Fred (Josh Ruben), a frustrated copywriter, checks into a winter cabin to start his first novel. While jogging in the nearby woods, he meets Fanny (Aya Cash), a successful and smug young horror author who fuels his insecurities. During a power outage, Fanny challenges Fred to tell a scary story. As a storm sets in, they pass the time spinning spooky tales fueled by the tensions between them, and Fred is forced to confront his ultimate fear: Fanny is the better storyteller. The stakes are raised when they're visited by a horror fan (Chris Redd) who delivers levity (and a pizza) to the proceedings.

Watch if you love Comedy Horror

I feel like this movie isn't getting great reviews because it's not full of jump scares and gore but that's what makes it great. I love comedy horror due to the fact that it's not to be taken seriously and it's lighthearted while still carrying that element of spooky. Give it a watch!

Simply bad.

The whole movie you sort of just sit there, waiting for it to start. Then it drags on for an hour too long and suddenly it's over, leaving you wondering why the heck you didn't read some reviews first before wasting time on it.

Cast is okay. Camera work is passable. But the story is just... absolutely terrible.

Like a cheesy magic show

The characters were good but when I realised that nothing was eventuating I just kept on skipping bits after I watched the first 1/4 straight. There wasn't anything interesting. The actors seemed to carry most of the entertainment value in this movie. I don't think I even care about the ending at all because I went through so much of it so fast towards the end. Some jazzy music then out like a cheesy magic show. Buda bing buda bang. I'm still giving them 5/10.

A movie about storytelling

This is a movie about storytelling. Not a horror movie as much as a movie about telling a scary story. I found it pretty brilliant and funny. Like a lesson in the craft of telling a good story. It has an improv vibe and does a lot with one location and for the most part, two actors. Chris Redd is not in it as much as I would like but his appearance is a lot of fun. Worth watching, but not what you expect.

Good fun

Not sure why there are ratings of ten and not sure why there are ratings of one as it deserves neither. I really enjoyed this film, it's not really a horror (although there's a jump or two) but it is funny, it is engaging and the acting is top notch. If you're not totally dead inside, like some of these reviewers, then in sure you enjoy it.
