Mastodon announced Friday that the band and guitarist Brent Hinds, who co-founded the Atlanta metal act a quarter-century ago, have parted ways.

2024 has been an intense year for the world of comic books. The X-Men saved the universe, Amanda Waller took over the world for a little while, and the Energon Universe continued to be a must-read storyline. Then there are the plethora of comic books like Space Ghost by David Pepose, Thundercats by Declan Shalvey, and The Displaced by Ed Brisson that are vastly underrated.

The high standard of comics this year made it difficult to rank the best comic books of the year. Instead, these are the Top 15 comic books of 2024 in no particular order.

There’s a lot to praise about Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man, but the relationship that Peter Parker has with his family sticks out more than anything because it helps shape him as a hero.

Getting any kind of present or reward from the Grim Reaper in The Sims 4 should immediately set off a few alarm bells, as some players have started to realize after receiving a recent reward. The harbinger of death is not known for cheerful, innocuous gifts, and even something as benign as a bicycle could prove to be secretly cursed in some way. Though the simulation game often has many surprises for its players, the Grim Reaper Event's bicycle provides a unique experience that may or may not have been intentional.

The Grim Reaper event in The Sims 4 is a spooky celebration that does not require players to have purchased the upcoming Life and Death expansion. By participating in the event, players earn several different Reaper's Rewards, including the Grim's Cruiser Bicycle in Week 3.

There are some actors who, no matter how shaky the film around them may be, can hold your attention and never let go. Lucky for “Bring Them Down,” it has two of the very best in Christopher Abbott (“It Comes at Night”) and Barry Keoghan (“Bird”) to hold this rather bloody mess together. Without them, there’s a good chance the whole thing would simply go to pieces as this is a thriller about two feuding families so perpetually grim it risks becoming a slog. Director Chris Andrews has made a fraught feature debut that drags you through scenes of gruesome violence multiple times over, hammering you over the head with how bleak it all is to an almost comically unsubtle degree. The saving grace of the film’s world comes in the form of its two leads who, despite all the drudgery that they must push through, create something gripping.

Exclusive: This Sunday’s BAFTA TV Awards will “celebrate and remember the power of storytelling” at a “challenging” time for the industry, according to the new chair of the 77-year-old body.

Speaking exclusively to Deadline in the days leading up to the London ceremony, Sara Putt, who replaced Krishnendu Majumdar last year, said the awards will partly act as a tonic against the bad times, allowing “a community to come together, network, and be creative and supportive of each other.”

She acknowledged that 2023 was a “challenging year for many in the industry, whether freelancers or small indies,” coming a few months after BAFTA research found one third are considering leaving.

“We [at BAFTA] have many roles to play and it is important when times are hard to celebrate and remember the power of storytelling,” Putt said.

An upcoming Spider-Man story in The Amazing Spider-Man will see Peter Parker hunting down, and potentially killing, major enemies including Kraven the Hunter... but a decade old What If? story shows the consequences of Peter killing Kraven, with the once honorable hero descending into madness and murder.

Starting in issue #32 of the current ongoing, and controversial, volume of The Amazing Spider-Man, a new 'Spider-Man's First Hunt' arc will turn Kraven into Spider-Man's prey, with the cover for the issue showing Peter in his classic all-black Spider-Man costume menacingly hanging above Kraven's head, looking like a vicious predator. A seeming homage to the 2010 'Grim Hunt' era of Amazing Spider-Man, it will be fascinating to see how far Marvel takes Peter's quest for vengeance, and if Kraven will really be murdered.

This weekend saw Disney’s upcoming film “Haunted Mansion” become the first to stage a premiere without its cast, who were all absent as part of SAG-AFTRA’s strike which began this past Friday.

With stars like Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis and Danny DeVito now among the 160,000 actors union members pulling out from film and TV productions as well as any events promoting those productions, Disney repurposed the premiere as a fan event at the Anaheim resort, with Disneyland cast members dressed as Mickey and Minnie Mouse as well as famous villains like Maleficent and Cruella De Vil appearing on the red carpet outside the famed theme park ride that inspired the film.

The names of the great RPGs are etched into the history of gaming like caricatures of a civilization’s most legendary heroes upon the walls of a great city. The incredible adventures they take us on often set a standard that many other games try to equal. For as famous as some of the greatest RPGs are, though, not every great RPG has secured its place in history. So many of the genre’s great games remain tragically underrated and overlooked.

Like the most valuable gems found at the bottom of the deepest dungeon, there are so many worthwhile RPGs out there that are waiting to be discovered. Some were buried by circumstance, while others dug their own grave in ways that feel easy to forgive when weighed against their flawed brilliance. The one thing they all have in common is that they exist off the beaten path that only the bravest adventurers dare tread.

Fans will forever remember the ‘90s and '00s as the decades when Cartoon Network churned out its most iconic shows. From Dexter’s Laboratory to The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, there was no shortage of hilarious offerings. Friday's opening weekend box office projections for "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" are now looking overly optimistic. Though previously pegged for a $35-40 million opening weekend, which already would have been underwhelming, the latest numbers indicate a debut of around $30 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Fury of the Gods" grossed $11.7 million on Friday, including the $3.4 million from Thursday previews. The first "Shazam!" movie grossed $53.5 million in its opening weekend, so this would be a major step down.

It would also be among the lowest openings for any movie in the DC Extended Universe, though mitigated somewhat by the fact that "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is on the lower end of the budget scale. The fairest comparison would probably be "Birds of Prey," which cost somewhere between $84 million and $100 million to produce and grossed $33 million over its opening weekend. Home is most certainly not where the heart is in When It Melts, the directorial debut of Belgian actor Veerle Baetens, adapted from the celebrated novel by Lize Spit. Baetens has long been a recognizable force in Belgian cinema over the past two decades, appearing in slick genre fare, like Erick Van Looy’s Loft (2008), Robin Pront’s The Ardennes (read review) and Oliver Masset-Depasse’s Mothers’ Instinct (2018), while most renowned for Felix Van Groeningen’s searing 2013 drama The Broken Circle Breakdown (read review). She’s chosen a troubling, and perhaps somewhat familiar approach in this trauma induced thriller, which features a disturbed, complex characterization deftly performed by two actors portraying the central character.…...

One of the many Daily Quests in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4 is "Collect Fireflies," tasking participants with locating and capturing the incendiary insects. Fireflies have been around since Chapter 2: Season 3, as they can be caught to create a Firefly Jar. Firefly Jars are explosive throwables that can be hurled at players or structures, torching them upon impact. Likewise, another challenge that fans receive during Fortnite's Chapter 3: Season 4 is igniting structures, a task that comes as part of the Herald Questline. Finding fire damage weaponry can be tricky considering their low drop rates, but using common Fireflies to do the job is notably easier.

Fireflies can be found at a total of eighteen locations on the Battle Royale map in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4. Moreover, multiple nodes spawn in a single location, meaning that there are likely dozens of spots on the island where players can find Fireflies. Listing...

The Pumpkin Launcher has returned to Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4 in celebration of the Halloween festivities of Fortnitemares 2022. As its name implies, it is a Rocket Launcher but uniquely designed with a glowing jack-o'-lantern head at the venture point of the cannon barrel. It comes in multiple Rarities that determine the stats and damage output of the launcher in Fortnite. For example, the Epic variant of the Pumpkin Launcher is capable of dealing 115 Damage to opponents upon impact with a 0.75 Rate of Fire. Furthermore, Structures will receive almost three times the damage, making it an excellent siege weapon against other players.

Due to its limited magazine size of 1, the Pumpkin Launcher is a challenging weapon to use in Fortnite.
