A movie about a murderer...starring a murderer. Well, at least the backers who put up the bucks to produce this turkey will probably get a return on their investments now. Funny how a little notoriety is always good for the box-office. Cool location though, that's way I gave it an extra star.

This i endured for 40 minutes and have massive regrets.. its the most boring film I have seen in a very long time, how it got past the cutting room floor amazes me...the only thing that really surprises me is all the high ratings...I am thinking maybe all the high ratings are from those involved with the film itself... The acting was poor, the story had no focus, the music was poor. And how is this listed as a horror? I've seen scarier cartoons.

steer clear of this at all costs,save your money

They are obviously being written by friends and family of the cast and crew. This movie is pure garbage! The acting from the lead and supporting cast was dreadful and the movie itself is so damn boring. No wonder none of them have moved on to bigger and better roles. What a waste of time. It doesn't even deserve 1 star but sadly we cannot leave 0 stars.

Could hardly get through the first 2 minutes, with the ridiculous background music that was excessively loud. gave up on it, scrolled through, i was right to give up.

This movie sucks. By the way, Wyn AKA Tucker Reed, is a murderer in real life. She killed her own uncle. I just watched the episode on Dateline. DONT WATCH THIS!!

Seems like it was shot as a highschool project.

I only decided to watch it cause of the case tied to it, or to one of the people in it i should say.

Despite the creators stating they had no idea lead actress was really Tucker Moore-Reed, a real life killer, who's best acting was done in delaying the case until they pled out to manslaughter, and her co-conspirator mother got off with nothing. When everyone who looks at the case will know it was a 1st degree Lie In Wait ambush, it is an interesting fact that many collectors collect for many reasons, even morbid ones.

Looks like they didn't have the ability though to release physical copies or I admit I would probably buy one just for the oddity of having it in my collection. Not to mention a couple of the guys looked pretty hot which is refreshing to see a modern movie with at least a couple guys who haven't shaved their heads and grew a dog's butt bush beard as is the latest fashion fad LMAO.

Maybe you creators should take notice of this fact...I wouldn't rent it, but I'd probably buy it as a curiosity. I mean, I suppose I believe you about not knowing, after all, she is one heck of a liar right. I'd play it up and release a batch of DVDs, I wouldn't be the only one who'd pick it up for its morbid curiosity value. (Shame on me...but I'm not..lol)

It's cute they think there was a writer, director and actors. I've been in better shows in High School in the 80's. I've never written a review before until this pile of garbage played on my TV. There are not enough drugs in the world to make this anything more than a waste of time.

And when the power in the cabin eventually after a long long wait , are cut, its hard to see whos who, and what is done.there are tons of rubbish teenage cabin horrors out there thats worse,but youre able to see what happens. newbies are welcome to try, but why stumble into a quagmire of horror when everybody else does it too?

why i say that is that the actors in this theatergroup, based up in the northwest california i guess, has talent, they have vocal capabilities for a great comedy, and if they put some slapstick and some doublespeed to it i think this could be a better success.

no it has the homemade stamp all over its face and from my behalf it is slow , dark and really stupid where the reaper drives the action. so its a 1 degraded from a 2 initially and a no recommend from the grumpy old man.

Just think of this bad acting in a police statement.

These guys filmed under 25k! Enjoyed it immensely! People should go out to see it! Support independent film!!!

I saw the low rating and couldn't believe it. It's definitely low budget. Some scenes are clunky here and there. Some of the performances are over the top. But overall, I had a great time watching it. There are some very funny scenes, lines and situations. There are also some genuinely fightening ones too. It's not going to win any awards but I would definitely recommend.

A movie about killing, employing someone who kills... I am not surprised. The entertainment industry will do whatever it can and then use whatever story of immorality it can to try and ride the wagon to fame.

However, this woman can be forgiven and can be redeemed, not by the power of cinema or man -- that will obviously just use her and her situation for fame -- but rather by the Father.

This film is a great example for us all to check our moral compasses.

I thought it was a pretty good movie all-in-all. For a $25K budget, I was impressed. No film school authority-type person here, I just happened to think it was good. I think we watched it on Amazon or something. We thought it was good, just thought we would pass on the our congratulations to all those involved with this movie. Definitely worth watching. Good job.

This movie actually got me! I wasn't able to predict the ending which is always a plus. The scenery was gorgeous, the characters likable, and the story well-written. The music gave me chills, it was stand out from other horror over done horror tracks.

In no way do I feel "From the Dark" is a masterpiece of the cinematic age; however, I do think it is an impressive film that took place contained wholly in Southern Oregon, independently funded by first-time film makers for les than $25,000. Securing locations like the Oregon Caves National Monument for example is a huge feet in of itself for an emerging new company. The passion drove this film, and for a first feature length for all of the main crew, I find it impressive and quite fantastic.

Not too mention winding up selling out their first 3 screenings and a first movie?

Yeah, sure, it's got its bumps, there are some slow parts, and really, small instances of overacting. It needs to be reminded that this is an all amateur project, a first for nearly all, super low budget, and of course, riddled with delays due to outside influences.

With that in mind, I still find it an impressively original story, funny, entertaining, and surprising - not too mention there are times the cast absolutely shines!

I came expecting a gory horror movie, and what I got was a movie that is hard to put in one specific genre. It started off spooky and intriguing, then as the characters were introduced the movie shifted into a hilarious comedy. As the climax happened it shifted into a pretty intense suspense/thriller that kept my attention to the unpredictable ending. Rating this movie based on the budget and inexperience of the film makers I would give it a 10 out of 10. Rating this movie in relation to all other movies I would give it a 7 or 8, because it is low budget and contains minor sound issues, as well as a few bumpy transitions. All in all I left the theater impressed and glad I got to see such an entertaining movie that was locally made. If I had to put From the Dark in one specific genre, it would be "rural legend".

I decided to rent this movie from Amazon after listening to the podcast "Killer Role." That being said, I knew going into it that it would be low budget and was done by first time filmmakers. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. I was also hesitant knowing the lead actress is a killer in real life. However, I thought the movie was really well done! Like others have said, the scenery was beautiful and a lot of the shots, particularly of the landscapes, were really well done. I thought I might feel creeped out watching (knowing about the real life crime the main actress committed), but I will admit she did a great job in this movie. Sure there are some cheesy lines and some spots where dialogue is hard to hear, but all in all, the movie is definitely suspenseful and I was not expecting the ending. It was better than many high budget horror films I've seen in recent years.

Being a local movie that was just under 20k, this movie blows out expectations. Local actors really pulled through in there roles while production, writing and directory roles made it feel tense but relative at the same time. Will surprise you in a lot of ways and couldn't have been done better with anyone else.

This movie turned out great. I was very impressed with the acting skills of all involved. Movie keeps you on your toes. It's all around great!!!

This movie is actually really good to be so low budget! The music and writing are great, and the acting is good as well! Recommended if you like horror indie movies!

I watched the premiere of this great local film and I was blown away! Great acting, great story line, funny, exciting... what more could you ask for? Definitely worth the watch!

I just saw this in theaters in Oregon, I have to assume the poor rating on here is tied to the controversy surrounding the lead actress(who was amazing in the movie regardless of anything else). The locations were beautiful, it was amazing to see the Oregon Caves on the big screen and such a creepy backdrop for the story. The acting was great, I had expected a straight thriller but it is so funny too. All of the characters were great but Chris and Cooper are especially fun characters, the entire theater was cracking up. The end was brutal but amazing. I already bought the movie on Amazon to watch with my friends. Will be gifting this on Christmas!!
