Exclusive: Jamie Bacon, Brandon Mychal Smith, Monroe Cline and James Oliver Wheatley are to front Pretty Boy Delaney, a gritty indie pic set to the backdrop of the fentanyl crisis.

Filming is underway on the pic, which is billed as a character-driven drama tackling addiction, mental health, and homelessness. Bacon is writing, with Liv Forsythe (Time is Emotional) the director, and Dean Street Productions, Forsyth Films and Ck Films. Steven Cookson, Neylin Mutlu, Hussain Manawer (Mogul Mowgli) and Bacon are also producing. Nick DeCoster is exec producer.

In the film, Bacon plays the title character, a 26-year-old former boxing prodigy now battling a relentless fentanyl addiction on the streets of Skid Row – territory ruled by the cold and calculating Shannon (Smith) – after settling in California with his older brother John (Wheatley). Back in 1995, Leprechaun creator Mark Jones brought the world a horrific take on the classic fairy tale character Rumpelstiltskin. Thirty years later, a different filmmaker has made their own Rumpelstiltskin horror movie – and you can watch the trailer for the film in the embed above! This Rumpelstiltskin will be premiering at FrightFest Glasgow this weekend, heading for a VOD release in the United States on April 8th.

From director Andy Edwards, Rumpelstiltskin is premiering at UK’s FrightFest this weekend before hitting U.S. VOD on April 8.

Everyone Is Going to Die is a new thriller about Daniel, a wealthy businessman who is trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter Imogen while she is on suspension from school for punching a supposed friend who slept with her boyfriend. Since it’s also her birthday, the timing seems perfect.

However, before they can do much reconnecting they see someone wandering around in the yard wearing a mask that looks like a poor copy of the theatrical tragedy mask. While Daniel is telling them to get off his property another intruder, this one wearing a comedy mask and carrying a shotgun.

It’s not a random robbery attempt either, the pair have an unspecified grievance with Daniel, so the rest of the movie involves them humiliating him in front of his daughter...

The new Christmas-themed horror film Advent (alternatively known as The Krampus Calendar) had its world premiere at FrightFest Halloween earlier this year. And we talked to writer and director Airell Anthony Hayles about the Christmas-themed film at the event. You may know Hayles as the director of previous films such as They’re Outside and Werewolf Santa, and he also helmed one of the segments of the 2022 anthology film Midnight Peepshow. Advent stars Rasina Alexander as Hayley, a paranormal podcaster whose life begins to spiral out of control when she comes into possession of an item known as a Krampus Calendar. She believes it was created by the demonic being known as Krampus, which, as you will no doubt be aware, is closely associated with the Christmas season.

Airell Anthony Hayles is no stranger to the world of horror. The British filmmaker, producer, and writer has steadily carved out a space for himself in the genre, delivering a mix of thought-provoking narratives and imaginative frights. With a degree in Theatre and Film Studies from Goldsmiths College, University of London, Airell’s passion for storytelling and genre cinema has led him to work on projects as varied as Heckle, starring Steve Guttenberg and Dani Dyer, and Werewolf Santa, a darkly comedic twist on holiday folklore.

His latest project, Advent, premieres at FrightFest Halloween before its digital release on 25 November 2024. The film blends supernatural horror with contemporary themes, drawing inspiration from the sinister “Blue Whale Challenge” and placing its protagonist—a social media influencer—at the mercy of a cursed advent calendar. It’s a concept that embodies Airell’s approach to horror: merging unsettling modern realities with classic storytelling tropes.

Brand-new photos and an eerie film trailer show off Cinderella's Revenge. Expect twists, turns, sex, and violence in this upgraded horror version of the classic fairy tale. Actress Lauren Staerck stars as Cinderella, with Natasha Henstridge playing a blonde and Californian fairy godmother.

“This ain’t no fairy tale.” The tagline for Cinderella’s Revenge sums up the horror comedy perfectly as the classic story gets a gruesome upgrade this spring. That wicked stepmother and those insufferable stepsisters have pushed poor Cinderella too far. And with a little help from Cinder’s Fairy Godmother, the glass-slipper-wearing heroine is going to paint the town red with their blood.

Andy Edwards directs Cinderella's Revenge, and he promises a horrifying upgrade with many of the same central elements from the original storyline making the film. But there will also be plenty of twists and turns to surprise fans of the source material.

British horror cinema has a long-standing tradition of producing some of the best anthologies of all time, in particular in the era of Hammer, Tigon et al. So when a new anthology comes along it can be hard to separate it from history and tradition. Writer/director Airell Anthony Hayles’ horror comedy Werewolf Santa will be making its premiere at FrightFest in London on Friday, August 25th, with a second screening following the next day. With several days left to go until we reach the premiere date, Screen Daily reports that Miracle Media International is already planning to give Werewolf Santa a theatrical release in both the US and the UK sometime during November this year!

Whilst it struggles to find audiences elsewhere, the short film format continues to thrive within the horror genre, with shorts programmes proving popular at all the major festivals. Onee of the easiest ways to package it for distribution in formats which will actually see people get paid is through anthologies, most of which are planned out in advance around agreed themes. They vary wildly in quality, often taking on work from too many different filmmakers and ending up too tonally haphazard as a result, or with very weak links. Midnight Peepshow, which featured at this year’s Frightfest, is one of the better ones, with just three directors involved and an overarching plot which blends easily into each separate tale.
