This drama follows two old friends who reunite after ten years. Kalani is caught up in his successful fast-paced construction business, while Nalu, who returns to Maui after 9 years in jail on the mainland, adjusts to the changes of 'progress'.

Kalani's constant fighting with his wife Kim, distant relationship with his son Conan, stress at his job, a lingering toothache and a near death experience brings the protagonist close to a breaking point. With unassuming help from Nalu, the family learns to better appreciate life on the island. The story also reveals how a person addicted to methamphetamine can remain undetected.

The film highlights the ethnic diversity of Maui and portrays the many different cultures living on the Hawaiian islands.
