Because of the pandemic, the economical and political turmoil taking place in Lebanon, the production was postponed 3 times and was going to move to Egypt. However, the producers kept on pushing to shoot in Lebanon in order to contribute and encourage the filmmaking scene in the country.
Perfect Strangers marks Netflix's first branded feature film from the Middle East.
As the film was shot during lockdown, the cast and crew lived together for a whole month at the Printania Hotel in Brummana. This enabled them to get to know each other even more striking an indelible chemistry which is translated onto the screen.
It seems that some of the cast were initially uncomfortable with the swearing in the film. However, after a back and forth with the producers, they all agreed that the dialogue must be releatable reflecting how close friends actually speak with each other and break the hypocrisy of Arab screenwriting which is usually "clean".
In less than 72 hours from its release, the film reached the #1 spot on the Netflix charts in all of the Middle East territory which includes Egypt, Lebanon, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, Kuwait and surprisingly reaching the #2 spot in France.
