The stories fron the older people where great to hear and seeing the modern restored ww2 aeroplanes flying in the shy was quite a joy to watch.
That Kate Humble but, she pulled the whole show down. She was so cringey to watch and listen to cack on. Her 'over acting' and pushing her own political agendas was just the pits and really ruined what could of been a great little documentary.
Really disappointing.
But, i likes seeing those planes fly today and seeing some air battle tactics in full crisp colour.
Its a great story that should never be forgotten bit it needs better presentors that truly cate forvwhat happened and not fake and cringey like that Kate Humble, eww..

One of the worst documentaries I've ever seen. Had to laugh at the presenters lines a few times. Kate no you did not take to the air just as the airmen in the battle did, you weren't flying! And you're in a training Spitfire so no it's not "just like the one they flew". "Can you read out the next part please" so we can film your crying for this terrible documentary. And yeah we know women were part of the war, but when you present it by way of a pushy pseudo-feminist agenda, people actually care less about it. Can't rate it zero, so 1 star.

Firstly if you keep referring to a Hurricane as a Hurry Cane then your ignorance of Britain's fighters is certainly showing and your research is totally lacking. The continual use of the same footage over and over in subsequent episodes shows the second rate nature of this production. The poor German pilot continually depicted must have flown 24/7 as he is on every raid on England. It's on par with that great cinematic classic "Hunting Hitler'. And we all know how authentic that was. This fills the format of all those other great American History Channel greats that like to have some air of sensationalism by highlighting poor acting especially on Snow's part. Used to like his work but this is no better than the rubbish James Holland stupidly signed his name to in Hunting Hitler.

Kate Humble's contribution is best forgotten. That is the kindest way that I can put it it. In episode 2 she stated that the three women awarded the Military Medal were the first women EVER to have received the award. Her comments are an insult to the 130 plus women who were awarded it in World War One. These researches really should do their homework before allowing such drivel to make the final cut. Also watching Dan Snow getting that chap to read out the circumstances of his relative's death when he was clearly struggling to contain his grief from the Military records made me squirm with disgust and anger.
