Veyilmarangal

Veyilmarangal (Trees Under the Sun) is a haunting take on caste discrimination and persisting unemployment in modern India, and one which is beautifully shot by director Bijukumar Damodaran and late cinematographer M J Radhakrishnan. It tells the story of a vagrant mother-father-son trio who find themselves moving from Kerala to Himachal Pradesh in search of livelihood and yet are followed by their same old problems - discrimination, low wages, apathy at the hands of authority. While the lens sometimes focuses from the son's perspective, it's the plight shared by the members of the trio that is highlighted here, conveying the message that the country is still backwards in its thinking despite the modernish developments. Veyilmarangal makes you think because it's a fantastic critique of our times and one that remains a better Malayalam film of 2020. Grade B+.

One of the best independent movie I have ever seen. The Simplicity of the movie takes it to another level. It leaves a mark on the world of realistic Cinema When a village in Kerala is flooded, A Dalit family who becomes homeless & doesn't get any support from the government moves to Himachal Pradesh to get a job with a help of friend. How they adapt in a totally new environment is the story all about.

A classical movie on journey of a family from backwater to snow capped places but destiny does not leave them. Awesomely detailing, cinematic shots, and sublime acting.

The acting in this movie especially by indrans is just fantastic. For a comedian he has played some amazing serious roles off late. Very enjoyable movie.

Good photography, taken good effort to have a picturesque sequence covering both backwater of Kerala and Himachal . Himachal change is seasons is visualised at the best .non realistic story line from a director who born n bought up in Kerala, he missed how a keralite react to a situation, especially no parents will leave kids uneducated in Kerala. There is no big issue happened to leave Kerala with family to Himachal for a merger wage .

Ofcourse govt help will be delayed or may not get to the correct person.

Kerala any kind of labour per person will easily fetch 600 900 per day.

Still wondering how Malayali director miss these all things.sure he not made it for Kerala filim lovers Who love more realistic one.
