Warning! Spoilers for Marvel's Star Wars ahead!

Star Warshas officially entered its sequel era, but the next adventure for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo is set to bridge the gap between the Prequel and Original Trilogies, by putting the heroes in Clone Trooper armor, and forcing them to face off against dangerous relics of the past: Confederate battle droids.

Marvel just dropped the official cover art for Star Wars #6, written by Alex Segura, with interior art by Philo Noto, and it features Han, Luke, and their ally Beilert Valance rocking Clone Trooper armor, and wielding Clone War-era blaster rifles.

The synopsis for the issue, meanwhile, promises the protagonists will "face off against a swarm of Clone War-era threats!"

Image
If you're like me, you've been sitting on the edge of your seat for any release date/pre-order info for the new Star Wars: Legion Starter Sets. Luckily, I have some good news! Not only are there release dates for the new starter sets, but they're available for pre-order, as well!

The Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire starter sets will be released first, with both of them releasing on September 19 this year. The Separatist Alliance and Galactic Republic starter sets will release a little over a month later on November 7.

While it was currently reported that they'd cost $95, their price has been increased to $99.99, which honestly is pretty fair for a starter set, especially since other wargames starter sets cost almost double that.

Every hidden Star Wars artifact in Luthen Rael’s gallery in Andor (that we know of)
Image
If there’s one thing Andor does better than any other Star Wars show, it’s world-building. Nowhere is that more obvious than in Luthen Rael’s gallery, the Coruscant antique shop that’s a front for the rebels, and also serves as one of the most lore-packed locations in the franchise. The Rebellion might be brewing behind the scenes, but up front it’s pure fan service. There are relics and references that span the entire Star Wars timeline, from the Old Republic to the Clone Wars to Jedi: Fallen Order.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy has openly admitted that these details aren’t always in the script. It's the crew, especially the art team, who slyly smuggle them in. He told GamesRadar, “They sneak that s*** in,” and it’s fantastic that they do. Because in Andor, even the background tells a story.

This is your definitive guide to every...

Netflix’s Brick Cast And Characters Guide
Image
Netflix’s German sci-fi survival thriller, Brick, is a fine example of a constrained setting story that heavily depends on the performances of the cast to fully capture atmospheric dread and anxiety. Showing how survival drive affects individuals to differing extents, Brick ramps up the stakes and builds up narrative tension. While there might be mixed opinions regarding whether the ending delivered as strongly, there is no argument regarding the dedication of the involved cast and crew. A special mention should be made about the production design, as the settings act as a character as well.

Tim Played by Matthias Schweighofer

German actor/director Matthias Schweighofer has been active in both the silver screen and small screen scenes since the late 90s. Over the years he has built a solid profile with his direction in a number of comedy movies and acting performance in ventures like The Red Baron, Valkyrie,...

Purity Ring Announce New Album, 2025 Tour Dates
Image
Purity Ring, the Canadian synthpop duo of Corin Roddick and Megan James, has announced their first album in five years. The eponymous release will arrive on September 26th via the duo’s label the fellowship. What’s more, the duo has announced a headlining North American tour occurring later this fall, and released the single “place of my own.” Listen to the new song below.

Purity Ring was inspired by video games Final Fantasy X and NieR: Automata while making their self-titled fourth record. The concept album aims to emulate an accompanying soundtrack for a role-playing game, with two digital avatars of the duo setting off on a “journey to build a kinder world amid the ruins of a broken one,” according to press materials.

New single “place of my own” follows the two-part single “many lives” and “part ii.” “This is one of those songs that came into being with ease and immediacy,...

‘Jimmy Jaguar’ Review: An Atypical Hungarian Horror Flick That’s More Provocative Than Frightening
Image
Hungarian auteur Bence Fliegauf is about as far from the mainstream as you can get, although he has tried his hand at various Hollywood genres — including the 2010 English-language sci-fi flick Womb, which starred Eva Green and Lesley Manville. But his eclectic range of movies are often dark and difficult to classify, which may explain why he’s been a regular on the festival circuit for nearly two decades without ever getting much play in theaters.

The director’s latest feature, Jimmy Jaguar, is another brooding head-scratcher, one that’s equal parts fascinating and frustrating. On paper, it could be pitched as a Hungarian Blair Witch Project meets Insidious, using a faux-documentary device to explore a case of demonic possession among a group of outsiders living in the countryside. But it doesn’t include a single jump scare, killing scene or drop of blood, and never manages to frighten the viewer.

12 Best Matt Smith Movies And TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Matt Smith feels like a mess of contradictions. He often comes across as charming and even a little bit goofy, but can also imbue his work with a surprising amount of menace. He's excellent at picking television series to work on, but has appeared in bomb after bomb on the big screen. So what can we make of this actor who seems to be made up of so many different parts?

An aspiring football player, Smith made the switch the acting after an injury sidelined his athletic career. After a string of small roles on television, he landed what would become his big break playing the Doctor on "Doctor Who." Since then, he's taken on a variety of different roles, sometimes the hero and sometimes the villain (and often somewhere in between), appearing in both film and television. And although we're all painfully aware of some of his worst films,...

Image
Purity Ring, the Canadian synthpop duo of Corin Roddick and Megan James, are back with their first new songs in two years. Listen to the two-part single “many lives” and “part ii” below.

The two new songs have been released via the fellowship, Purity Ring’s independent imprint. “many lives” features drum and bass elements alongside James’ ghostly vocals, with “part ii” serving as an outro complete with an ethereal choir, delicately plucked guitar, and glowing synths.

The music video was directed by Mike Sunday, features two avatar renderings of Roddick and James preparing for a hero’s quest. The video appears to take inspiration from games like Final Fantasy X and NieR: Automata, per an accompanying press release.

“In a lot of ways, ‘many lives’ and ‘part ii’ is the epicenter of things we’ve been working on recently,” the duo shared. “It’s like the sun we’ve...

This Unsettling Sci-Fi Movie With Matt Smith and Eva Green Will Make You Rethink Your Relationship With Your Mother
Image
Over the years, the media has peddled some pretty weird love stories, but then there’s Womb — a movie that takes devotion to the most unsettling level. Picture this. A woman loses the love of her life and then decides to bring them back in the most ethically slimy way possible. That’s exactly whatEva Green’s Rebecca does after her childhood sweetheart, Thomas (Matt Smith), suddenly dies. But here’s where things take a turn for the grotesque — she doesn’t just grieve him or buy a Ouija board, she ends up cloning him, carrying him to term and raising him as her son. If that doesn’t already sound like an ethical and psychological minefield, there’s more.

Image
Uncork’d Entertainment is set to release Womb, a gripping female-directed horror-thriller inspired by true events, on Digital and On Demand starting February 11th.

Womb delves into every woman’s worst nightmare: the terror of fetal abduction. The film not only offers a chilling portrayal of this rarely explored subject but also provides a deep understanding of the twisted motivations and dark justifications of the perpetrators involved.

Beautiful, pregnant and a recovering addict, 22-year-old Hailey heads to a remote cabin to meet her soon to be sister-in-law. What starts out as a beautiful, quiet weekend turns into pure terror when she becomes the prey of a deranged hunter obsessed with abducting her full-term fetus.

Directed by Bridget Smith and written and produced by Mike Walsh of Philly Born Films, Womb features a powerful lead performance by Taylor Hanks (The Giant) alongside Myles Clohessy (FBI: Most Wanted) and Ellen Adair (Law and...

Critics Hated This 28-Year-Old Gangster Movie, But Its 2 Secret Endings Would've Made It Much Worse
Image
The crime thriller, Suicide Kings, released in 1997 to mixed reviews and a poor performance at the box office. Blending dark comedy, suspense, and gangster tropes, the film failed to connect with mainstream audiences and drew unfavorable comparisons to the work of Quentin Tarantino. Nearly three decades later, the movie has managed to develop a cult following among fans who think the story was underrated, but Suicide Kings has generallybeen forgotten. Of course, the film's fate could have been far worse if the producers had concluded the narrative with either of the two alternate endings.

Despite the arguable problems with the plot, Suicide Kings did wrap things up with a satisfying and thematically appropriate climax. Former mob boss Charlie Barret, with his henchman Lono, tracks down Max and Elise who, after betraying their friends, had absconded with his money. Confronting them on a boat, he offers some degree of sympathy for...

Matt Smith's 10 Best Movies And TV Shows
Image
The best Matt Smith movies and TV shows highlight the Doctor Who and House of the Dragon star’s ability to bring an acute level of nuance to even the most complex roles. Born in the UK in 1982, Matt Smith first started his acting career on the stage in 2003. After appearing in plays like The History Boys in theaters in London, Smith landed his first TV role in the BBC fantasy drama The Ruby in the Smoke in 2006. The following year he starred in a leading role in the drama Party Animals, with his film career kicking off in 2010’s Womb.

However, 2010 was a significant year in Matt Smith’s career, not because of his first feature-film appearance, but because he landed the lead role in the legendary sci-fi series Doctor Who as the 11th Doctor. From there, Smith has gone from strength to strength, appearing in franchise blockbusters like...

Yuji Itadori is the protagonist of the ever-popular Jujutsu Kaisen, written by Gege Akutami. With the manga ending, its final chapter "From Now On," was released on September 29th, 2024; Yuji is one of the strongest sorcerers remaining. While many fans would argue that Yuji never had the spotlight as a protagonist, there's no argument to be had that his list of techniques makes him a protagonist worth falling in love with. Jujutsu Kaisen: 10 Most Sinister Cursed Spirits, Ranked

Humanity's negative emotions collectively spawn the manifestation of evil creatures known as cursed spirits in Jujutsu Kaisen. Cursed spirits are terrifying beings by nature, but some are far more sinister than others because of their strength, intelligence, behavior, or supernatural abilities.

The Cursed Womb Death Paintings, Sukuna's Finger Bearers, and Kenjaku's curse allies are among some of the horrifying cursed spirits introduced throughout the story. However, Yuji Itadori and his fellow sorcerers encounter curses even more fearsome than those as their epic adventure to collect Sukuna's cursed fingers unfolds.

Image
Cbr Anime Week is brought to you by Hulu Animayhem

The battle to defeat Ryomen Sukuna has raged on for over a year in the real world, and heading into Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 262, the conflict was showing no signs of stopping. However, just as Yuta Okkotsu who is now using the body of the World's Strongest Sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, as a vessel returned to the battlefield, Jujutsu Kaisen's author was forced to go on a brief hiatus because of health issues, resulting in only the first seven pages of Chapter 262 being released.

Thankfully, author Gege Akutami has since returned to writing, and Chapter 262.2 picks up right where Jujutsu Kaisen's previous battle left off. Despite the overwhelming odds he's facing, Yuta Okkotsu is proving why he's the most talented sorcerer of the younger generation and going toe-to-toe with the King of Curses, who has been forced onto the defensive as...

‘The Pod Generation’ (2023) Review: A Techno-Dystopian Tale That Almost Takes Off
Image
In a not-so-distant future where AI’s omnipresence rivals the air we breathe, director Sophie Barthes paints a thought-provoking canvas in The Pod Generation. Set in a world where technology has woven itself intricately into the fabric of life, the film spirals through the lives of Rachel (Emilia Clarke) and Alvy (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a couple torn between the allure of technology and the grip of tradition. This sci-fi flick promises a mind-bending ride but ends up feeling like a futuristic roller coaster that forgot to pick up enough speed.

The Pod Generation offers a cinematic glimpse into a world overshadowed by technological advancement. With a backdrop reminiscent of Black Mirror and the theme of pregnancy and motherhood in The Handmaid’s Tale, the movie sets the stage for a dystopian drama that sends shivers down your spine while whispering eerie truths about our society’s trajectory. AI is boss, making our...

The Pod Generation Review
Image
The central premise of writer-director Sophie Barthes' The Pod Generation is something that might only be a background detail in a different sci-fi movie: At an undetermined time in the future, people have the option of gestating babies in artificial wombs, known as "pods," rather than being pregnant and giving birth the natural way. There's potential in exploring how that option might affect society, particularly gender dynamics and the balance of power in relationships, but Barthes makes remarkably little out of it, despite centering almost the entire 110-minute movie around that single idea.

Once The Pod Generation establishes the existence of the Womb Center and the interest of career-minded main character Rachel (Emilia Clarke) in utilizing the company's services, the story doesn't progress much further or offer any surprises. Rachel works a vaguely defined job at a vaguely defined corporate monolith with a creepily ingratiating CEO (Jean-Marc Barr) who resembles Amazon's Jeff Bezos.

Walt Disney’s Pixar Eliminates 75 Jobs Including ‘Lightyear’ Execs
Chris Evans in Lightyear (2022)
Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios cut 75 positions last week, including two executives who worked on the financial disappointment “Lightyear,” Reuters reported Saturday.

Angus MacLane, director of the unsuccessful “Toy Story” spinoff and a 26-year animation veteran who was part of the creative team behind hits like “Toy Story 4” and “Coco,” was included in the cuts. Gayln Susman, a producer on the film who had been at Pixar since 1995, was also removed from her role.

A representative for Pixar didn’t immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

“Lightyear” grossed just over $226 million worldwide at the box office when it was released last June, but cost $200 million to produce.

Martinez debuted with her fantastic 2015 LP Cry Baby, a concept album about a young girl who gets kidnapped and eventually kills her captor that’s full of sparkling, self-aware tunes like “Pacify Her” and “Dollhouse.” She followed it with 2019’s K-12, as well as a feature film of the same name, building a devoted cult following in the process. Martinez has come a long way from being the hopeful teenager who made...

‘The Bad Batch’ Season 2: Mount Tantiss Explained
Image
Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 Episode 11 of The Bad Batch. The Bad Batch’s last week's episode “Metamorphosis” finally returned to the mysterious Imperial base from the final moments of the first season. Throughout the episode, we learn that the Imperial scientists on the base are working on some mysterious cloning project. They’re also attempting to coerce Nala Se (Gwendoline Yeo) into working on some mysterious project, one that likely involves cloned Zillo Beasts like the one that Clone Force 99 encountered during the episode. But most importantly, the show finally gave us a name for this facility, and it has a lot of implications for not just The Bad Batch but for The Mandalorian and the upcoming Ahsoka show as well.

“The Mines of Mandalore” may be the most consequential episode of The Mandalorian released yet. No one expected Din and Grogu would get to the planet of the Mandalorians so soon after last week’s side quests, but season 3 decides to deliver the goods in its second episode, including a moment fans have been waiting for since Din received his new mission in The Book of Boba Fett.

Navigating Mandalore’s wastelands is anything but an easy task for our heroes, as they soon discover many dangers await them in what remains of Sundari. Along the way, the duo encounters many easter eggs and references to other parts of the Star Wars universe. Here are all the callbacks we spotted in “The Mines of Mandalore”…

Bo-Katan's Mandalorian Royal Family History Explained
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2.The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 gives Bo-Katan Kryze a much more significant role than the premiere, with the character even mentioning her history as part of Mandalore's royal family. After the short-but-sweet scene that ended The Mandalorian season 3, episode 1, Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan had a more significant impact on the ongoing plot of The Mandalorian this time around. Episode 2 picks up where its predecessor left off, with Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and Grogu traveling to Mandalore to restore the former's status as a Child of the Watch.

However, after Din is captured by a cybernetic inhabitant of the mines of Mandalore, Grogu seeks out the aid of Bo-Katan Kryze. Bo-Katan and Grogu then rescue the titular Mandalorian in the much more plot-propelled The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2, aptly titled "Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore". Towards the end of the episode,...

Dooku's Nickname for Yoda Was a Warning He'd Join the Sith
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Yoda #4 Fans of Star Wars are well aware of Count Dooku’s status as a Sith during the Clone Wars era, but before he was seduced to the Dark Side, Dooku was a Jedi himself–one of the best, in fact–and one of the warning signs of his proverbial fall from grace was hidden in plain sight within something as seemingly innocuous as a nickname for Yoda.

In Star Wars: Yoda #4 by Jody Houser and Luke Ross, readers are shown the very day that Yoda asked Count Dooku to become a teacher and train the next generation of Jedi. While Yoda does cite Dooku’s unarguable skills in the ways of the Force, Yoda’s private reason for asking Dooku to teach is that Yoda knows Count Dooku is growing increasingly obsessed with the future–so, Yoda gave him the chance to help forge it.

6 War Crimes The Jedi Committed In The Clone Wars
Image
Although the Jedi were the heroic leaders of the Republic's clone forces during Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it doesn't change the fact that several episodes of the animated series saw the guardians of peace and justice committing war crimes across the galaxy. Ranging from excessive violence and inhumane tactics to ignoring the neutrality of independent worlds, the Jedi committed several typically heinous acts that would have made them war criminals if held to real-life laws and standards.

While it's unknown what the exact rules of engagement were for the Republic or Separatists during the Clone Wars, a core tenant for the Jedi was the mandate that "a Jedi uses the Force and lightsaber only for defense, never for attack." However, the Jedi Order's willingness to deviate from that core concept proves just how compromised they became before their demise at the end of the war with Emperor Palpatine's...

Darth Maul Almost Saved The Galaxy From Darth Vader... Twice!
Image
While this would not necessarily have been a better Star Wars timeline, Darth Maul almost prevented Darth Vader from being created twice. Introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Maul could have been Star Wars’ new Darth Vader going by how impactful his first appearance was. However, with Episode I killing off Maul right away, it was up to The Clone Wars to better develop the villain and make him more than Palpatine’s pawn.

Darth Maul and Darth Vader never met in the Star Wars canon, although Maul and Anakin Skywalker were heavily involved in key events of the Clone Wars. That includes the Siege of Mandalore, in which Anakin would have participated had it not been for the Chancellor’s kidnapping. But their story began years before that, Darth Maul and Anakin’s paths briefly crossed in Tatooine and later in Naboo.

Katee Sackhoff Teases Potential Of Bo-Katan & Ahsoka Crossing Paths In The Mandalorian
Image
Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan in both the Star Wars animated shows and the live-action productions, teases whether Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano will cross paths in The Mandalorian season 3. One of the many Star Wars characters who made the jump from animation to live-action, Bo-Katan debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has since become an essential part of Star Wars’ Mandalore stories. After appearing in live-action in The Mandalorian season 2, played by Katee Sackhoff, Bo-Katan now returns in The Mandalorian season 3.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Sackhoff suggested a live-action crossover between Bo-Katan and Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano is entirely possible within the world of The Mandalorian, pointing to Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau's love for Clone Wars-related crossovers.

Screen Rant: Last season, Bo-Katan pointed Mando to Ahsoka. This seems to indicate that the two still have a bond. Will we see more of that play...

Star Wars' 10 Biggest Multimedia Projects (& Why They're So Important)
Image
Star Wars has had numerous multimedia projects over the years, with 10 being the most important in the franchise's history. Even before the release of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, Star Wars was already expanding through tie-in media, starting with Alan Dean Foster's 1978 novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye. After the original trilogy's conclusion, Star Wars expanded to full-scale multimedia projects, telling larger stories across every kind of platform. As exciting as Disney's expansion of Star Wars through interconnected TV shows has been, it's important to recognize the biggest efforts that kept the franchise alive outside the movies.

Multimedia projects have helped Star Wars evolve into a trailblazing transmedia franchise, pushing the overall narrative to transcend any one form of media. Starting with the release of Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire in 1991, Lucasfilm decided that this would be a key component of future books, with the events of...

Star Wars' Latest Order 66 Survivor Has A Tragic Destiny
Image
Star Wars: The Bad Batch has introduced vital background on how the Empire planted its roots throughout the galaxy, but also takes time to highlight previously untold stories of Jedi survivors of Order 66. The Bad Batch season 2, episode 6 “Tribe” reintroduced the Wookiee Jedi Padawan Gungi, initially scared and in droid captivity. Instead of the fun and inventive youngling last seen in The Clone Wars season 5, the Wookie was forced to mature quickly and adapt to the ways of his people to avoid a life on the run.

Though Clone Force 99 may have helped Gungi escape the Empire for the moment, the odds are not in the Padawan’s favor. Wookiees have long life spans, with Chewbacca being over 230 years old when the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker take place. In terms of longevity, Gungi could live well past the Rebellion, New Republic, and First Order and still...

Star Wars Reveals Final Fate Of Major Clone Wars Villains
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode 10

The final fate of major villains from Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been further confirmed in the Star Wars galaxy. Following the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire from the ashes of the Republic, Emperor Palpatine dispatched his new apprentice Darth Vader to wipe out the Separatist leaders who'd been hiding on the world of Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. However, The Bad Batch spin-off series from The Clone Wars has revealed new insights into what became of one of the core Separatist factions.

In Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 10, the struggling Clone Force 99 attempts to retrieve their ship after it had been stolen on a remote mining world in the Outer Rim. Upon locating the thief and enlisting his help to reclaim their ship, the Bad Batch encounters...

Why Palpatine Really Killed Plagueis (& What It Reveals About The Sith)
Image
In keeping with Star Wars Sith traditions, Emperor Palpatine (aka Darth Sidious) killed his master, though the reason speaks to his unorthodox methodology. Palpatine initially hid his true nature as a Sith even from Anakin Skywalker, but gradually started revealing the truth in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. He recalled what he called "The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise," describing the seductive power at the Sith's disposal while also confirming the Sith Lord was killed by his apprentice (later confirmed to be Palpatine himself). However, one line of dialogue indicates Palpatine's views and practices were borderline heretical.

In Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine invites Skywalker to the opera on Coruscant, an opportunity to prey on Anakin's fears of losing Padmé by telling him about his master and his ability to keep others from dying. However, he also offers a key piece of information when Skywalker...

Star Wars' Fake Jedi Needs to Return to Canon (With a New Name)
Image
After the fall of the Jedi during Star Wars’ prequel era, there have been a few Jedi who have tried to rebuild the Order, but little did they know, there are ‘fake’ Jedi out in the galaxy who have effectively been written out of Star Wars canon, and who need to make their return.

The Jedi Order arguably reached the pinnacle of its prevalence in the galaxy during the Clone Wars when the normally-pacifistic Jedi became generals for the Republic against the separatist army. Jedi were scattered across the galaxy to maintain Republic dominance and squash any sign of insurrection–and while this was a sign of strength for the Order (whether the Jedi meant it that way or not), it also weakened them. The Jedi were split up on far-off worlds, surrounded only by their Clone Troopers–and that is what directly led to the Jedi’s downfall. Little did everyone know,...

Clone Wars' Kix Survived to the Sequel Trilogy With an Awesome New Name
Image
Many fan-favorite characters emerged from Star Wars' Clone Wars, including the clone trooper known as Kix. Following the discovery of the chip implants in the clones and the execution of Order 66, his role seemingly ended - until his true fate was revealed by Star Wars Adventures #7.

Fans of Clone Wars likely remember Kix in his role as a medic, helping his brothers stay battle ready. The short story The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku by Landry Q. Walker established that a Separatist ship, the Obrexta III, was attacked by the Republic while being delivered to Count Dooku. The ship goes down on the planet Ponemah, left for many years - with Kix aboard, 'sleeping' in prolonged stasis. The ship - and the clone trooper - are found decades later by Sidon Ithano and his pirate crew, who Kix subsequently joins. A later comic appearance in Star...

The Mandalorian Season 3: What You Need To Know About Mandalore
Image
Din Djarin will journey to Mandalore in The Mandalorian season 3, further linking the live-action Star Wars series to the franchise’s animated shows. The Mandalorians have been a popular element of the Star Wars mythos since their storied history was first hinted at by the Legends-era novels and comics of the 1980s, which provided fascinating details for Boba Fett and his iconic suit of armor. Expanded Universe material further built on the Mandalorians in later years, but the lore was retconned by Star Wars: The Clone Wars and other official continuity stories. The new ways of the Mandalorians will continue to play out in The Mandalorian season 3.

The Clone Wars, despite debuting during the Legends-era of the Star Wars franchise, knowingly ignored and rewrote Star Wars lore on a regular basis. Series showrunner Dave Filoni directly stated that he did not consider it part of the old Expanded Universe, making...

Nobody Actually Won Star Wars' Clone Wars At All
Image
The Clone Wars raged across the Star Wars galaxy for over three years, and nobody could claim victory in the end despite the struggle of all parties involved. The Jedi served the Republic in their fight against Count Dooku's Separatists, with Palpatine manipulating both sides throughout the conflict. The war officially ended when Obi-Wan Kenobi defeated General Grievous, and Palpatine seized the opportunity to destroy the Jedi Order and declare that the Republic was now an Empire. While different parties may have succeeded in achieving specific goals, this doesn't mean that anybody really won the Clone Wars.

The fact neither side really triumphed at the end of the Clone Wars sets the Star Wars prequel trilogy apart from other war stories. Most conflicts, both real and fictional, end with an official declaration of who won the war, and the Star Wars franchise has often followed this pattern. The original trilogy...

Star Wars Reveals Mandalorian's Coruscant Change Happened Before The Ot
Image
A major change for Coruscant coming in The Mandalorian season 3 has been revealed to be in the works prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. The capital of the galaxy underwent a significant amount of transformation over the span of 30 years due to the rise and fall of the Empire, altering the way much of society operated. The world quickly became the home of the new regime after Emperor Palpatine rose to power, leaving conditions untenable for rebellious protagonists. The situation on Coruscant following Return of the Jedi has largely gone unaddressed in the Star Wars canon.

After the Battle of Endor, Grand Vizier Mas Amedda went into hiding in the Imperial Palace, but Coruscant remained one of the few impenetrable worlds for the New Republic. The Aftermath trilogy depicts Amedda's ultimate surrender after the Empire's definitive defeat at Jakku, marking the end of the Imperial occupation of the world.

Star Wars Is Setting Up The Most Unlikely Rebel Leader
Image
Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 6.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 is slowly growing one of its characters to be a future leader in the Rebellion. Similarly to Andor, The Bad Batch has been exploring the Dark Times brought on by the Empire. After Order 66, the majority of Jedi were eradicated and were no longer there to promote peace and justice in the galaxy. The few clones who did not execute Order 66—such as Clone Force 99—were forced to run and hide to avoid being captured by the Empire. And these difficult circumstances prove to be the perfect fire from which to forge and refine a future leader in the Rebel Alliance.

Clone Force 99 seem to run from crisis to crisis, and Omega is the main reason why. In Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 5, Omega's curiosity led the team to the Kalder Trinary...

Marvel Has Retroactively Made Its '90s Clone Saga Even Worse
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #18

Marvel's Spider-Man series has seriously mishandled a classic character - and in the process, made the infamous 90s Clone Saga story even worse. Peter Parker is known for his cavalcade of clones, variants and imitators, but Ben Reilly is one of the most famous characters in Peter Parker's circle. Now, in Amazing Spider-Man #18, Ben Reilly's long journey toward becoming a hero takes a massive turn as he becomes Spider-Man's ultimate villain, undoing decades of development in a single issue.

Pressured by Marvel editorial to create an event that would rival the death of Superman (and other similar DC events), Spider-Man writers in the 90s created the Clone Saga: a convoluted story involving the return of Peter's clone from a short story in the 70s. Initially meant to last only six months, positive sales numbers and "event fever" in the 90s expanded the narrative to last nearly two years,...

Star Wars Hints At What Came Before The Jedi
Image
This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 5.Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 5 offers a tantalizing hint about the ancient races who inhabited the galaxy long before the Jedi. "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic," Obi-Wan Kenobi told Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars film. Those words solidified the sense that this galaxy was an old one, one in which heroes and villains had waged war for untold millennia.

Viewers have always been intensely curious about the history of the Star Wars galaxy. The old Star Wars Expanded Universe sated this desire, with tales of the dawn of the Jedi, the origin of the Sith, and even dark side empires predating them both. These stories were officially branded "Legends" after Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, but in every legend there is an element of truth.

Star Wars Hid A Secret Clone Force 99 Insult In The Bad Batch
Image
Order 66 has been prominent on-screen in Star Wars since the birth of the new canon, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch makes multiple references to it, including a hidden joke by Clone Force 99. Clone Force 99 felt the true brunt of Order 66 in the show's premiere episode, living through the catastrophe that wiped the Jedi and Republic out. Their tragedy did not stop the writers from leaving in an almost cruel Easter egg joke in those same episodes.

As seen in The Bad Batch, the group of modified rogue clones returns to their barracks on Kamino after however many rotations their missions take, and it is here where the writers snuck in an Easter egg. There's a sense of ironic sadness knowing what will be in the group's future and what they had just witnessed on Kaller - the instigation of the iconic Order 66, which targeted Jedi and Force-sensitives. However, the...
