There's a lot going on here. Knowing the country's stigma towards dogs, this movie tries its best to change the status quo. It felt like the movie was made solely for this reason.

Though it's got honorable intentions, the plot really did felt forced (another word for it might be predictable). Going into this in detail must contain spoilers, but there's this one scene in particular that would make people straight up laugh cause of how improbable the whole thing was.

Acting was awesome, the dogs did well too. Stray dogs can be innately smart too, why not? But something really did bug me about the dogs. They used 2 completely different dogs to portray June, the main dog of the movie. They were not the same breed (original June is like a white belgian, substitute is a white husky). Felt like insulting the audience, thinking that people won't notice. Insults dog owners even more, which is what hit me personally. Hence my review title.

Indonesian pride kept me from rating this movie any lower. I am biased in this way. But they truly could have made a way better movie. Cast and directorial style is already there, just ruined by the decision in cutting corners with some aspects of the movie.

Only the second Indonesian movie ever about dogs since 'Boni & Nancy' (John Tjasmadi, 1974), Noviandra Santosa's 'June & Kopi' is one of those typical animal films that's heartwarming, has a sad ending, and never really rises beyond that level. Enjoyable, with the diligent performances of its canine stars are a treat and a delight to watch, but the movie suffers from flawed writing and mediocre execution. (It's called 'June & Kopi' but Kopi does nothing at all?)

The plot is very predictable; also, the performances are not very good, the dogs were the best actors.

I am a sucker for dog movies , really anything to do with dogs . This was a touching story as far as animals are concerned , it kept you drawn in and was a cute family movie for kids of all ages .

Possibly it's a cultural difference, but the dad was an unbelievable jerk with a very controlling personality. I did not like the power dynamic at all in the family , especially relating to decisions about the dog , the dad acts like a master of the wife . This was the biggest bother and brought my score down a lot .

It's cute and feel good but with some major issues .

Its just ruins all the story...June change to be short hair white dog to fluffy white dog...its just not possible to watch....

People complaining how the dog is too clean, that the story line is weak. Yes, is not an Oscar winning story, it's just the story of a normal family and their dogs! You know that dog movies are like this! If you like dogs you'll surely enjoy this movie.

The only joy i get from watching this movie is to see June & Kopi and the maid aunty. weak story line.

The story is very unrealistic considering that this is a story of 'stray dogs', first of all, the dog is too clean for a 'wild dog' and too smart for it . like wth, where do you meet a stray dog that smart, how can you understand anything just by looking, and not being taught at all? . also, the story is very unrealistic and easy to guess, and there is an element of "the hero magically appeared to save the day" . the title should be 'june and karin' rather than 'june and coffee' coffee doesn't do jack sh * t lol . its so obvious that the dogs are trained, its not natural also the dogs are so inconsistent lol, they kept changing between long and short fur

its not worth it, if you are looking for a movie that contains elements of onions i would suggest the actual sad dog movies like 'hachi - a dog's tale' 'togo' 'eight below' 'a dog's purpose' 'marley and me'

I can't even say this is the movie. The plot not clear direction. Have title for 2 dogs name but honestly...what is "Kopi" do in this movie? And for the other cast? not strong character even for June itself. The star that I give only for effort to make this movie with animal as a main cast and the dogs itself.

As a animal lover I support this movie. This movie is great. It had moments that made me laugh and cry. Anybody that hates this movie should stfu. This movie's revenue goes to charity, which is a great cause. I'm not saying that the people who rated this so low are prejudiced,,, but they are prejudiced 😃

It's just a average family movie nothing special. But still watchable.

I think the moral value of the story so amazing! and so touching movie for me as a dog lover.<3 good job

I am watching this movie because I am little bit surprised, this is a first Indonesian movie about dog that I know. But it makes me disappointed!

The story is weak and boring! I think June is over exposed thats makes Kopi looks so useless in this movie. Also as a stray dog June is super clean, and smart. I living with stray dogs for years and never find a dog like June it clean and nice. Usually stray dogs keep their distance to strangers . At least please make it little bit real yeah. Also the stunt dog makes me little bit disturbed!

If you want to spent your tears on Dog's movie I think June and Kopi is not a good option. Go find another real dogs movie!

I have never watched an Indian movie like this before. This was one of the nicest movie I've ever seen. The story is about a stray dog that will then become a family dog. The dog hates kids but in order to please her new family she is making her way of understanding the love for the kids. I cried for this movie as this dog had an amazing bond with the Karin. I am pleased i have seen it. Very emotional movie and love for the dogs. Thank you

I love dog and i wan to watch movie about dog. But, c'mon??? i even can't call it a movie.

I know the movie is not really realistic and there are lots of something odd here and there. But thats okay for me.

It has well-trained dogs. The scene between the two dogs is beautiful but the plot is very bad. The female actor's acting is not that great.

And they did not do justice to kopi. He was often left out. Show that dog too. It's a one-time watch only. They could have made it more realistic.

Its still watchable, and good job for the people whose contribute to this amazing film

We watched this with our family including our nine year old daughter and we all really enjoyed it. It has all the usual ingredients of a tearjerker film about pets but nonetheless, we thought it was great.

I'm unsure why there are criticisms about the acting-we thought it was a well made film. Also, the use of several dogs was not even noticed by us.

Good family entertainment that is enjoyable to watch with children aged about five and older.

These bad comments writers seem to think they're some sort of professional critics, this isn't a action Grammy nominated movie this is just a somewhat younger generation movie to portray the bond between pets and humans, and if u don't claim that the illustration of the act throughout the movie did not make you tear up than you shouldn't be watching a children's movie in the first place.

If you love dogs, this film is for you. Grab your tissues before you watch the ending.

The dad was a major jerk, the mom was too submissive and acted out of character during the last part of the movie. The ending is awful and doesn't teach anybody anything. Kids will be scarred for life.
