This is a remake of a popular series that ran for 5 or 6 seasons. I love the well developed characters. It's well executed. The visuals and atmosphere are excellent.
Four points:
1. This has a different setting and characters from the original. Go with it. 2. For many, character development translates to boring. I, for one, enjoy getting to know each character's story. 3. Different regions have different acting styles from the overacting common is Asia to the overdramatic in Latin America. Embrace the differences, people. 4. Listen to the original Spanish and follow along with subtitles. Dubbing spoils the show,
I'm looking forward to the news season(s).

This show has a great idea but just does not have the tools to make it. The idea behind the plot is a really interesting idea but the script let's it down completely. It also doesn't help that about 95% of the cast cannot act. There is also no tone to the show, one minute it's a fact teen drama and the next it's a supernatural thriller but it's as scenes were just thrown together in the edit. Having said that, it's weirdly addictive and I enjoyed it despite its many, many flaws. Side note, if you aren't gripped, don't continue because the end will not satisfy you.

I've watched the original El Internado Laguna Negra. This reboot has a good premise and promise. The issues I take with this iteration are mainly the Ines character and her storyline. This character and the plot around her drag this show down considerably. The character has an excessively blank personality even for an amnesiac. I remember the original El Internado fondly, the group in that show were all fun to watch. Only a couple of the kids are interesting in this show. I will definitely watch a second season and hope the sophomore year improves in plotting as well as the acting and characterization of Ines.

Back in 2007, El Internado Laguna Negra was a huge success in spanish television with its crazy mix of mistery, teenage drama and soap opera.
Almost 14 years later, Amazon has released a promising reboot: darker, scarier, with a higher budget, set in a boarding school for troubled teenagers next to an old monastery in the mountains. Is it worthy? Of course, it's ridiculously addictive.

It's a good show for teens with a good concept and pretty good directed and acted, but maybe too slow in some parts. You probably will finish it to know what's happening but overall is just decent

And that line is between what could have been a tight, exciting plot and what became more or less a telenovela. At the start, what we were presented with was a school that was almost a panopticon. It was clear that the pupils had no personal life at all and were under the strict control of the staff. And just a word about the school. Are we seriously expected to believe that in modern Spain child abuse on this scale is or would be allowed? Or even if it happened, no one would blow the whistle or reveal it? As the series progressed the kids got away with more and more daring escapades under the noses of their teachers. Eagle-eyed teachers who spotted the smallest absence in the first couple of episodes suddenly failed to notice the disappearance of four or five kids from their class.
There were a couple of incongruous strands that added little to the main story. What on earth was the place Manu was being held in? What was it for? Who was shooting in the woods? What did the amnesia strand add? None of these matters was explained at all.
On top of all this, in a Catholic institution, the kids were getting up to all sorts of sexual shenanigans that would barely be tolerated in a secular school, if at all.
I don't want to get into spoilers, but the ending of episode eight was absurd. This was full-blown telenovela. Completely illogical, not even a deux ex machina, but a ludicrous resolution.
I watched till the end and jumped a couple of times at shocks that came up. But there is no consistency, no real unfolding of the story in a convincing way. I'm dubious as to whether I'll watch the second season that's coming in 2022.

Can't wait for next season, strong actors, good story. Not watched the original so didn't have any preconceived ideas.
Keeps you hooked, not for younger viewers.

Let's start with the negatives. The sound balance is one of those where you need to soundproof your home if you wanna use volumes with which you can actually hear speaking and not get evicted. Also the people don't really act logically or even like humans a lot of times - something is in a script and then it's just forced to happen against the reality of situation.
The good thing is the story that, although is a teen story, isn't as bad as one could expect. The acting is ok for most parts, though I'm not as sure about the casting. Some actors/actresses don't really match their part which is slightly annoying.
All things considered it's an ok series.

Quite OK-ish start and plot setup destroyed by 8th episode, at which point the border between serious drama and telenovela is finally crossed. And then all hell breaks loose.
Too bad.
***** EDIT 01.04.2023 ******* And then the second season happens. Dear God, I am speechless... One really has to watch at least two or three whole episodes to fathom the full extent of idiocy and incompetence woven into this dreck. At some point, every new scene, no matter how short or unimportant, becomes an eye-rolling cause. This is so beyond "bad writing" that I can't find the words to really describe it. Don't be surprised if you start swearing out loud or throwing random things at TV set.
To give this idiocy one star would be a deep insult to all regular stinkers in the 1 star area, but IMDB unfortunately has no negative ratings so ...
****EDIT 17.04.2023 ****************** And then the third season happens ... God help us all.
Someone should be held criminally accountable for this targeted terrorist attack on our collective intelligence.

I had really enjoyed this show. One of the best series that I have seen produced post covid. The characters are complex, the photography is beautiful and the actors are all great. I hope we have the new season soon.

Is this originally Spanish language? If so, there is no option to select that. The English dubbing is so odd and annoying. English subtitles do not match with what they say. It is kind of throwing me off so I cannot continue.

Having watched seasons 1 and 2 I find it enjoyable to watch.
Season 1 was almost great but the last two episodes sent it back to barely tolerable.
You invest a ton of time to have very little resolved and a huge cliffhanger.
Season 2 had some really interesting concepts that they weave together.
But the love drama and flip flopping are a total joke and wasted scenes - simple no reason for it.
Like "Team America" "I will never die" moments over and over again.
Writers withholding information that people would lever do. That is way overused storytelling technique. Very lazy.
The moments of "building tension" are a joke. Those could almost all be cut.
They are invincible, Establishing a dengerious situation is enough. Cutting back 2 or three times "Oh gosh! Will they escape?!" Yes... yes they will. Get back to the story.
Or the kids sneaking through the halls - they NEVER get caught.
They can roam anywhere at anytime - keys to everything - any room - pick up guns and drugs or whatever. No problem.
After a few episodes of this you just ignore the "sneaking around" moments.
The long scenes trying to build tension are simply a waste of time.
Talking of time - they pay no attention to it.
One scene a character is overdosing - next scene (presumably 30 minutes later) they are all cleaned up and running through the woods.
So many examples to bother listing.
Just know they are invincible (of course they are) they heal as fast as needed to move the story along.
And the story IS interesting, Corporate greed, mystical legends, conflicts of identity and the standard teen trope of stupid adults underestimating the super smart kids.
Somehow it all works nicely together.
But then the most unsatisfactory endings possible.
It looked all queued up to have closure of at least one or two of the over TEN arcs we are required to track.
Even down to the last scene where they bust open two arcs almost closed.
It's just treating the audience as idiots.
They must have gotten the email renewing for a new season on the last day of shooting and lazily just decided to queue up another season of the same arcs.
Fun watch - but don't expect closure.

Not a really an Amazon Prime viewer, but I saw the trailer of this show and got me wanted to see it. So I went ahead and got my Primer and watched it.
I can say that the first episode was intriguing enough so decided to watch the other 7 later that day.
The show got into me since the plot is complex enough to make you think the entire time.
Can't wait for season 2!

I don't know how good the original series is, because I only watched Las Cumbres. But what is certain is that I really enjoyed this series, because I finished watching all three seasons in just 2 days.
For season 1 and 2 i can give 8 stars, but unfortunately for season 3 i was disappointed, so for the whole series i give this 7 stars.
I was disappointed because many characters were missing from the previous season, it really changed the feel of the series. Not only that, many characters seemed forced to change, so it was a bit confusing.
What I like about this series is how Amaia and her friends work together to solve the mystery, but in season 3 Amaia is the one who is kidnapped, so we only see stories from other characters, and what's worse is that in season 3 they seem to work individually, no longer in groups like the previous season. So the friendship in season 3 feels lacking, especially since 3 of Amaia's friends are no longer appearing here.
But overall i like this series, i don't regret watching Las Cumbres. Becasue I really like Amaia and Paul, i like the friendship in season 1 and 2, i like how the mystery of this story is shown. Definitely, i recommend this series!
P. S. Amaia Torres and Paul Uribe will be forever one of my favorite cps.

NONE of the plots have a satisfying resolve. Pacing is horrible. I admit the first 4 episodes are good, but the second half is like running on the spot and the season finale is one of the most unsatisfying in a while.

Ignore the negative reviews.
There is a lot of nitpicky reviews about this show. Since I never saw the original series I can only comment on the five episodes I have watched.
The acting is overall good and there is a foreboding that seems to pervade each scene.
The setting and filming is very atmospheric. Clearly the director has a clear vision of the setting and the story.
One thing I think that is well done and clever is that there are no bright colors only drab colors that enhance the pervading atmospheric gloom of this mysterious school.
My only quibble is that the characters while watchable are not likable - don't know if was the way they were written or the actors portraying them. - so it's hard to root for them as they seek to learn the secret about their school.
Overall, I'm gonna give this 8 stars - as each episode has been a fun watch. Watch it in Spanish with English subtitles

The pace is too slow, actors are not good at all. They don't even seem capable of creating a script that flows, they just throw random scenes. Overall, don't even bother watching this series.
