I'm not sure what I was expecting but I did think the 'plot' sounded good. Overall I was very disappointed with this movie. The acting was terrible, the scripting wasn't much better and the effects were even worse.
I stayed till the end as I am not one to quit half way through. This movie felt like it had been on for four hours, and not enjoyable ones. I am not sure about the horror genre, I would place it in more comedy horror - even though I am not sure the parts which were funny were actually meant as comedy.
Very disappointing and it is only getting such a high rating from me as the plot of the movie is a great idea, if done well.

Born combines a variety of ideas into one old-fashioned B-horror movie. There's a demon visiting a psychiatrist, a virgin pregnant by a demon, the same virgin fighting split personality- her innocent self and the demon taking over, a priest hit-man, an ultra-religious sister trying to keep the innocent girl on the straight path after their mother dies. And there's a surprising twist at the end.
The performances are pretty good. Joan Severance is excellent. Denise Crosby is equally successful at portraying a nasty character. But Alison Brie impresses playing her role, two roles actually, with bravura. Kane Hodder was somewhat uneven, but it's good to see the legend play a significant role where he even gets to be funny at times.
The CGI effects are pretty bad but fortunately not used a lot. Much better are the real prosthetic and other special effects. There's neat scene of a pentagram on the floor with talking decapitated heads at each point of the star.
Overall an fun little movie that suffers at times from a slower pace. But at a time when horror movies are either lame PG-13 sequels or direct-to-video C-budget movie experiments, this is more akin to the 80s B-horror movies; not perfect but with everything a horror fan likes: violence, gore, nudity, humor.

Despite my big love of all things horror, then I have actually never heard about the 2007 movie "Born", from writer Alex D'Lerma and director Richard Friedman, prior to stumbling upon it by random chance here in 2025. And seeing that the movie had Kane Hodder on the cast list, and with it being a horror movies that I hadn't already seen, of course I had to check it out.
The storyline was pretty straightforward, but it wasn't like writer Alex D'Lerma put together something unique here. The movie sort of was a run-of-the-mill-pregnant-with-an-unholy-child type of movie, which has been seen before, and done better before. But I am not saying that it was a bad movie, because I did enjoy it for what it was. The narrative, however, suffered a bit from its slow pacing. There just simply wasn't enough of thrills and scares throughout the course of the movie.
The only familiar faces on the cast list, for me at least, were Kane Hodder and Denise Crosby. It should be noted that the acting performances in "Born" were fair.
The CGI in the movie was pretty terrible to look at, though the special effects were fair.
Watchable for what it was, but this was hardly an outstanding gem in the horror genre. It is not, however, a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.
My rating of director Richard Friedman's 2007 movie "Born" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Just to save you money and time I will go ahead and tell you that this movie is absolutely not worth the match and gas it would take to burn it. Don't waste your time. As a matter-of-fact you would be better off forgetting you ever thought about watching it. I have seriously seen better B movies in a language that I can't understand. Who ever gave permission for this to be made needs to be sewed. The only positive thing I can say for this movie is that with a new script and the right director and actors it could be a great story. Let me break it down; A virgin gets pregnant by a demon, the baby while inside her womb wants to feed on people. They try to make up for the fact that this is possibly the worst movie ever made with cursing and pointless nudity. All in all Totally not worth the dollar it took me to rent it.
Born is the story of a demon who used to be the brother of a virgin that made a deal with the Devil that if he raped his sister and got her to kill six innocent people he would come back to life and the baby would become the demon that would torture other people in hell. Let that sink in. It is on all levels incredibly bad, and I love every minute of it. Kane Hodder and Alison Brie star in this amazingly bad movie. This the best kind of bad movie that anyone could ever hope for. Get your best friends and a whole lot of beer and enjoy.
