The acting in this is very awkward and hard to watch. The lead character is pretty and delivers her lines in a more stage-type manner. I could almost feel her trying to think about what her facial expressions should be when she delivered a line, as she made them obvious. The Uncle and Oliver are the most believable characters but many of the other characters are very flat. The dialogue doesn't always feel natural. I think this cast would've had a better chance if the script felt more "real life" rather than "what the writers thought they should at each point in the story". It was hard to enjoy the movie when I felt like I was watching an acting class work on their acting. I watched about 20-30mins and had to turn it off. I'm kind of shocked that the reviews are higher and I can't help but think they were confusing this with the Gerard Depardieu movie of the same name?

Valley of Love is a nice story with some good plot changes. It was easy to follow and a nice story. Being a country loving person the I thought the scenario was beautiful. I particularly appreciated the hippotherapy focus since it really helps kids. It's nice to see more 'normal' actors. Sometimes the lower budget films without the high paid actors still tell good stories! No sex or cursing so it could be a good family movie too. The close captioning did make me laugh when they said the horses were "wheezing." Whining or neighing even snorting, but certainly not a wheeze. I'd recommend if you want a break from high action!
