A Love Yarn

A pleasant movie with wonderful scenery of New Zealand. Good ensemble cast and a good story. I recommend it to watch for good entertainment. Hallmark standards are kept which is good.

I don't understand how such a beautiful movie can just be rated 6; I smiled stupidly throughout the movie; I absolutely loved every part of the movie: the beauty of the landscapes, the acting, the cast, the cinematography, the originality of the story, everything was a real joy. The story highlights craftsmanship, especially knitting, community life, and shows very well the true meaning of success: staying true to who you are. I also really liked all the actors, especially the main actors who have a great chemistry together, not to mention the sheep, especially Barbara. Finally, in a world where only profit counts, where the fast pace of life prevents us from fully experiencing things, it is good to remember that it is important to live slowly in order to truly appreciate each moment of life. It is important to remember your dreams and the true meaning of your life. Such beautiful values, necessary in a world which has lost the true meaning of beauty and love.

I just watched this movie for the first time on the GAF channel and was waiting for somebody to Pray , ask God for help or to be told to have faith . It didn't happen and what unfolded was actually a really good movie instead - After I watched the movie I read the reviews and discovered this was actually a Hallmark movie made 4 years ago which explains why it was so good compared to the average sermon movies you usually get on the GAF - I actually watched this movie because it got an IMbD rating over 6 which is really unusual for a GAF movie - the Chemistry between the leads was excellent , the story moved and the scenery was awesome - this is a rewatchable movie to put in your library.

This movie has many of the usual things in it. Instead of a failing business or one whose property is being bought out by a developer, there is still a serious threat to Sophie's status quo. Instead of a property developer, Sam is a business expert from America sent by his dad to clean up the unprofitable parts of the business. Throw in Sophie's boyfriend Chris dumping her in the beginning when she is trying to celebrate his birthday.

Sophie sets out to make Sam fall in love with the local community which seems to be centered around the wool and yarn industry which Sam is about to upset. So much of the movie is these two spending time together doing no-one-cares-what as long as they save the business and fall in love. There is also a big festival for everyone to prepare for.

Beyond that there isn't a lot of story and there is a fair amount of screen time without dialogue, usually with background music.

Like so many of these, Chris tries to get her back. There is a misunderstanding that leads to a conflict with Sophie and Sam. I will say this particular misunderstanding was slightly unusual.

There is also a lot of scenery of New Zealand. Appealing.

I watch and review literally hundreds of TV movies like this, or Christmas ones, so I am quick to call out the ones that follow the formula. However, if you are not a regular viewer of this genre, this is probably one of the more enjoyable ones. The main cast is good and there are some good dialogue lines.
