This could be described as the biopic of the millennial. The Get Together attempts to capture modernity without catering to sides any particular ideology. This is indisputably the future of cinema. It is without stardom, without the massive dollars of production houses, and without pandering. There's an honest wandering to the story as an uber driver, a failed musician, and a grad student try to justify their lives in the face of the dying American Dream, and changing norms about adulthood and marriage. Its only shortcoming is that it uses many untrained actors and yet that could also be its highest achievement. Any vague critiques of this film come from the critics inability to appreciate the simplicity of daily life and the cultural moment. 8/10 only because its scope is not large enough to accomplish 10 stars.
Omg, the 8/9/10 ratings are ridic shills, this indie film by inexperienced nobody producer/writer/director Will Bakke is a wasted effort, should've been released straight to TV via MTV or VH1 given its throw-away teen/YA emo-drama. This past Covid-tainted year has just been a dumping ground of pathetic, unworthy films and it hasn't stopped yet apparently. Just add this to the increasing pile of rubbish.
Bakke & Riot Studios first crossed my horizon years ago with their fantastic debut, Believe Me, and I've been dying ever since to see what they came out with next. This film did not disappoint me. In some ways, it's less of a film and more a series of three interconnected "short stories" in visual form. But the three interconnecting vignettes were each equally engaging and kept me invested in the characters and their problems throughout the narrative. Add to that some meaningful themes its grappling with related to coming-of-age and passing from the college life to the adult world, and this was a solid film that I rather enjoyed. Time will tell if it's as memorable as Believe Me, but it's a solid film in its own right.
Whole movie is just boring. Nothing funny about this and nothing interesting. Don't waste your time like I did mine.

I don't write reviews often but these up and coming actors deserve the review! This was entertaining and the acting was great! I can't wait to see more of these people! I especially loved the character of August, she really is all of us, super relatable! 10/10 recommend!
