After watching Into the Deep, I'm a little shocked that I'm not trashing this movie hard. It doesn't seem like it's for me. It has a very high-school-y vibe, like a romance drama for teen girls. It sometimes feels like a B-movie. And to top it off, it starts really slow and takes a while before anything actually happens.
And yet... I found myself enjoying it. I can't explain it. Maybe it's the good musical score that kept me intrigued. Maybe I just fell in love with the lead actress 3 seconds into her screentime. Or maybe it's actually decent.
I might've given this a slightly positive score, but I was turned off by a few character decisions and some really dumb moments later in the movie. Still, this is so much more entertaining than a lot of the boring and useless garbage I watch. (1 viewing, 3/24/2023)

Too many bad decisions and inane activity that really doesn't make sense. It needed a more coherent plot and better dialogue. I don't know. Just another bla movie. The acting isn't bad. And the lead is really nice looking in a bikini. That's about it.

Two girls and a guy out on a 'disabled' sailing yacht. Someone is mentally unstable, but who? Ok, they had a budget and it would never win any awards, but not everyone can live in a Marvel universe. I've seen so many 4 rated movies, this one should be a 6, but it falls just a hair short. I think the protagonists do an acceptable job with their characters (and yes, the guy looks a lot like his sister). I stuck with it because I did get vested enough to want to know who the sociopath was. Colorful filming, pretty people, a little nudity, sadly no sharks, but a little blood, and a Disney ending (too bad). Quite watchable.

Into the Deep features a young girl that unwillingly goes on a boat ride with a guy that she doesn't even know. However she does not want to go to shore and stay with him for a romantic little trip. After some time they find an unconscious young woman on a jet ski and shortly after the trouble begins.
The movie has lots of plot holes and just unrealistic behavior and you have no one to really root for since all of the characters are not that likeable. However there are some tense scenes and the overall acting was fine.
Another thing that the movie made good, was that it kept you guessing on whose side to be on. Other than that it was pretty average and forgettable. [5,1/10]

If you want to watch a low budget movie with characters you don't care about and a plot that is predictable... then this one is for you. If you want to watch a better "trapped on a boat" movie, watch Dead Calm or even Harpoon.

It isn't the best movie ever, but it's entertaining enough, and considering the limited setting and cast (all movie long we are on the same boat with the same three people) it's quite an achievement that they made it thrilling until the very end. I especially liked it, that up until the last say 20 minutes you keep guessing who speaks the truth and who is the villain. Ella-Rae Smith plays her bewilderment and deadly fear very well, Matthew Daddario as handsome and charming Ben makes it totally believable that young Jess falls for him, and Jessica Alexander is equally convincing as the relentless vengeful Lexie.
I do have a few minor reservations. The sad personal history of Jess keeps popping up, but doesn't add anything to the story. And the last scene somehow gave the impression that the makers considered someone as a hero and worth to be saved, who in my opinion was, in spite of understandable motives, disproportionally violent, even murderous. A bit of a questionable moral, I would say. But for the rest: a nice and entertaining thriller.

Awful in every way.. unsure why I continued to watch until the end.. I think I was just hoping something would make it worth the time I'd already wasted.
The acting was horrific, I felt like I was watching a high school drama in stage rather than a sky film!
The story line was pointless and not believable.. for example, why would you decide your going to jet ski out to a boat to take revenge when it was literally docked up the day before? Surely it would have been much easier to do that when attached to land... Also why tell the girl to get the flare when evidence was in the flare bag..? It literally makes zero sense.
Truely not even sure why I'm wasting my time writing a review about such an awful film too, but I think I just want to save people wasting their time!!

A tight, well-acted thriller. The foreboding tension started early and built towards an action packed ending. It nicely focused on 3 characters who's motives remained unknown until the end. The scenery was gorgeous, the boat was claustrophobic and the ocean itself added to the ominous tone. Matthew Daddario is excellent as an alluring but suspicious stranger.

No pun intended - if you like thriller movies, that have a bit of spice added to them .. well you may be able to suspend your disbelief and just go with the flow (of the ocean) ... so never mind the flaws. Never mind the gullible nature of our main character ... or is there more to it? You may wonder about that considering how trusting she is ... for no reason at all.
That all said, the movie works when the suspense is at its height ... well only with the already mentioned suspension. The actors try their best - and they are fine to look at anyway. If that helps in any way - because you have to be able to be forgiving when it comes to their decision making ... in the end, this is empowering .. even if more than a bit flawed ...

I don't think the low rating is justified. 4.6 out of 10 is way too low. I agree that the movie is flawed and unexceptional but the storyline is interesting, enough to draw your attention. The acting is good (considering the very thin plot) and the production value is also pretty good especially for a low budget movie.
Two things bothered me most about this movie. First, the main character is so gullible that it borders on stupidity. Second, there was too much focus on the interaction between them before the second girl appeared. It was too slow and too sexual and really lacked depth. There wasn't enough time left for the second girl. It could have been more interesting if we got to know her background and feel her pain. I assume they were going for the psychological aspect of it. Making the viewers (and the main character) wonder which one of them is telling the truth but I don't think it was done well.
It's almost like they couldn't decide on a genre so they tried to make it a little bit of everything. It was confusing. I wasn't sure what I was watching. I thought it's going to be a crime thriller but it was way too slow paced to be a thriller. What was it then? Drama? Mystery? Crime? The focus on the sexual tension between them made me feel like I was watching soft porn. It was just all over the place and it didn't feel right.
With that said, the movie was still watchable and ok for what it was. Flawed for sure but not awful. I guess it all comes down to what you expect but definitely not 4.6/10, more like 6-6.5/10.

The movie fell short. It's one of those movies that leaves you thinking "could have been... but wasn't".
The movie is about three people in a boat with a dead motor in the middle of the sea. Things start going wrong, and Jess doesn't know who to trust: her new boyfriend? Or the other girl?
One thing that I found disturbing was all the yelling and shouting. It was like watching a horror movie that was commissioned to a highschooler for summer project: everybody is yelling, and the actual acting part is super shallow. Now, I found Ella-Rae Smith acting actually spot on. I can't say the same for her colleagues; they didn't seem to believe in their characters themselves.
The movie would have been more enjoyable, and to be taken more seriously, with more psychological tension (and some good "scary" silence).
The other thing is the plot itself. I think that some more work could have been done to make it more interesting, because "I just want to know what you did" isn't that strong as a motive. Also, some moments weren't that plausible.
I enjoyed the movie on a lazy Saturday while cleaning the house. All the yelling helped boost my cleaning mood... I don't think it's the kind of movie I'd sit down to actually focus on intensively. Because then, I'd most likely notice more implausible things... Yeah, it's a movie that could have definitely been better.

Writer David Beton delivered a rather generic script and storyline here for director Kate Cox to bring to life on the screen. And if you enjoy a good old fashioned thriller, then I am sad to say that "Into the Deep" doesn't bring the goods.
Sure, "Into the Deep" was watchable enough for what it turned out to be. Though it was a pretty straight forward thriller without any twists or ups and downs in the storyline. And a thriller without such things makes for a somewhat bland viewing.
I hadn't heard about "Into the Deep" prior to sitting down to watch it. As such, then I wasn't really expecting a whole lot, so writer David Beton and director Kate Cox had every opportunity to entertain and bedazzle me with this 2022 movie. Suffice it to say, they did not.
And I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Into the Deep", but I will say that the actresses and actors did perform well enough, given the circumstances of a subpar script and storyline. It was a relatively small cast ensemble, but they performed adequately enough to carry the movie being few in numbers.
For a thriller then "Into the Deep" just didn't make the cut. It is the type of thriller that you watch once, then shelf it and never take it out to be played ever again. A rather monotonous and forgettable storyline actually.
My rating of "Into the Deep" lands on a very generous four out of ten stars.

It's very dull, does not captivate the viewer and there are British tv shows (albeit few) that have better characters, better acting and suspense that is not so obvious that the viewer doesn't sit and wonder why they bothered seeing it through. The main man is ok but the two women are just wooden. I am British too and films like this are an embarrassment that this is the level we are at in suspense films and it needed an American actor just to make it watchable (plus a few naked scenes to appease the men viewers and try to convince them they haven't completely wasted their time which is definitely the sign of a bad film/movie)

Mediocre acting & dull plot. I expected a much better twist & is left unsatisfied as well as disappointed. Would've been much more interesting & shocking if the perpetrator was Lexi. Movie was 90 minutes long but felt like I was laying on my bed for an eternity praying that it would end. As a single mother I cherish my time heavily and I am genuinely upset since I know I could never get those 90 minutes back! The movie was not horrible but just very pointless to me & lacked substance as well as proper character build up. I wish there were more emphasis on Ben & his back story explaining how/why as well as Lexi. There were no flashbacks just a low budget disaster.
