points and some negative ones too. In short, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit and certainly feel it's worthy of re-watching.
I honestly thought the cast was pretty great. The acting talents of the adult characters kept me engaged in the story and everyone seemed natural cohesive. Everyone felt well-casted, although I would have liked to see more diversity in the main characters. Summer Bellessa did an admirable job leading the story, while Kevan Moezzi and Jason Gray played their roles quite well.
The story was relatable and interesting. Strangely, one bad review I read claimed the opposite, but after seeing the movie, I can only deduce that the reviewer must have been reviewing the trailer, not the movie. The movie laid-out everything; the background stories are well-established and the motives and conflicts are clearly reasonable.
I enjoyed the characters and performances of many of the supporting characters. Jon Heder's (Samantha's brother) hilarious post credit scene may be missed by some who didn't stay for the credits. Pat Finn (Samantha's father) was consistently funny and enjoyable. Every scene with Grandpa Joe, Barry Corbin, was enjoyable and often hilarious.
Adam White delivered on his promise to create a Hallmark-esque movie that all can enjoy. I laughed often and I was touched by the serious moments as well. I'm certain I will re-watch this film over the years.

Every year, My husband, my Son, and I volunteer at a homeless shelter every Holiday. The banter between the actors while serving the food to the homeless was extremely distasteful, and outright Rude. They almost never made eye contact with the ones that were shown, Never a "Hi ! How about (whatever they were serving) Happy Holiday .. Nothing.
Acting was not great, story line was OK.
Agreed. I love Jon Heder. I would watch anything he was in.

It's absolutely 10 stars in my book, although I almost turned it off the first 15 minutes so I absolutely get the people who don't follow through. The start makes more sense and becomes funny later so don't miss the end. It's predictable to a point, but I actually was thrown on this movie because in some ways it's almost more realistic when it comes to how people really are. But it is presented in exaggerated ways.
However, my eight year old and husband's laughter stopped me from expecting what this movie isn't and I relaxed and laughed with them. What you get is your Hallmark fix in a clean and at times zany romantic comedy with lines you will find yourself quoting after the movie or when you watch it again. What they get is almost mini skits that keep them watching with you as you truly feel good during this wholesome feel good movie that at times may make you cringe, but I think that's the point!
Seriously, what kind of humor are you going to get in a movie made by comedians including a Studio C skit comedian Jason Gray, the actor who played Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder. Yet, most shockingly the Persian American shock comedian who plays the lead role (Who isn't even in the beginning of the movie) yet he did a shockingly good job not being shocking and instead being serious enough to let others to land the jokes as he played his part perfectly as a real guy who just happens to be a comedian.
K-Von and the lead female (and other women) bring a needed calm to offset it all and keep the plot moving and chill. The contrast is unique to this film, but it works.
This is the perfect movie to watch September to November when you want that wholesome Christmas feeling, but it's still only fall. So make some apple cider and you better have pumpkin pie and share this with family who need something lovely and light. It's absolutely a Thanksgiving film and they did a wonderful job at that nostalgia. It's just "camp" enough to make grandpa complain that it's weird and just sweet and serious enough to have grandma be willing to watch it again and grandpa agree.
Without spoilers this movie is hard to explain. I never heard of it, but I absolutely loved it and plan to watch it yearly in the Fall and have already introduced it to others looking for the perfect fall family flick that they can get their whole family to sit through and discuss, love or hate, after. That's part of the draw and experience. It lives past the ending. This move deserves it's word of mouth views.

It was so refreshing to see a clean romantic comedy that was funny, clean, and wholesome. This was much better than Hallmark movies. I laughed and laughed. We still talk about it even weeks later. It's obviously not a high budget, great actor blockbuster but it was so good for being a holiday "hallmark/lifetime" type movie. So many funny moments and characters happenings. John Heder was great as he always is in the way only John Heder can be, K-Von is hilarious and a pretty good actor and perfect for his part,Jason Gray was over the top in the best way (it made his character so much funnier), and Brooke White was great (loved her in American idol) and she can act! I laughed through the whole show and am going to recommend everyone. Hulu scored getting this one. It was a nice change from all the serious holiday movies that feel like they are always playing during the holidays. Watch it, most people won't regret it.
