Starring Elle O’Hara as the eponymous Cara – a young woman whose world is spiralling out of control. Haunted by her traumatic past, she lives with a mentally unstable roommate and struggles with a failed career as an online sex worker. Her father is unable to communicate, while her well-meaning mother offers little support. But above all, Cara is consumed by a terrifying belief that there’s a conspiracy to send her back to the harrowing institution.

With James Dreyfus, Laurence R. Harvey Michaela Longden, Julie Hannan and Johnny Vivash this jaw-dropping feature debut by writer-director Hewitt demands to be seen.

Folie à Deux is a neo-noir short film that aims to open up a discussion about men’s mental health. In this film, we follow Oliver, an overworked chef who turns to drugs and alcohol and drags his girlfriend Isabel down with him, turning a loving relationship into one of control and abuse. The short – which is a proof of concept for a feature film – comes from writer/director Naveed Mir and stars Alan Cooper, who was the lead actor in the feature film Claudia.

Scott Lyus masterfully captures a post-apocalyptic scenario where encounters with unknown monsters drive the story of Walking Against the Rain. The element of the unknown looms over the characters, Blair and Tommy, and as the story unfolds, the duo find themselves navigating a world altered by some catastrophe. A pivotal moment occurs when Blair and Tommy manage to connect with each other using a radio mic. This communication provides them with closure that has been missing from their lives. However, the danger the monsters represent remains an ever-present challenge, putting Blair and Tommy’s lives at risk in Walking Against the Rain.

Out now on VOD is Walking Against the Rain, the debut feature of director Scott Lyus that brings apocalyptic creature feature mayhem in the form of full-body practical creature effects.

Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip that introduces Tommy (Reece Douglas) as he attempts to make first contact with Blair (Sophia Eleni), but he’ll have to survive an attack from one of the film’s brand new monster creations, The Forsaken, first.

The monstrous Forsaken are brought to life via full-body practical creature effects from BIFA-winning FX designer Dan Martin (Infinity Pool).

Walking Against the Rain follows “the story of Blair and Tommy, two strangers who traverse an empty landscape in search of each other, relying only on their two soon-to-die battery-operated radio mics for communication. As they try to evade a new evil monster, they confront loss and grief and learn to trust humanity once again.”

The debut feature of director Scott Lyus, monster movie Walking Against the Rain has been acquired by Gravitas Ventures. Variety first reported the news this afternoon.

Crossroad Pictures produced Walking Against the Rain, written & directed by Lyus. Gravitas acquired North American, Australian and New Zealand rights to the film.

Look for Walking Against the Rain on VOD beginning May 23 in North America.

Global independent film distributor Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American, Australian and New Zealand rights to Scott Lyus’ debut feature, “Walking Against the Rain.”

The follows the story of Blair and Tommy, two strangers who traverse an empty landscape in search of each other, relying only on their two soon-to-die battery-operated radio mics for communication. As they try to evade a new evil monster, they confront loss and grief and learn to trust humanity once again.

“Walking Against The Rain” is written and directed by Lyus and produced in partnership with Chris Nials under their U.K. production company Crossroad Pictures.

The cast includes Sophia Eleni, Reece Douglas, Johnny Vivash, Francesca Louise White, Diane Spencer, and James Swanton. The film boasts full-body practical creature effects from BIFA-winning FX designer Dan Martin (“Infinity Pool”).

The film has had a successful festival tour, including a sold-out world premiere at Frightfest in the U.
