Saani kaayidham is a movie with hefty amount of violence. The plot of the movie is revenge of the lead Ponni. The main character are Ponni and Sangaiyan.
The cinematography of the movie is so impressive. Each and every frame of the movie is so artistic.
The Performance of Keerthy suresh and Selvaraghavan is absolutely stunning especially selvaraghavan's rage in the fight scenes is just watch. Waiting for more of his role in future.
Arun mateshwaran direction is unique,he uses more of the black and white frame in his movie and different screen ratio to particular scene makes the movie a different feel.
The movie contains more high violence which may be not suitable for some audience. Sometime the violence of the movie seems to be repetitive.
The movie is somewhat similar to the plot and tone of the director's previous movie. It may be because of the similar premise of the previous movie.
Overall the movie is predictable but has some layer and quality action, cinematography and direction.

Having watched the director's first movie, Rocky, I went into this one expecting brilliant cinematography and good sound design. This had it all. The movie is visually really good. Brilliant acting by Keerthi Suresh and Selvaraghavan! The writing though....
Revenge tales all usually start at the same spot, so the character development, HOW that revenge is exacted, and the catharsis take centerstage. So, as a story, there are two ways to look at the film.
1. Kollywood's 'new-age' version of Kill-Bill or 2. A female version of Rocky (2021) with a different origin story with some social commentary.
Watch it and see where you fit it. Regardless of those buckets, I felt that the revenge part of the movie felt...'easy'...The movie also uses so many plot conveniences. I'd have watched this movie in two parts bc that might have given the characters more time to develop and time for more details.
If you liked the Tamil Rocky, surely check this out. You'll either really like it or feel that there's nothing different in it except that the film has a female lead.

As I said in my Rocky review, director Arun Matheswaran has created his own identity with a unique voice in the Tamil film industry. The unprecedented experience that he made me feel with his debut "Rocky", I didn't see that in his latest outing, and it fails to recreate the same. The cinema of revenge is infused in every frame with both violence and subtexts which doesn't pay off and feels rushed especially the caste and toxic masculinity angle felt poorly written.
It didn't surprise me that the director divided the narrative into chapters and It is stretched out to 136 minutes. Once the epilogue starts with the blind boy, i realized that it has taken too much time and it doesn't make much sense only prioritise an orgy of violence and gore. I must say the choreography is fantastic and the fight scenes are original, at times comical due to the overacting of Keerthi Suresh which looks ridiculous. I must say the climax portion was bad, she tries too hard to show her emotions. At no point throughout the film, we learn she doesn't call Sangayya by his name. When she does, he is dead and the scene was too artificial, even the scream before she rams the Matador van was very funny. Be it using a pistol, a knife, acid or bare hands, Keerthi's willingness to exude revenge seems to work strictly in parts. I can't say she was awful; we must appreciate her for trying such a role, but the best is, without a doubt, Selvaragahvan, who transmits to the spectators all the emotions he is feeling. He Is at his best here, whether he's interacting with the daughter of Ponni, trying his best to save the blind boy or when he lights the beedi and I want to give extra brownie points. There are more characters roaring seemingly without good writing, like scumbags and losers.
Coming to the writing, not much seems to happen in the 2-hour film, and it was boring to see Arun repeat himself, the supposed paedophile, Malarndhum Malaradha song, and i was pissed that Dhanraj character from "Rocky" was not used properly in this film during the pre-climax portion. The police interrogation which was in the trailer did't make it to the final cut. I was expecting to see how the scene unfolds but it was a letdown. I would say this film was a huge slog through the wasteland, literally, and as viewing experience it was average. There is a huge exaggeration in the fight scenes, which in my opinion was unnecessary and a little pointless, but other than that it's an above average attempt with mediocre writing that can be watched once. If you think i don't have the stomach to watch these kind of films, just peep the reviews i have posted and i bet that not even 70% of shallow cinephiles would have heard about the titles or directors mentioned by me.

The background score of U1 is next level. Screenplay, Storyline, Editing, Actors Selv, Keert and all actors have done they best. Some may not like for Violence and Gore. Over all the movie is awesome, could have been a Theatre release. This will get rights for other languages also. For sure this will be taken to next level.

Absurdly amazing movie that elicits the viewers to be part of the unhinged xenophobic gore. The trauma worn by the protagonists supports the well deserved blood bath. The screen play sits on the edge of artfulness. There is an avant garde gesture in the movie. The director has presented unabashed brutalism across the whole scope of the movie. Dialogues are minimalistic amidst the primary and secondary protagonists. Compelling to accept the coherent plot. Selva Raghavan is an extraordinarily natural displaying non professional acting which adds realism to the story. Keerthy Suresh is convincing enough. Not a family affair movie.

Vengeance is not by sending some one prison. It need to be extracted with the blood and the way they feel when in the death bed. In all the murder scene each and every women would have murmured or shouted yes he deserve this. That is how the director screen played the movie. Hats off to the whole crew who gave this worth movie to our eyes as a weekend special. Sangayya is not a name it's an emotion😔 Selva and keerthy are need to be celebrated for this whole power packed performance.

A coalition of utmost misogyny and deep-rooted casteism with some remarkable set of imageries (both in color and monochrome) creates this particular atmosphere, an unnerving one indeed which in turn makes you impatient about the next set of events and what might ensue and what not.
Now add some extra flavors of finely pitched performances and Voila! You've got yourself a tangible first half that shows enough promise. The latter half, however, failed to stand by that earlier commitment and faltered heavily in the process.
I'm in no way undermining its merits, there's a ton of blood, chopped off body parts, and a whole lot of chaos in general, and those who crave such carnage would cherish those moments but what the feature lacks is consistency that should exist and should have its place in-between those cycles of absolute fury and disdain. Not to mention, the Screenplay is dreary, eats up precious time in the middle, an odd preference considering the genre this movie falls into, and even more so surprising when you think about the situations, where the pace and a bit of momentum seemed like an indispensable need rather than a disposable alternative.
Disappointing!

Arun Matheshwaran's films tend to promote violence and vengeance, which may be concerning.
The story of this particular film is disappointingly shallow, and the noticeable age difference between Keerthi and Selvaraghavan's characters, despite being only around three years, creates an on-screen dynamic more resembling that of a father and daughter.
In comparison, the film "Rocky" surpasses this one in terms of both writing and directing.
Keerthi Suresh's performance could have been stronger had she refrained from overacting and opted for a more subtle approach. On the other hand, Selvaraghavan delivers his best performance.
For audiences familiar with the genre, the film lacks a significant impact and fails to leave a lasting impression.

Saani Kaayidham is a female centric revenge drama with more blood and minimal story. If Rocky had shades of Oldboy , this movie has the shades of Kill Bill. Cinematography is top notch and the background score is weird yet it goes well with every scene. Arun Matheshwaran really likes to let go of a scene so the editor takes a backseat again.
The main issue with Saani Kaayidham is that the emotion behind the revenge does not reciprocate well and the first act of the film is not so convincing. Also this movie relies so much on the leads Keerthi Suresh and Selvaraghavan that the villains are too weak. The entire movie felt like a Video game that has too much of violence played in the beginner level difficulty.
In Saani Kaayidham, I felt that the chapter names were apt for some and were the names were not apt for some chapters. This is kind of the same feel that I have with the entirety of the movie too. It works at parts but is mostly forgettable. The violence may feel new for tamil cinema.

Went in after reading the hype of this film. The violence portrayal is not as brutal as one would think. The script and action sequences are overly simple and the characters lack the intensity of revenge based characters. The film could have been much more deft if the comic book presentation could have been avoided. The acting of Keerthy Suresh at times comes off as over acting although SelvarRagavan does a decent job of his character. The cinematography is decent and mainly a one shot capture in most scenes . Overall the intensity of emotions is fairly present throughout the film. Its a worth a one time watch .

Nice revenge story. Strong portrayal of female lead role. Almost every actor in the movie did their part really well.
SR's moves look effortless, but that is the kind of acting needed for that role. Lot of bloodshed but that's the genre this movie fits in. Felt the drag at times, but that's not a big minus.
Must watch!

This is a well shot run of the mill revenge story with lots of gore. We have seen this before in Tamil and other industries. All the actors have done a decent job, except the main protagonist Keerthy Suresh. She sticks out like a sore thumb in many scenes cos of her overacting. Her body language and demeanor resembles more of a urban woman and is totally off in terms of playing the character. It's definitely watchable, but Keerthy Suresh was miscast.

I watched it for thirty minutes seemed to be a good movie but totally disappointing and in convincing a mother who is not illiterate but work as a police can be so foolish not pick up school returning daughter waiting for her at a isolated place which had no one around. Instead of picking up her daughter even when it gets dark she goes on duty call, which mother in her right sense will do it and she is on call in the night all alone by herself. The father is not bothered at all he is drunk and sleeping. Instead of sympathy for them you feel like such foolish parents should be jailed. With such a childish plot wasting your time watching it is not worth it.
