This is one of the worst films (if you wanna call it that) I have ever seen in my life. As long as you have the tiniest respect for the human struggle for freedom and basic rights, you will not be able to stand how far it goes to slander prisoners and their families in some of the most atrocious ways perceivable, at least as far as Palestinians are concerned. You will also notice they made sure the contrived feelings and tawdry drama are pumped into every scene to ingratiate this work with a wider, mostly unaware, base.
It is beyond me how this debacle can be nominated for any award besides worst film of the year.

Some people make movies in the name of supporting Palestinians struggle under occupation, to make the movie go viral or to get nominations they lie, bend the truth, or deform the reality, the result is a sick movie that harm the just case of Palestinians and hurt the people who are already suffering the consequences of occupation instead of delivering their voice to the world with truth. This is one of the worst.

This movie tries to implant wrong thoughts and assumptions about the Palestinians who are born through this way considering them coming from Israeli Soldiers not the Palestinians who are imprisoned in the Israeli prisons which lead to trust issues between the Palestinians as a community.

This film has suffered a vicious campaign to drop its rating because it has been sorely misinterpreted by many as offensive to Palestinian Detainees. In the last week, a group of social media activists have taken it upon themselves to organise a pan-Arab/worldwide campaign to stop the film from being screened in movie Theaters in Jordan and else where, after it had been successfully screened in the Venice Film Festival , Katharge film festival Tunisia and even in Palestine, but after its screening at the Karama film festival in Amman, Jordan, it was accused on gravely undermining the strife of Palestinian political detainees in Israeli prisons, by addressing a very sensitive topic (the smuggling of Detainees sperms to make in vitro babies as a show of resistance to the occupation. The strange thing that most of the people attacking the film never even saw it. But I did see it, and I say in good conscience as a patriot that the film's intent is the absolute opposite. And it is a superbly made piece of art and drama that deserves to be watched.. Don't take my word for it.. testament to how gripping and worthy the film is, is the fact that it was chosen as the official selection by Jordan for the 2022 Academy Awards! (yes! The Oscars!) but after this controversy, it has been pulled.
The low rating on IMDB is the result of the call by the anit-Amira campaign organisers for people to go onto IMDB and give it a zero rating.
The film won three awards in the Venice Film festival and received a 7-minute standing ovation. So how it can be rated 1.6, is truly suspicious. Even more suspicious is how it can have 7.5k ratings, when it has not been released in movie theaters yet and only screened in 3 or 4 film festivals (it was recently pulled out of the Red Sea Film festival in Saudi Arabic by its filmmaker and producers out of respect for the Palestinian Detainees and consideration for their feelings. The Film's writer and director, Mohammed Diab issued a statement trying to clarify his honest intent at actually shedding light on the Palestinian strife and is working on trying to request a special screening and dialogue with the Detainees and their families for them to see for themselves that the film that has been severely misjudged and misconstrued and judge for themselves.
As someone who DID watch the film, I can say this: Amira is a heart-wrenching tale of a young Palestinian girl who grows up dreaming of going off on wonderful adventures with her father, whom she never ever had the chance to touch except from behind the prison glass... and probably never will, as he is a political detainee.
When the shocking revelation that the man she has idolised her entire life is not her biological father happens, after her parents decide to try and have another baby by attempting once again to smuggle his sperm out of the Israeli prison, (which is considered a form of resistance by Palestinians, stating that you cannot stop us from procreating, and making more Palestinians, even if we are behind bars) , Amira's world is turned upside down, and she begins the quest to find who her biological father is, and how that could be. This twist is heightened even more when the revelation of who her true father is happens... at which time Amira decides to take matters into her own hands to clear her name and her mother's name.
Mohammed Diab's gripping story line and brilliant filmmaking skill is world-class, as is evident from the fact that he went on to be the first Arabic director chosen to direct a Marvel movie, and the strong message about how devastating to Palestinian life the Israeli occupation is, the use of sound - and lack of it - the tension, the performance of all the A-list cast of mostly Palestinian actors... make this film a must-watch.
Forget the unrealistic rating, based on a wrongful campaign. Unfortunately now it has been pulled from every where, let's hope reason prevails and it gets to play again. If it does, make sure to go watch it.... and bring along lots of tissues.

Very bad movie don't watch it, stupid movie.
The story is just a distortion of the real heroes.
Don't let this movie succeed because it really isn't worth it.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS
The director is Egyptian, and is well known.
NOT Palestinian!
The movie is compelling and does not involve any politics whatsoever!
This is why it won so many awards, and deservatively so.
To say anything else is just false. It is just a MOVIE, not a documentary.
Even so, it is being attacked by radicals who wish to represent themselves as victims, while gaining much support. Lies and misinformation are unfortunate.
However, none who have given bad comments have seen the movie nor understands the director's point of view.
We all have freedom of expression and art is one in which we truly appreciate.
On the opposite end, they want to deny and mischaracterize the subject because it may be forbidden. (Yet they do it anyway.)
I give this movie 10 stars for the director, the actors and the storyline.
True or false, it is just a movie.
If you don't like it, watch something else!

In the first half, I thought it was a family ethics play. Later, I found that there was a compassionate social observation and chose a worrying topic. Through the experience of a young girl, a group of marginalized groups that are easy to be ignored are connected. The story is very wonderful and the entry point is also very good. Although some bridges in the second half are a little stiff in order to create drama, it is still a good work worthy of attention.

Amira is a highly contrived, ridiculous melodrama seeping with endless implausible details that rob the story of any credibility it may have had. The biggest crime of the film though is its portrayal of Palestinian society.

It's disgusting and fake all facts regarding people who spend their entire lives in jail without any charges just because they love their land.
And once they try to have kids in a very restricted dangerous conditions the movie maker they came with fake stories against them and support their enemy.
Our prisoners will be above the sky and no one can fake the fact of our life.
Remove this movie.

It distorts the image of the heroic prisoners, destroys the morale of their families. This act is a disgrace to Arab drama.

Amira 2021 delves into a harsh reality, shedding light on the lives of children born through smuggling, offering a poignant portrayal of their struggles. The film authentically mirrors the complexities of Israeli-Palestinian interactions, capturing the raw emotions and challenges faced by both sides. With a compelling narrative, it skillfully navigates the delicate nuances of this socio-political landscape. The cinematography immerses viewers in the harsh truths, creating a visceral experience. Amira 2021 is more than a movie; it's a powerful commentary on the human condition and the impact of geopolitical dynamics on innocent lives. A thought-provoking and emotionally resonant cinematic achievement.

I have never been interested in films in the drama category except for few ones. This movie is the most realistic drama film which I ever watched in my entire life. I watch movie a lot. It wanted to represent realistically a Palestinian family life. The thing is that it is getting bad review for some bold topic, but not representation visually. If you are a movie lover you will enjoy it. And I really paused each sentence to read the subtitle, it was this interesting. I was never bored, usually I skip 90% of drama films. Regardless your race, religion you will never regret spending time on watching this movie.

This movie taking about something is very holy and Resistance to the occupier, so that it appears deceitful and lies and reduces its importance, but rather works to distort and falsify the truth.

This doesn't have any thing to do with reality. The idea is sick and disgusting, this shouldn't be even classified as movie. Don't waste your time watching that nonsense. I rate it 1 star although it deserves 0.

This movie is disgusting. I totally do not recommend watching this or believing that the scenario of the movie would ever happen. It is a fake story over a very sensitive case that can actually effect many people in a bad way especially the Palestinian prisoners. Please do not watch or support.

Bad movie with bad actors who don't know anything about movies and acting! The story of this movie is very bad and the way it is presented is even worse. I advise the movie cast to leave this industry and find anything else to do. You are not meant to be here.

This shameful movie is a disgrace to all Palestinian freedom prisoners and to the entirety of the Palestinian struggle and story..
It's truly infuriating to see a bunch of greedy lowlifes trying to bank of the suffering of every Palestinian family.
Our world is full of cowards it shouldn't be surprising anymore, but watching the depths that some degenerates will go to, to betray their people and do whatever it takes to look good in the eyes of the white man, blows my mind, seriously..

The creators of this movie and the actors are very brave and are the true heroes of the Palestinian people. Telling the truth - this IS the only way how the fight for a freedom is done. Hope to see much more movies like this in the future.

I was shocked by the silly plot, the least I can describe as silly, while in fact it's much worse than that, the plot of this movie is so disrespectful to the Palestinian prisoners in israeli prisons. Worst movie in the history of cinema. Shame on you. Wouldn't recommend this movie at all. WASTE OF TIME. The whole cast and producers and directors proved to have a very low IQ, I'd say; waaaay below the average, since you literally need few IQ points to understand that this movie's whole goal is to distort facts and frustrate the strong free people who are resisting the israeli occupation in every creative way.
