Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (Ed) attached ₹10 crore worth of immovable assets belonging to director S. Shankar. This action is linked to a plagiarism allegation against him concerning Enthiran. The complaint was filed by Aarur Tamilnadan, who claims that the film’s plot was copied from his story Jiguba, published in a Tamil magazine in April 1996.

Initially, a civil suit was filed against S. Shankar and producer Kalanithi Maran in 2011. More than a decade later, in 2023, the Madras High Court dismissed the case, ruling that an idea—such as robots developing human emotions—cannot be copyrighted.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming action-thriller film ‘Indian 2’, veteran actor Kamal Haasan wished director Shankar Shanmugam (or Shankar) on his 59th birthday. Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter), the ‘Vikram’ actor sharing a picture of the two together tweeted: “Many happy returns of this day, Dear Shankar ji”.

Many fans congratulated the veteran Tamil director on his birthday while referring to the two as the ‘power-packed danger duo’. After his success with the 2022 version of his 1986 spy-thriller film ‘Vikram’, Kamal Haasan, who is now over 68 still has the same level of energy.

Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, aka Rajinikanth, will be the recipient of India’s prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. The prize recognizes lifetime contribution to cinema and is handed out by the Government of India.

Known for his work in Tamil cinema, Rajinikanth made his big screen debut in the 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal, with his career blossoming through roles in films including box office smash Baashha and more recently the sci-fi Enthiran and its sequel 2.0. A documentary about his fan following, For the Love of a Man, premiered at Venice in 2015.
