Inhuman Resources: Eric Cantona plays a former HR Manager now reduced to taking jobs where he's exploited, he headbutts a manager who kicks him but he gets into trouble. Cantona headbutts a lot of people in this series. He's offered a job where he'll be an interrogator in a false hostage situation. then things begin to jump the shark. Some great episodes - 9/10; overall 8/10. On Netflix.

I came across this on Netflix and I wasn't very convinced to watch but featuring Cantona just was too appealing. Good plot and great acting. Not the usual easy treatment of themes. Some minor flaws will not interfere with having a great time watching.
Hope we have a season 2.
Great performance by Eric Cantona!!

And then it got unbelievable. However up to that point it was really great and had me sitting on the edge wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoy listening to people speaking in French even though I don't know what they're saying (thank God for CC) Wouldn't say this was one of the better shows I've watched on Netflix but it was entertaining for several reasons until the end.

A story about a frustrated, desperate, angry 50+ unemployed family man gone rogue, because of the current economic and financial system and their resulting unfair working conditions, by taking "unconventional "steps to help himself out of his misery.
Even though there are some flaws, I had to watch it all at once.
It's a neat french production with great actors and story development, some smart twists and a promising cliffhanger!

Not your run of the mill thriller/drama with lots of twists and turns in the plot. Cantona gives a convincing performance and has real ability and I was impressed by his contribution. The rest of the cast do a decent job, although some of them are a bit hammy at times.
All in all I was pleasantly surprised and happy to recommend this series.

Bingewatched these intense series that from the very beginning pushes the throttle and never stops. Original, with a bright script provides surprising twists and turns down to the very last minute. The core idea was to make a stern critic of wild capitalism from the standpoint of an unemployed over 50 white collar worker, a family man who facing a grim present and black future turns to desperation and employs unprecedented savage tactics to get ahead in life dragging his whole family into an unexpected nightmare. Excellent

I thought the storyline was quite entertaining, though unrealistic. As is far too common in french shows there are exaggerated characters, overplaying with big gestures and bold expressions. The characters are very stereotype lacking nuances and subtlety to make them really interesting. And there are a lot of logical glitches in the story. And the ending felt quite provoked to needing to make an opening for another season. Still an entertaining flick you can watch without needing to think and reflect upon. It is in your face, easy to follow. And the length of six episodes also an appropriate length.

Thoroughly enjoyable series that I binge watched in one day.
I started off with the dubbed version, but it was impossible watching the great Eric Cantona being dubbed with a voice that just sounded ridiculous. So I opted for the original French version, with subtitles, instead I soon got used to it.
The story itself was very well done. It started slowly but devoloped at a fast pace. There are many twists and turns along the way. In some instances you have to suspend reality, as some situations were quite hard to believe.
The ending leaves it wide open for a second series, revealing that Cantona's character is not quite as nice and as hard done by as we were led to believe.

I couldn't pass the second episode. Some things that happen in the story and people's behavior are unrealistic. It's unfortunate because the actors in general are fine.
For example the way the main character is pissed of all the time is not really explained. The thing he's asked to do in the company is also unrealistic and I didn't really understand what was supposed to happen.
Also I think the problem was I didn't really connect with the characters, they weren't very likeable.
The hacker friend is very unlikely to be able to do what he does.
I mean, the main character just seems a little stupid, for some decisions he makes.

So what can i say about this series ?
it is french, but uses the american breaking bad formula.
we have eric cantona as the hero - start as some kind of depressed loser
walter white, but turn into heisenberg character in 2 episodes.
that is one of the big problem about this show, because it took walter white couple of season to go this way. another problem that cantona range is from unlikable rude french to criminal selfish sociopath, and basically you really don't care about is character at all, unlike walter white's.
and who are the bad guys ? since we are in europe then instead the cartel we have a multi billion corporate, the probelm is that also non of them is interesting since their only purpuse is to be cantona's punch bag.
another problem is that the story is over the top and seem amusingly unreliable. this is ok in american series i guess, because americans are better in sugar coating their shows to drag you into them, even if you know how impossible the story really is, but in the french one , you become very much aware and irritated about the implausible of all this situations that cantona is going to.
for conclusion - it is watchable if you don't have nothing to do, but in the end , you just want it to be over.

Took a shot in the dark since i liked the theme. But turned out to be a hidden gem. Super acting, fast paced and realistic to the core. Must watch

Big corporations do a lot of good work, in terms of their product or service, the living they provide for loads of people, and also charitable contributions. You don't hear much about the good works of the one depicted here. Just that it's run by sadists with no conscience.
Hence capitalism sucks. Ok. Thank you French film makers for the memo.
I've never seen any of these actors before. But this ex soccer pro who played the lead role was terrific. He perfected a look of intensity, desperation, anguish, and concern. The supporting actors were great too. Totally natural acting.
The premise is a lot to accept. That a corporation would go to extreme lengths to test the mettle of its managers, and that a fairly ordinary man could figure out how to become such a formidable rival.
But perhaps the whole point is that he is not an ordinary man. He is very resourceful, a deep thinker and feeler, and possessing reserves of strength. But regarding his perpetual unemployment and that of his clever friend, perhaps they should shave their gray beards, lose some weight, and get haircuts. Or start a business, instead of trying to find a job.
There is never a dull moment. With only six episodes, they had to move the plot along quickly. I was not familiar with the procedures of French jurisprudence. I found it interesting and fresh. To a French person, that element would not exist.
The English dubbing is good.
What made the whole thing unique, was the way in which a desperate man is able to rationalize his bad behavior, and still wind up a hero that you root for. I liked him and rooted for him. So they won me over.

I actually watched it after I read all the reviews about it because of my hesitation but now I was impressed. It has a very unique plot and Contona has done his job perfectly. Cannot wait for the second season.

The premise and storyline are completely bonkers and not grounded in anyway to reality. Beyond far fetched . If you can put that aside and the dubbing ( Which seems to be the same person providing terrible voice dubbing in all foreign movies ) . Something entertaining in waiting to see what will make Cantonas character snap . Entertaining Nonsense .

This disturbed me more than what I would have expected. I binged watch the whole series. Eric delivers a very tense performance. I was in his shoes from the beginning which I didn't want to be.

Eric Cantona holds a good cast together with a great performance but the dubbing really distracts from it. The plot is a bit wild but the cast as a whole make it believable. It's just the dubbing - I really prefer to watch foreign language shows in the original language. Worth a watch if you can find it without the dubbing.

Every show requires the suspension of belief, but I struggled with this one, giving up half-way through the second episode. The premise of the show is quite contrived. The test is frankly preposterous. The script is written by someone who's never worked in an office. The main character is not an HR manager. And he's not just someone who is desperate. He's a lunatic. Apparently, ageism is rampant in French society, despite progressive labour laws. But the lengths to which the main character will go to secure a job are bizarre - cloak and dagger research, terror training and robbing a pregnant woman - and the ease at which he does it is just not believable. Even his wife is a convenient source of corporate espionage. While I love the theme of an over-the-hill underdog proving himself against younger, more qualified competitors, it should be part of a script composed with the maturity, wisdom and class that is part and parcel of being over-the-hill. This was not.

Must be my day to pick out shows that are too similar to soap operas which I don't watch, don't want to. I really enjoy foreign movies/TV Series, but my favorite source is Indian Cinema in any of the many languages. I just reviewed a Turkish TV series with the same criticism I'm giving this French series - they remind me of American soap operas.
There's a lot to enjoy about movies and TV series from paces other than USA ore Hollyweird. Some countries still have writers who use the language of their country to beautifully describe emotions, actions, or other items instead of generously sprinkling a dialogue with profanities. There are also very talented and interesting stars who don't seem to consent to exposing the audience to them sitting on a toilet (what is that all about anyway? It's pretty standard that we're all doing it once or more a day, so why would anyone find it entertaining? I quite like my privacy and appreciate others who keep such things private. I'm not shocked, scared or excited by such scenes; I just don't find them entertaining.)
I especially enjoy learning about other cultures, listening to the languages, and watching beautiful scenery that I've not had the opportunity to see in person. Unfortunately, I do not enjoy and am annoyed by high drama or soap opera type exaggerated emotions. Made it partway through E04, but that was all.
