For an anime strickly about fighting there is not one continuous fight scene. The actual action is basically colored manga panels.
It seems they spent all their money on the appearance of the show and had nothing else to spare. Its obvious they extend any dialogue scene and flashback to its max potential to avoid having to make an actual action scene.
It is such a shame so many other animation studios and productions could do this anime so much more justice. The potential for this was sky high with, with the proliferation of so much new anime series with their focus on combat, this pales in comparison.

In a way its like a mixture between "Kengan Ashura" "Baki (during the raitai tournament" and "Drifters". I definitely don't dislike it, but I can't see it winning any major awards anytime soon. If your having a lazy day/night and fancy binging on a anime series, I'd recommend it. There are other shows out there that get straight to the point or are quite predictable, but I like how this one drifts from the main story and has a very detailed back story to each method or technique etc used while a character is in either combat or explaining something.
I've noticed there are alot of bad reviews on here about this show, but I'd say thats probably down to people expecting it to be alot more fast paced, which it definitely isn't.
If the fights were somehow edited to be shorter without the back stories, then the reviews would probably be alot higher, but you'd be able to watch the whole thing in only a couple of episodes.

If you came looking for a story driven intens plot liking anime this is not for you. If you just want to see people and gods knock the living hell out of eachother this is def the right anime for you. This season contains 3 big fights ( out of 13) and i enjoyed them all. There is humor in here and the drawing and fighting is on par with today's anime's. I think this Anime deserves a 7,5 but because it has such a low vieuwing im rounding it up to 8.

The animation being mediocre is one thing. But the soundtrack is amazing, the tension is out of this world and the character backstories are very interesting. The show reaches its peak in the last 4 episodes and it was an amazing ride till the end. Can't wait for the second season.

I actually really like this anime. It's exciting and I don't mind all the talking and backstory that is given before and in the middle of fights. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews about this anime because I loved the premise from the start. But this review is coming from a person who has not read the manga yet so I could be wrong, but coming into this with zero expectations or knowledge of the manga I love it and cried at the 4th episode. Seems like a lot of the negative reviews have something against Netflix and I get it but don't let your hatred for Netflix affect your opinions of this anime because it's worth the time and it's fun.

Me personally find the historical figures and fights very good. But i dont really know but netflix did it dirty. The Emotions when i read the manga were higher. But the backstorys were pretty simple but the fights were interessting. Its doesnt have a real maincharacter besides this Valkyre and it also has a basic plot but the only enjoyable things are the fighting and the emotions during the fightings. Thats it.
I hope they make a 3rd season somehow and a better one. I feel like that was a nice show to watch, it would be a nice starter anime. The Ratings are a little bit to low in my opinion. The final fight episodes are good so for some episodes i would actually expect to have 8,5/10. Naturally the final fight where you see who wins and who loses is hyped. So yeah... that was it.

A brand new Netflix anime just dropped. 13 Human and gods battled each other in the final battle of Ragnarok to determine if humanity will be destroyed by the gods.
The series is the typical fighting anime where characters spend 1000 years talking and having flashbacks before actually fighting for like 10 minutes. There were only 3 matches out of the 13 in the first season, and each took about 4 episodes. If you like this kind of anime, you would probably enjoy this anime as it wasn't unique in its plot formula.
However, the interesting part of the series was that different gods and famous historical figures fought each other. Each character had a flashback, and the flashback served to hype up the character, which is the usual stuff. Of course, the flashbacks were blown and exaggerated.
Coming in, I expected lots of fun actions, even though I was aware that there would be character flashbacks. But oh man, there were just so much narrations compared to actual fighting scenes. The first fight was the worst. I got so dragged and bored at the excessive talking and reactions. The later two matches were better and had more actions. I did have some fun watching those two matches, but still the long narration delayed the excitement and thrill of these fights.
As for animation, it was pretty okay for the most part. Every male character has crazy muscles, and some of the female characters looked excessively erotic. Again, this is the usual stuff. However, some CGI scenes were noticeably bad, especially the one with the guy who played the violin. The hip movements were so unrealistic and weird. It looked like his body was wiggling.
Overall, a fun concept that I found some entertainment in, but the overload of narrations and reactions really dragged the pacing. Hope if they do a season 2, which they probably will, there would be a lot more actual fightings. 5/10.

Like good old Dragon Ball! Storyline of each character is accurate, dialogues are interesting if you are interested in the characters, that adds to the fight itself. Otherwise it would be just another mindless smashing.
Keep on going as it is! Kojiro Sasaki and Miyamoto Musachi the best real characters so far! Story of zerofuku and buddha is about people, and their inability to thrive when everything is given.
Giant sumo was a real person as well. Representations of other mythical characters are also accurate with whichever lore they are from.
Some of the comments are saddening. People just want mindless animation.

Record Of Ragnarok, as the name says gets started straightaway with 13 battle between Gods and humans, to decide mankind's existence. The first season spanned 12 episodes covering 3 battles and to be honest, it was not disappointing, but not much of a satisfactory result as well.
The animation by Graphinica (Hellsing Ultimate) was okay, but during the heavy fighting sequences, the animation was terrible and it felt like there were no physical movement between the characters while having a fight. It was sort of pasting the characters directly from the manga into the screen.
The soundtrack was pretty amazing and so was the backstory of the human fighters. The battle between Poseidon and Sasaki was the only super positive point in the whole series. Season 2 would require huge improvement, especially in terms of it's consistent animation and avoiding quirky dialogues.
GOOD Amazing Soundtrack, OST Backstory Of Human Characters Battle between Sasaki vs Poseidon
BAD Animation was weak, especially in the fighting sequences A lot of irrelevant dialogues
My Rating : 7/10.

I feel like netflix is trying to ruin the anime industry by taking good mangas and doing them dirty...Like they made such an average anime out of an amazing manga.... I had so many emotions reading the manga, but literally 0 emotions watching the anime...It felt so empty for some reason. Just go read the manga it s far better.

Come on we keep getting flashbacks and too much talks between the fights, it really just felt like commercials, and the action wasn't as heated and gory as they portrayed it to be or I assumed it to be, honestly I got bored of it immediately it began.

The Record of Ragnarok is an amazing manga, the thrill of reading about every fight was amazing. The Netflix anime try to replicate the thrill and excitement. I won't say they failed but they took away the essence of the manga. The fights were good in the anime but they could have been a lot better if studios like Mappa were working on it. The main character line Designs are great not going to lie. I think they made an amazing animated Poseidon. The opening theme Kamigami is really good, gets you pumped up for each episode. Overall the anime is not that bad for me it's watchable. It could have been an amazing anime if more efforts were put into it. The Record of Ragnarok is a beautifully written shonen, I loved it when I first read it. I always used to think how will it look if it got animated. I won't say I was disappointed but I didn't have that feel either. So yeah watchable that's all I am going to say.

DON'T TRUST THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF THE CRITICS! They are crazy!!
Record of Ragnarok is an exhilarating anime that captivates viewers with its gripping storyline and breathtaking action sequences. Based on the popular manga series of the same name, this adaptation does not disappoint in delivering an epic battle between gods and humans.
The anime portrays an intense showdown between the gods who seek to exterminate humanity and a group of chosen human champions who fight in representative battles to determine whether humanity should be saved or destroyed. This overarching conflict sets the stage for a series of intense and adrenaline-pumping battles that leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
One of the anime's strengths lies in its diverse and complex characters. The human champions, each selected from different historical periods and cultures, are given depth and compelling backstories. The gods themselves are also intriguing, with their unique personalities, motives, and powers. Each battle becomes a clash of ideologies and a test.

The Story is just really great! Even often being forseeable. The characters are awesome and all really interesting. You can feel the power of the gods in each of their movements and they feel so mighty! Also to see how the humans stay together and fight as one, showing their hopes and feeling of being unite is just great! Who is expecting something realistic from anime is watching the wrong things here anyway. Also the drawing/Art style is totolly my thing and often really detailled for an anime! They totally earn Kudos for that!
I need to admit, I'm just in the middle of the 12th episode, but so far I enjoyed each episode to the fullest, telling a great story and even being predictable in my cases being also able to surprise me in others, and offering a nice variation with each new fight. For me a total reccomandation for anime fans, who don't take the freedoms they took from the real history, the totally exagerated actions and behavings and the oversized breasts of several women too seriously. So, perfect for me. If one of those 3 points annoyes you, this won't be the right series for you.

Record of Ragnarok is an anime series that takes viewers on a thrilling journey through epic battles between gods and humans. The show seamlessly blends mythology, action, and hype, leaving audiences at the edge of their seats.
The storyline is undeniably captivating, showcasing epic duels between deities and formidable human fighters. The build-up to these battles is brilliantly executed, with each character's backstory and motivations adding depth and meaning to the clashes. This aspect of the anime truly makes it a compelling watch for fans of action-packed storytelling.
Furthermore, the concept of having mythical gods pitted against human champions in a grand tournament is a breath of fresh air and provides a unique twist to the typical battle anime genre.
However, while the story shines, the animation quality can be a bit inconsistent. Some fight scenes are impressively fluid and intense, delivering jaw-dropping action sequences. On the other hand, there are moments where the animation seems lacking or rushed, which can be slightly troublesome for immersion.
The character development is commendable, and viewers will find themselves rooting for their favorite fighters as they confront their divine adversaries. Each character represents their culture and mythology mostly with authenticity, showcasing a diverse and well-researched cast of fighters.
In addition to the intense battles, the anime delves into philosophical themes, exploring the essence of humanity and divinity. These thought-provoking elements elevate the series beyond just a spectacle of action.
In conclusion, Record of Ragnarok is a thrilling and hype-inducing anime that explores the depths of mythology while delivering epic battles and captivating storylines. Despite some hiccups in the animation, the compelling buildup and engaging characters more than compensate for any shortcomings.

Just spare your time and watch some good anime. Luckily Netflix still has some. This is not one of those. It is so bad i even spare my time writing about it. No clue who wrote the script, it's just embarrasing.
I stopped watching the series 5min after the 3 episode. If i am very very bored i might continue, but i seriously doubt that.

Every one thousand years, the Gods' Council assembles to decide the fate of humanity. After many years of human history, the gods come to the decision that humans are irredeemable and must go extinct. However, during the council the valkyrie Brunhilde, a demigod, intercedes in the name of humanity and proposes to give humanity one last chance to prove their worth. The gods agree to hold the battle of Ragnarok, a tournament with 13 notable humans from across history against 13 of the most powerful gods engaging in duels to the death. Humanity will be spared if they achieve 7 victories against the gods.
First after that brief introduction, I have to say that I don't have any previous experience with the material, don't reading the manga, so I am not comparing and judging the anime by itself.
The animation is bad, lacking fluidity and composed mainly of static scenes; and the story isn't told in a very good way, lacking depth and drama.
Despite the many flaws, it is still very watchable and a very fun anime in a trashy way. Really dumb fun with over the top action.
