It's well-written, competently acted, good story, funny, what's not to like? Incredible scenery too, I don't recall any other movie shot in a place like that.
I thought I might be in for some low budget amateurish flick as I didn't recognize any of the cast, but the story kicked off, kept my interest, made me laugh, and the cast were good. Great production values. The lead girl looks vaguely familiar and I recognized her sister who is, according to the credits, Missi Pyle, although she's not listed on IMDb as of my post.
So if you like a comedy that's a little on the black side, you can do a lot worse than this.

This movie was decent. Although it had a low budget feel to it, the actors delivered very convincing roles in their characters. At first I couldn't remember Jaime King's sister, but then I realized I seen her in White Chicks, with Shawn and Marlon Wayans. With all the drama that comes with movies, this was a sure delight. In the performances, the character of the escape convict was convincing enough. I also thought the roll of the Sheriff was intense but funny. The detective that was with him, also down played his character, but they pulled it off. Every scene had its moment where you wondered what was gonna happen next. The movie was written and directed very well. I recommend it to those who like dark comedy with a hint of romance.

Will Carson (Josh Cooke) is a convict who escapes after a car crash. He finds April Rogers (Jaime King) stuffing Martin Cheeder (Daniel Roebuck) into her car trunk. Will assumed Martin to be her husband but he turns out to be blackmailing her and is still alive. That soon changes when Martin drowns himself accidentally. Things keep getting more complicated when April's husband Karl Rogers (Silas Weir Mitchell) goes home and mistakenly assumes that April is having an affair with Martin. Of course, Karl is actually cheating on April with Nola (Missi Pyle) who turns out to be April's sister. The complications do not stop as the cops try to figure exactly what's going on.
The movie needs to calm down the wacky comedy music. This could have been a good black comedy but the music keeps stepping on it. If I want to enjoy the wild black comedy, I don't want to be have a flashing sign pointing at it. Jaime King is a pretty good comedic actress and Josh Cooke isn't that bad. They are good together for the most part. I'm just not that impressed with Jim Kouf's writing or directing. He's trying too hard and not quite getting the comedy right. It's a wacky bumbling crime drama with a few moments of fun comedy.

as another reviewer stated "why have i never heard of this movie?". i'll tell you why - it's just a waste of a truly fantastic story. i was so disappointed with this film i cannot express my feelings. i jumped at this flic because the other reviewers expressed such delight. so i had to see it.
the only thing that saves this movie (with me) is the many twist and turns and surprises in the plot. but the acting, script, direction, and pacing of the film are just awful. really! in one scene it's pouring rain and in the very next scene everything is dusty bone dry - no!!! that doesn't work.
and the actors are just pitiful. it's obvious the two principle actors were chosen because they are very pretty and have tight bodies for that ludicrous opening scene in the house. the script is ho-hum, and actors delivery weak and lame.
but the plot has so many twist and unexpected turns (not all of them, some are predictable - like the explosion) that you watch and become interested.

Nothing over the top to say about this film. It's a different style comedy/romance with some funny elements and unique characters. It's basically a time waster for the afternoon as your looking to lay on the couch. The true scene stealer is the cinematography and scenery of the openness of Montana. A decent little film for young adults. 5/10

If you see it at NetFlix, it is worth watching. The production values are excellent. No big special effects eating away at the budget. No big names. No giant spiders. This is just a "what if?" film that stays interesting and delivers a laugh every couple of minutes.
It is not over the top comedy like Airplane! or Naked Gun. It is more of a bumbling, mistaken identity, he's dead, no he's not, type of humor that is never juvenile. Likable characters, even the ones we like to hate.
Some toilet humor, but not really the kind of toilet humor some films stoop to. This is high class toilet humor. It has no boring character introduction scenes at the beginning. Five minutes into the movie you have action and adventure and a giggle or two.
In the age of internet movie night, this is a very good choice. I want to watch these actors again.
This would be a good double bill choice with Bonnie and Clyde.

Coming up with 600 characters to give a simple review is sometimes a challenge, depending on the film..
For a "B" movie it's not half bad! Actually me rating this 5/10 means I enjoyed it alot. Out of the 1,700 & some movies I've rated, half of those are 4/10 ratings. I've never rated anything over 8/10. Ain't no movie that good! This movie is cute, & it's something 1 could watch on a boring day. I have watched this more than once & yeah I think I would recommend this movie to a friend, so that should tell you it's an ok-ish movie. But I will say the ending is very unrealistic.. & even though the "main" guy character was a decent choice, I'd still prefer someone cuter!

I'm not entirely sure why this movie has a less than stellar rating. I watched it on Netflix and honestly was not expecting much, but wound up being very pleasantly surprised.
The opening of the movie has such great physical comedy, I was laughing out loud. It was a really refreshing change from all the sex and fart jokes most movies have (which can totally be funny, but let's face it, are way over done and over-relied upon at this point). I grew up watching (re-runs of) I Love Lucy, so I'm a big fan of physical comedy, which just isn't used as often anymore, particularly with female characters for some reason.
What I really loved about this film was that while it was completely laugh out loud funny, it actually made me care about the characters. Most straight-up comedies (non rom-coms) don't do that. But at the same time, it wasn't so over the top that it felt like it was changing genres or anything. I just actually cared what happened to them, while of course laughing at their ridiculous predicaments.
I've seen a good number of Jaime King's films and, in my humble opinion, this is one of her best performances, both for the comedy and the softly stated drama of her character. Usually when I've seen a lot of one actor's films, it takes me out of the world and I just think of the character as the actor. That didn't happen here.
While I generally like Josh Cooke, I will say that I'm not entirely sure he was the best choice for his role. He did a good job, but something just felt off in believing he was this criminal that could go off at any moment. And, IMHO, it is necessary to believe that in this film. The plot started to get a little stale towards the end, and I think some of it could have been left out, but it moved along quickly enough that I wasn't bored, and ultimately it didn't detract enough from the film to make an impact on my overall opinion of it.
A Fork in the Road is a great movie to watch if you just want something funny, that isn't plain stupid or a stoner/slacker movie. Worth checking out!

First of all, let me clarify why this movie warrants 9/10. I did not have any expectations from this movie when I first watched it. The movie is hilarious, the scenery amazingly picturesque, and the background music helps add to the fun.
After I watched the movie, I rented it out again to watch it with my wife and she too loved it. We were laughing through the entire length of the movie. This movie does not have any of the rude humor that you see in movies nowadays.
Love it... and may watch it again in a few days.
Brilliant!

A very cool movie - with an ending that fit right in.
Now, this is of course based on simple minded cops who don't carry on to actually follow through with a real investigation.
Alan wrote a movie which had an ending fir for anybody who doesn't have to do any real police type sleuthing or investigative work and it all tied in perfectly.
Now, if they were real cops and had to do a real crime scene investigation, the story simply wouldn't exist.
That aside, for a small budget movie and some fine entertainment, this is a movie which certainly can fit the bill.
Just the right amount of dark humor and stupidity to get a good comedy mix.

Not often will you go in watching a film without expectations and coming out very pleased. A Fork in the Road starts with just that and ends with just that. Everything that happens in the movie starts because of a literal fork in the road. But what happens in-between is a classic situation comedy romp. Misunderstandings and mishaps ensue in a quirky tale of hunk's that is full of twists you won't see coming. Solid from start to finish, the leads have great chemistry and the story the centers around them is a riot with a hint of sweetness. Definitely something I'd watch again and again, because it's that enjoyable.

This movie moved well and I thought it was very funny. I found myself laughing out loud and I was watching the movie by myself. In the IMDb credits the characters Carl and April are listed with a last name of Rogers but in the movie they refer to Carl's last name as Dumas.
Not a bad movie to watch as I could watch any movie with Jamie King. I love the scenery in that part of Montana- gateway to north part of Yellowstone. Great title for the movie. The movie is easy to watch and moves on quite nicely. If you are looking for a movie where you can sit back and laugh and wonder how they are going to handle one predicament after another this movie is for you.

What's not to like in this little but big film? It's very funny. The plot is tight and cohesive, and the script and dialog are never an embarrassment to anybody involved. There are implausible events, sure, but everyone and everything is working together so well that we are willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride.
And what a ride it is! The actors appear to have a lot of fun making this, and every performance is strong. Jaime King is very appealing as the distressed damsel, kind of like a taller version of Reese Witherspoon, and she has us on her side immediately. She and costar Josh Cooke work very well together and we can feel their erotic chemistry slowly catalyze. Josh, the scruffy anti-hero, turns in a very strong comedic performance, intimating there is a lot of talent here for future leading-man roles, perhaps along the lines of Belmondo. Silas Weir Mitchell is very effective as Jaime's violent scumbag husband. His redneck rage is augmented by a loud comic percussive soundtrack that blasts forth every time he bursts into vengeful action.
Also very praiseworthy was the decision to cast Missi Pyle as Jaime King's sister. First of all, these actresses resemble each other so that they could easily be sisters. Missi is a wonderful presence on screen whenever she is cast. She is quite sexy and glamorous, but there is something strange in her glamor, something just a little bit "off," so that she seems to be almost a caricature of herself. This oddness is at the core of her appeal as a comedienne. If I see Missi's name in a film's cast of characters, it gives me additional incentive to seek that film out, and I am rarely disappointed. "A Fork in the Road" is a good example of that.
All in all, Hooray for "A Fork in the Road." I've already watched it three times, and I will watch it again in the future. Highly recommended!

I was barely three minutes into watching this film, when I said to myself, why haven't I ever heard of this movie? Skillful and energetic direction and editing, especially for such a low budget, a really dark comedic script, good pacing, fresh scenery, and enough twists and turns kept me glued, laughing and impressed all the way through. You can definitely see a bit of the Coen brothers or Spike Lee in this, although the violence is toned down—more suggestive than in your face. I read that some people thought the acting was sub-par. Not for me, although the wacky events that cause leads Josh Cooke and Jamie King to stomp around with their arms in the air in total frustration might make them appear, to some folks, to be performing over the top. But I liked that; I thought the performances fit with the tonality of the film.

Great movie overall. There's alot of what looks like happened that didn't really happen. Someone didn't do what they are being accused of doing. I can see why some people wouldn't like it. Parts of it are predictable but then the unexpected happens.
