The latest update on FBIseason 8 hints that Scola is getting a new partner, as a familiar face joins the cast. Since the departure of Katherine Renee Kane early in season 7, with Special Agent Tiffany Wallace stepping away from the job, FBI has been in a state of flux. FBI Season 7, Episode 4, "Doubted" is a surprisingly underwhelming episode of the CBS show, but the surprise wears off when one learns the circumstances around it. The installment is the debut of National Treasure: Edge of History star Lisette Olivera, who was cast to fill the vacancy created when Katherine Renee Kane left the series. As such, "Doubted" is truly constructed around Olivera's character Sydney "Syd" Ortiz and everyone else feels like they're just along for the ride. But then there's a catch that makes it even more complicated.

"Doubted" begins when Sydney's sister Melanie Ortiz is attacked by a stranger in her apartment. Dissatisfied with the police response, Sydney convinces Isobel Castille to make it an FBI case, and naturally uncovers a much larger crime.

One character on the CBS procedural FBI will be once again without a partner, as Deadline reports Lisette Olivera is leaving the show - before her character even debuts on the series. Oliveras character was originally supposed to be a new partner for Special Agent Stuart Scola, played by John Boyd.

Olivera has filmed a handful of episodes of the hit series and will first be seen in Episode 4 of the current seventh season of FBI as a character named Syd Ortiz. That episode is set to air on Nov. 12. Ortiz is a trained Behavioral Analysis Unit Agent with the criminal division of the New York office of the FBI.

The episodes featuring Olivera are expected to air as previously planned.

Lisette Olivera, who was added to the cast as a new series regular for Season 7 this past summer, is leaving the hit CBS procedural after filming a handful of episodes, Deadline has learned. They are expected to air as planned.

Olivera plays Syd Ortiz, a trained Behavioral Analysis Unit Agent who joins FBI’s New York field office criminal division. She has not made her on-screen debut yet; the character will be introduced in Episode 4 airing Nov. 12, I hear.

Ortiz was designed to be a new partner for John Boyd’s Scola, succeeding Katherine Rebee Kane’s Tiffany Wallace who departed in the Season 7 premiere. Since then, Scola has been trying out partners, going through a revolving door of hopefuls. Ortiz will now join the list of temps, departing after a brief trial period.

The first two entries in the National Treasure feature film franchise are headed to Hulu as their new streaming home.

Per Hulu, both the 2004 original National Treasure and its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, are slated to make the jump to the streaming giant on November 1. Both films are joining a whole host of other movies and TV shows that will be available on Hulu beginning that same day, giving fans plenty to look forward to ahead of the holiday season.

I've been waiting over 15 years for a third National Treasure movie, but National Treasure: Edge of History was a good addition to the original films' universe. Airing from 2022 to 2023, National Treasure: Edge of History was a television continuation of the National Treasure franchise made famous by lead actor Nicolas Cage. Instead of Cage, the show follows a young woman (Lisette Olivera) whose love of puzzle-solving gets her and her friends involved in a dangerous hunt for history's long-lost treasure. Though he doesn't appear in the show, National Treasure: Edge of History honors Cage with some Easter eggs.

While National Treasure: Edge of History had mixed reviews, I thought it was able to accomplish what it aimed to do. It honored the original series, expanded on the lore from the films, and introduced new and engaging plotlines. Unfortunately, National Treasure: Edge of History was canceled after only one season, so National Treasure 3...

Olivera reportedly will be joining the mix as Syd, a Behavior Analysis Unit agent who gets rotated onto Jubal’s team.

Lisette Olivera has been cast in Season 7 of “FBI” as a behavioral analysis unit agent named Syd.

Olivera is best known for starring in “National Treasure: Edge of History,” which ran on Disney+ for one season from 2022 to 2023 and was set in the universe of the “National Treasure” film franchise. She played Jess Valenzuela, who learns that her late father was a treasure protector. Olivera’s other credits include roles in the 2021 IFC film “We Need to Do Something” and Season 4 of the webseries “Total Eclipse” in 2019.
