Porn of the Dead

Trying to make sense of this movie all along, like someone said it leaves a bad taste after watching it (someplace below!?). In a related thread, just read how Buddhist monks overcome lust in Tibet by visualizing mating couples as corpses(who said the ancients did not have grotesque porn). Especially young teenage novices(with tanks full of testosterone)are shown special drawings of copulation included with bones, flesh, blood and the inevitable decay of the human body. Some of the truly belligerent ones may be asked to meditate on dead bodies whenever lust creeps in!! Of course the idea is not to indulge in lust but to actually prevent it from being overwhelming. Thought this movie just did that at least personally.

Watching this film is like eating steak and custard. I like steak, I like custard, but when you put 'em together, eeewww. It ain't so tasty.

I'm taking the time to write these comments as this is for sure one of the oddest flicks I've seen, but in no way is it a lazy piece. From the opening credits, the production value is noticeable and clever processing effects actually make this look mainstream. It's not until we get into the hardcore molestation of zombie by human and visa versa that things (for me I stress) go awry and I began asking - 'who is this movie for?' If there is such a person, I'm not sure I'd like to meet them.

There's a nice atmospheric feel to the production with a particular grainy 16mm effect I liked. The actors are all clearly professionals and the lighting/direction/gore is all executed well (considering budget); but I couldn't help wishing that the two subjects had been handled in separate works by the same director. I reckon he could make a good looking budget zombie flick and certainly a quality bit of porn; but I guess perhaps I'm missing the point here.

I like my zombies, I love my porn, but (for me) never the twain should meet. Applaudible effort though.

P.S. My advice, don't put your ghoulies in a ghouls' mouth, it'll end in tears.

Verdict

I expected a plot, okay I expected it to be wafer thin but I expected something....anything! What did we get? No plot, it's less like a movie and more like cosplay adult material. You know, you're a scientist, you're a zombie now do stuff to each other. Motivation? Oh don't worry about that, you don't even need to act or stay in character just do what you normally would.

I expected little and I got even less.

Rants

When it comes to adult material you probably shouldn't have expectations, but me being me I naturally do especially when my zombie obsessed self wanted zombies and what I got was naked folk who looked like they rolled around in mud and may as well have been having long drawn out conversations for all they pretended to be the undead!

The Good

Some of the cinematography wasn't awful Trina Michaels was the standout performer

Terrible zombies No plot Felt like everyone was just going through the motions.
