Very slow paced and at times gets deviated from the core script. Kirti Kulhari should have been better. Pankaj Tripathy and Anupriya have held the entire plot on their shoulders. But flawed direction and snail speed proceedings bore you from beginning. Still a good watch. Not at par with the earlier instalment.

Unnecessary drag ...not so strong storyline and the season could have been made a bit more engaging within 5-6 episodes. Lot many threads left open ended and felt a few characters/storyline were not required at all, like the father of the actress, the drug angle, Sania - random lady, nikhat's family angle, a few characters in the prison

The star cast brilliant, acting superb. I watched after looking few faces on poster, specially Pankaj Tripathi, Deepti Naval etc.
Superb acting.
Drawback - Biggest drawback is its slow, very slow. Story of 4 episodes converted to 8. You can see police or lawyer when moving to say something takes 8 to 12 or 15 sec to speak, in mean they just see each other and give expressions.
Biggest drawback that pushes me to pull down my rating is the cause on which complete story is based which is quite obvious in first episode only. I won't state here to spoil the suspense. But I feel that reason is something not BIG to have as motive. There are small things around it, but not great motive.

As, my title is concern I want to present my review in respect to Mr. mishra ji and her wife. The combo is great and is very limited but when seen will make you either laugh aloud or cry too (at last). For other screenplay review kindly refer other reviews. Its great but as someone written the jail scene is a bit more repetitive but its necessary too. Must must watch. Review from Kathmandu, Nepal.

With his genuine performance Tripathi kept the show worthwhile for watching.. else it is too mundane with everyone trying to relate with the accused in one way or another.. Vidyarthiji was gods but his talent was wasted, could have used him better..

Apoorva, who outlined the pain and consternation of the gay community through 'Aligarh', has worked through this web series to bring an issue related to women from behind closed doors to the front, which is often not considered an issue.
'Criminal Justice-Behind Closed Doors' furthers Apoorva's mission of portraying human sensibilities as being a court drama.
The story of 'Criminal Justice Season 2' is straightforward and predictable. The writer has not even tried to confuse it with the screenplay.
The focus thriller has been more of an issue than coherent, with short twists and turns. The essence of the entire series, which hinges on it, is also known to the viewer in the opening scenes. However, it is accurately revealed in the last episode.
However, the story of this series seems to be slow in some places, especially the prison scenes are repeated at times.
The web series 'Criminal Justice-Behind Closed Doors' may have been described as a courtroom drama, but you will be disappointed if you sit around expecting a suspense thriller to watch it. Watch it calmly.
Pankaj Tripathi, Anupriya Goenka, and Mita Vashistha are associated with the first season of Criminal Justice, have also looked strong in this season.
There is a truth, understanding, and compassion in the character of advocate Madhav Mishra, played by Pankaj Tripathi with all sincerity.
At the same time, Anupriya Goenka has also done full justice to her character. On her part, the director has given many important dialogues, which she has been successful in bringing out effectively.
Also, artists like Jishu Sengupta, Ashish Vidyarthi, Adrija Sinha, Pankaj Saraswat, Ayaz Khan, Kalyani Mule, Ajit Singh Palawat, Khushbu Atre have fully supported the story.
It would not be wrong to say that the characters of 'Criminal Justice' are a strong side of this series.
The story revolves primarily around Anu Chandra, played by Kirti Kulhari. The actress has already won her acting in films and series like Pink, Mission Mangal, Uri, Four More Shots Please.
In 'Criminal Justice', she also appears to be dissolved in her character. In short dialogues, Kirti continues to connect with the audience with her gestures.

Plot of the series is indeed very good, with a social message at the end. All the actors have done justice to their roles, with a special mention of a chemistry between Pankaj Tripathi and his wife, it is so charming to see them.
The sub plots have also been weaved well within the main story which takes it forward.
The only negative I found that mystery when revealed at the end was not very convincing.
Rest all good.
Looking for the 3rd season for a more gripping suspense drama.

Storyline is based on serious issue, that was good. Pankaj Tripathi and Anupriya Goenka acting was good. But some episode's too overstretched. I some points/scene not required. It's courtroom drama. I can watch only for pankaj Tripathi. Season 1 is better than season 2.

Insult to season one! Hands down to the acting skills of Pankaj Tripathi and Anupriya Goenka were brilliant but I wish they wud have given some dialogues to Kriti too rather than just crying. As a summary u can watch episode 1 and directly episode 7&8. You are not missing much. It shud have been a 3-4 episode series but they went over and beyond. All in all it deserves no more than 3/10.

Top notch story, the murder mystery you think it is simple but not.
How every episodes complete you see the complications of the murder revealed.
And when in last the main mystery comes.
You will shock.
Every one have to watch this.
And Mishraji's wife's character is awesome.

Well presented and overall good acting from everyone. Good plot. Special appreciation for Anupriya Goenka, she is just so sharp and strong in her character. Pankaj Tripathi as usual Man of Steel. Kirti Kulhari justified her role.

It is better than most of the webseries out there. The concept is pretty good , "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS", AS most of the unholy activities take place inside our houses .

The story could have been told in 1 or 2 episodes. I'm even willing to buy 3 episodes. But 8 is an overkill. The premise is good, but its overstretched. The most frustrating part is Anuchandra (Kirti K). All she does for 7 episodes is stare into space and cry. She hardly has any dialogues till the last episode. The part I don't get is - why are 2 good lawyers trying to help a client who has no interest in saving herself?
Acting wise, the 2 lawyers are awesome (as expected) and so are the 2 married police inspectors, Harsh and Gauri. In fact, the actress who plays Gauri is very good. And Mishraji's wife is the best part of the show.
I just wish that the writers had written a better part for Kirti. All she does is stare into space with a sad face. Very frustrating.

Okay, soooo... I watched Season 2 of *Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors* because, hello, the first one totally had me in a chokehold. Like, emotionally. Not literally. But also maybe literally. Anyway, this season promised courtroom drama, messy marriages, and dark secrets. So obviously I was in, heels first.
First of all, it opens with a bang. Like... an actual wife stabbing her husband. In the back. In cold silence. Kirti Kulhari's character, Anu Chandra, just literally goes full stoic killer wife mode, and I was like-oh we are NOT doing gentle this season. And yet... it *was* gentle. It was quiet pain. Slow-burning trauma. Hidden screams behind a perfectly done saree pleat. Ugh. Chills.
Now, unlike Season 1 where the whole thing felt like watching an emotionally artistic version of CID with Aditya's story (remember him?), this time it was giving pure *Desperate Housewife but make it Post-Traumatic Indian Wife Edition*. This was not about whether she did it. It was about *why* she did it. And that was a refreshing shift! But also, I missed the jail drama a little bit? Season 1 had sooo much psychological messiness in prison. This time, it felt like the producers got shy or something.
Kirti Kulhari? An acting goddess. Her silence said more than any of the dialogues ever could. The way she just sat there in jail, not crying, not raging, just... existing? It broke me. Every twitch, every blink felt heavy with secrets. And then Anupriya Goenka as her lawyer? I love her. I just do. She plays her character like she's holding the weight of a hundred wronged women in her handbag. She's soft but sharp, classy but savage. She's literally justice in a power suit.
Now... let's talk about the part I didn't vibe with: Pankaj Tripathi. Okay, yes, he's talented. Yes, we love his sarcasm. But this season, they had him married to a woman half his age with random eczema plotline completely erased from memory. Like... are we not going to talk about the fact that in Season 1 he was flaking like a lizard and now he's just cracking jokes in bed with his new bride? That subplot felt *so filler*, and honestly, I didn't need it.
The legal drama was still top-tier though. Watching Anu's case unfold, seeing the trauma wrapped up in the way society treats wives, watching how people are *so* quick to assume a woman is either hysterical or calculating - it was... a lot. In a good way. The show made a strong case (pun intended) for how the law can either save a woman or ruin her, depending on who gets to speak first.
I did wish for more intense jail scenes, though. Season 1 gave us raw psychological breakdowns, layers of social politics inside prison, and truly hard-hitting emotional beats. Season 2's prison setup felt a little too calm. Like it was emotionally sanitised. And that's a shame, because Kirti's performance deserved a grittier backdrop.
The side story with the two police officers? Cute but unnecessary. It just ate screen time that could've been given to deeper conversations or even flashbacks to Anu's life with her husband before she snapped. We needed more context. A little more marital rape exploration and a little less police banter.
But the show *does* hit hard with its central message. It's not about proving innocence in the legal sense. It's about proving a woman's emotional survival. And that's what makes this show so powerful. It's not afraid to say: "Hey, maybe she did kill him. But maybe he killed parts of her for years first."
Overall, this season is slower, moodier, and more emotionally complex than Season 1. It's not better. It's different. Less thrilling, more haunting. And if you're someone who's into courtroom drama layered with commentary on marriage, patriarchy, and hidden trauma - then *yes*, you will find this absolutely binge-worthy.
Rating: 7/10
Strong performances, important themes, but weighed down slightly by uneven focus and some unnecessary subplots. Still, absolutely worth watching - especially if you're a girly girl who loves some courtroom justice, layered trauma, and slow, emotionally textured storytelling with a red bindi twist.

You can watch this only for Pankaj Tripathi's acting. Otherwise, the story was really overstreched. Way too slow and repeating at times and so many unnecessary things. All in all, you could wrap it up in like 2-3 episodes.
