The Passage was one of the most anticipated films of 2019, the film had so much hype especially because its Egypt's first war film in decades.

The film is not as great as it was anticipated, but it's not bad either.

The acting in the film was good but sometimes it felt a little bit over that it became cliched.

The action packed scenes were executed well, however they weren't the action scenes that you would see in a war film. The film is talking about a mission that was done by a group from the Egyptian Commandos so the film didn't require so much action packed scenes, like a Michael Bay film.

I won't talk about the music because Omar Khairat which means it was obviously great.

Let's talk about the story, which had so many flaws. There are two sides in a war, the patriotic side and the coward side who was just forced, there wasn't a single character that portrayed the bad side. There's nothing wrong with admitting that the bad side exists, what is really wrong is showing that it doesn't. I read the story of the "Group 39 Fighting" that the film is based on, and the film's main purpose wasn't to show their story but it was to show how much explosions they could make using their story. Also there is always something that bothered me about war films, the target is always "The biggest weapons supply the enemy has", "The biggest war camp in enemy army", etc and the film didn't avoid that cliche at all. Small victories matter too, like the victories this group had accomplished.

I am a little let down because I hoped that this film would change this typical stereo typing about the Military, especially with foreign films not afraid of admitting that, "Dunkirk" is a film about the biggest retreat in the war and they showed it like a victory without any shame because it led to a victory but I still would say that I enjoyed the film.

I would obviously recommend this film, so others could join the debate and also because they would enjoy the film.

I'm not a big fan of Egyptian films even that I'm Egyptian.. but this movie is a great war movie especially that you did never see an Egyptian war movie like that. Great acting and great story but it have some mistakes but you can forgive them because of their budget.

Hollywood like movie by Egyptian hands. Peroin every aspect. Sound, effects, decoration, lighting, action, drama... etc. Literally perfect in every single aspect of movie evaluation. Complete 150 minutes you can't turn your head away. Well done.

Recommended for those interested in historical dramas and well-crafted war films.

By Egyptian standards it is 6 for me, I didn't like the fact that it is not a true story, because I am sure the Egyptian-Israeli war history have lots and lots of great stories to be told, why tell us a fake one ? This particular story is very expected, full of many gaps and holes even by the Egyptian standards, I understand that Egyptians will love it because it is a story of patriots and they will feel that they have to love it, but still it has so many flaws.

It's very good story and great actors but it has many faults, I will not talk about until remove the movie from cinemas.

I really wanted this movie to be a good one , according to the huge budget which was about 100 million LE. I expected alot from it but it was very disappointing for me. Very weak story line, fake acting and illogical scenes with ridiculous action . Script was also poor and typical . I watched many Egyptian war movies which were way more better than this one.

Very weak dialogs... too theatrical... the move is exaggeratly overrated & overbudgeted... I hated the movie...

Great Movie , Effects and battle scenes Well-done keep it up !

Acting was subpar especially by the supporting actors. Special effects and CGI were mediocre, several moments were very exaggerated and reminded me of old bollywood films. The film editing was cheap and felt rushed ruining the pace and the atmosphere of the experience. The story and dialogue were very cliched and unoriginal and you could feel the sh2oon m3nawya's presence in the script writing process. The score was an exact replica of 2002 Mafia's score, both of which were composed by Omar Khairat, very disappointing. I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1 because I think this movie will open the road to high budget war films in Egypt in the future. Conclusion: would not recommend this movie to anyone.

I wonder how could anyone give a bad feedback ! Couldn't be better actually , Hats off for the cast & Eyad Nassar for sure, i love to hear palastenian accent on tv , i feel like home . I can remember that the chemistry between the characters was very true and convincing.

I was disappointed from watching this movie, bad acting despite of good cast ,bad effects and storyline. Please arab producers don't make such movies, stay on Drama and comedy.

No words can describe how amazing this movie is. the only bad side is it lacks a scene of truth of showing the actual locations on the map and the pics of the real Egyptian heros that this work belong to

This movie is amazing because it talks about our Egyptian army and their bravery and the operations they did against the enemies.
