After 2nd episode it becomes predictable a bit. There was scope to make it a good series but it failed to do that. Rajat Kapoor is brilliant as well. It couldn't build up the edge of the seat aspect as we would have liked. Not a bad series but it couldn't cross the mediocre line.
Shobdo Jobdo: available on Hoichoi
An intelligently crafted psychological thriller helmed by Sourav Chakraborty is good news for Bengali cinema. The seven episodes can be binge watched without guilt as they promise total suspense and a significant concern for Saugata (Rajat Kapoor, in his first Bengali outing), an author based in the US, who is facing an existential crisis.
Often accused of plagiarism, Saugata is hurtling down a psychological collapse, plagued by hallucinations, nightmares and an onset of Alzheimer's disease. Realizing that he has started forgetting parts of his past life, he is distraught and the situation is exacerbated by the accusation of a murder in his youth, levelled by a woman only he can visualise. The situation drives him to the point of desperation and schizophrenia whilst his hapless wife Aditi (Payel Sarkar) and daughter Raka are at best, a couple of mute spectators to. A trip to the North Bengal mountains for a health break is his psychologist's prescription. Whether he will recover from the brink of disaster with or without the help of his family is the crux of Shobdo Jobdo.
Rajat Kapoor is utterly believable and convincing in the complex and rich role of the author battling multiple issues including his past. Payel Sarkar is good, but suffers from a weakly written role. Shobdo Jobdo is content rich and immensely gripping, although the climax is somewhat amateurish and prolonged. But it doesn't diminish the professional execution of the script that compels us to hold the interest until the very end.

Lots of plot twist.... great director.....great cast and their acting❤
Rajat kapoor acted really good and story was bit predicatable but yet one time watch
I have always had a soft spot for psychological thrillers and the infatuation hangs around. And, therefore, despite my premature hesitation, I decided to tune in nonetheless! So now the question is, did it deliver? Well, in parts it did.
Complex subjects like these are rarely created in the Bengali industry, hence, it would be too much to ask for a certain degree of finesse we are used to seeing elsewhere. There will always be a ton of drawbacks and inadequacies; but thankfully, they are comparatively restricted in numbers as compared to their contemporaries!
The writing is upright, nothing too fancy! And it does a respectable job in upholding the tension and a climate of uncertainty and suspense. The performances on the other hand for the most part are serviceable, except for a couple of over-the-top instances.
But what perhaps made the biggest impression on me is its technical aspects. For a Bengali show, I think, it's safe to say that, this is one of the most finely cultivated and executed thriller shows to date. If only the source material fared better, the outcome would have held more value in the end.
